I am in my 50's and was losing hair prior to dieting. I had a vitamin D deficiency due to being severely lactose intolerant. I suggest you schedule an appointment with your GP and have some blood work done. I am currently on a 1200 calorie diet and am not losing hair. Vitamin D and iron deficiencies are common so it would…

You currently are at a healthy weight for your height but are trying to diet down an underweight bmi range. Maybe you would be better served to do a body recomposition instead of further weight loss. A strength training program with progressively increasing weights could prove useful.

I don't like to cook either. Consequently, my freezer is full of frozen vegetables, frozen turkey burgers, and the refrigerator has ham slices, light bread, fresh fruit, lettuce and condiments. The pantry has unsweetened applesauce and sugar free gelatin cups. The only real cooking required is for meat while the rest is…

Have you tried mixing diced mushrooms in your ground beef? It's hard to detect, will lower the calorie count and gives a juicy burger. You can mix up to 1/3 of the beef mixture as diced mushrooms before substantially effecting the taste. Just experiment and see what you like.

While you are reducing all over, maybe add some planks to your regimen. A strong core will help with your strength training.

Dairy I am extremely lactose intolerant and cannot tolerate dairy in any form.

I am 5'7", 56 year old female who lifts weights 4 times a week and walks 90 minutes 5-6 nights a week. I have a sedentary job and MFP places me on 1200 calories to lose 1.3 pounds a week or 1265 to lose 1 pound a week. I am actually losing 3 pounds a month. Came to this site because I thought I might have developed a…

Great job making sustainable changes and congratulations on your weight loss.

Awesome job!

I have taken Metformin and found no problems with nausea. However, if your huband's blood sugar has been out of control for some time prior to starting medication, he may feel like he has low blood sugar crashes when his blood sugar is at a normal range. This stage will pass quickly and doesn't mean to short his…

You can send someone a friend request. Click on their avatar and a small one will pop up. Click on the avatar again and their profile will appear. Once you are at the profile, click on the avatar and two boxes should appear next to their avatar. One will say "friend request" and the other will say "message". It may take…

Do you use a food scale? Have you readjusted your MFP calories since you lost 20 pounds? If you are using measuring cups and tablespoons realize that they measure volume and not weight so serving sizes can vary from the manufacturers suggested serving size. Maybe try to eat at maintenance calories for two days with your…

To add friends, click on the profile picture until it takes you to their profile. When you get to their profile, double click on their avatar and two boxes should appear. One box will say send friend request and the other will say send message. If you send a friend request, try to fill out the optional message so that…

Have been unable to get into "MY HOME" page consistently and it has gotten almost impossible.

This is my first challenge. I joined MFP in May and am still learning about this site.

I am 56 year old female with hypothyroidism and have no problem losing weight on 1200 calories. Since March, I have lost 30 pounds. I suggest that you weigh all food and beverages in grams and ounces and do not use measuring cups as they only measure volume. You might also have your thyroid checked and hormones checked (if…

Congratulations on your continuing weight loss. Well said. I put other's needs ahead of my own. Each day I have to tell myself that I am entitled to x number of minutes to exercise for myself or it would never happen.
-
Absolutely stellar! Wishing you a happy and full life of even more goals met.

I have been on a doctor supervised 800 calorie diet myself. They have their place. I would look at the aspects of your diet that are not pre-weighed and measured. Purchase a food scale that weighs to the gram. Weigh all food that you eat in its raw state or frozen state to the gram. Follow package serving sizes or your…

Congratulations on achieving your goal. I wish you much success with your future goals.

When you exercise MFP will add in additional food calories for you. Don't eat all of them back. Maybe eat half the extra calories back.
-
Use the MFP calorie and activity tracker to set up your calories based on activity level and make a point to eat less calories than your allowed limit.

To add her as a friend, click on her picture. It will take you to her profile page. Double click on her picture there and two boxes should pop up. One will say "send message" the other says, "add friend", I think. This is how I do it but there probably is a faster way. Good luck on your fitness journey!

I would like to join this group. I created an account several years ago but only joined three weeks ago. I have weighed 10 lbs. over a healthy BMI the majority of my life. This changed when my kidneys failed due to diabetes. For three years was on dialysis and gained 75 lbs. while on a 1400 calorie supervised diet!…

AWorkoutRoutine has just added a new program for those of us waiting for gyms to open or who exercise at home. A link to it just came out in his free newsletter today. Be aware, that you choose the price.

Be kind to yourself. Don't say all or nothing. Remember a diet only refers to what you consume, it is not a lifestyle. Make a few small changes each month, like drink more water, or walk ten minutes at lunch. When these become habits, try a few new healthy things until these become habits.

Your exercise sounds solid. Have you consulted with a physician to rule out any underlying condition?

I walked five days a week for 50 minutes a day and ended up with a knee injury. Was told to rest and go to physical therapy. Resting is not fun.

Hi, I am a kidney transplant recipient. I just celebrated the 11th anniversary of my transplant this month. Find out what your nephrologist considers a good diet. How much kidney function do you have? Your nephrologist or dietician will want you to count protein, sodium, potassium and possibly phosphorous. Dialysis doesn't…

Hi, while I was never diagnosed with PCOS, I do know people who have it. None of these metabolic diseases are easy and people don't realize that others have them. I am a former diabetic dialysis patient who was given a new life with a kidney/pancreas transplant. I have 70 pounds to loose to get to a healthy weight for me.…
