Hi, I am a returning member. My name is Deb and I am 59 and live in Iowa. I joined mfp in the spring of 2020. I had 4 risk factors that would result in a poor outcome if I were to contract Covid. Sat down and made a list of what I could change and weight was at the top of the list. Started out by eating as little as…

Hi all, I have been mia for the last two weeks. I moved in for a week with the man I started dating. We have been so happy together that we have decided to make it permanent. I will weigh in tomorrow morning. Please move my weigh in days to Fridays.

Well am moved back into my bedroom. The rest of the house is back in order. All that is left is to finish going through all my paperwork and sorting. I have to save 7+ years of medicare, health insurance receipts and doctors summaries. Every seven years Medicare decides if I should still receive benefits and asks me to…

I read an interesting article yesterday. It was written by a psychologist who worked in the food industry and had successfully dealt with his own weight problem. Some of his points were: 1) The primitive or reptilian portion of our brain controls overeating. It doesn’t feel emotion but responds to stresses with these…

I have had quite a few things happen to me since hit goal weight in March. I left the dating site that I was on since it was contributing towards negative thoughts about myself. I saw a plastic surgeon who completely dashed any hopes that I had about getting a tummy tuck. This really contributed to a downwards spiral into…

I would suggest moderate to low carbohydrate foods with fiber and a protein source. This would include fruit like apples and oranges with a piece of string cheese, nuts or low calorie greek yogurt. Vegetables like carrots, celery, cauliflower, broccoli or radishes instead of the fruit. A hard boiled egg or low salt deli…

Have you updated your settings on Mfp recently? If you set to to “lose 2 lbs/wk” then mfp has given you a 1,000 calorie deficit for each day. That may be too aggressive for the amount that you have to lose and your actual activity level in addition to exercise. Plus mfp goes by population estimates and you may actually…

Yesterday I purchased a can of Behr Rainwater paint to freshen up my bedroom. Today spent the day moving clothes and small stuff out of the bedroom. Still have the large furniture pieces to go. Am hoping to get to a quilt show this weekend. It snowed here today and expecting more on Saturday. So much for the robins.…

Username: Beautyofdreams Weigh In Day: Tuesday PW: 133.9 CW: 140.8 Sorry I didn’t post yesterday. I have been wallowing in depression and self pity since last Friday. Normally, I can achieve whatever I put my mind to. In this case I couldn’t. I don’t take “no” or failure well. Spent the aftermath punishing myself by…

“I want to be Thinner, Fitter, Healthier and Happier. “ I have said this every morning for the last two years. It has made me more aware of the areas in my life that don’t align with these goals and I take action to fix them. Will check back in later today.

@Megan_smartiepants1970 41 min. Elliptical 4.51 miles 20 min. strength training 1,400 additional steps I use my phone to track my steps but don’t carry it with me all the time. Think my activity level takes a jump when it’s nice outside. Unfortunately, it’s going going to be cold and raining for the next 2 days like it was…

Congratulations on your awesome weight loss. As you continue to lose weight or maintain over the coming year, your body will tend to rearrange and more veins may become visible. Would suggest you research varicose veins and treatment options then discuss treatment with your doctor.

Username: Beautyofdreams Weigh In Day: Tuesday PW: 138.1 CW: 133.8 @lindamtuck2018 I would like to finish out the month before moving to maintenance. I am not sure what my weight range will be. I would like to get to 130 but am trying to stay steady cuz have 2 plastic surgery consults next month. They asked that I maintain…

Hopped on the scale this morning and it read 133.9! While it’s always nice to lose weight I am working on maintenance. Both…

Your last paragraph is dead on! It is just a temporary setback and not the end of weight loss. I have never done intermittent fasting but focus on eating 3-5 servings of vegetables, 2-3 servings fruit, 3 servings protein and one serving of whole grain before allowing myself any treat foods. The fiber helps fill me up and…

@smithcharesa you may have diastasis rectii. It is common in women who have been pregnant. There are many online exercise programs available, though some people will require surgery. BodyfitbyAmy has some good youtube exercise videos for this.

@Megan_smartiepants1970 03/20 8,883 steps It is another beautiful, sunny day today. Hard to imagine that it will snow Wednesday. But the robins are here and the old wives tale says the robins will dip their feet in the snow 3 times before spring. So this should be the final snow. Will be cheering in my alma mater tonight…

@Megan_smartiepants1970 03/19 10,083 steps (1,076 steps are slow shopping, the rest are at 3.5 mph) It was sunny and in the 50s today so did a quick walk to enjoy the sunshine before the rain next week. Will try to be outside walking more since free rec center will only be open 5 days/week until next fall. There were a…

Congratulations on your 5 pound loss and wishing you a full recovery from your knee injury. Mfp stickie threads are a great resource for information and there are many helpful people on the forums who will share their knowledge and experiences on the forums. Welcome and wishing you success on your journey.

From my registered dietician at the local hospital. Granted, I am missing 15 inches of small intestine, but considering the number of posts that appear from constipated people on the forums, I am not alone here.

How soon were you taking your shake before or after exercise? Is the exercise program(along with the shakes) recent? I know that for myself, if I really ramp up exercise and eat or drink shortly before or after will get diarrhea. I need to eat a light breakfast 2 hours before and eat again an hour after exercise. Symptoms…

If you decide to increase fiber, do not increase fiber more than 5 grams per week. If you increase it too rapidly you can run into digestive problems like diarrhea or constipation.

Do you count carbs? Do you have a daily meal plan that evenly distributes carbs through out the day? 15g carbs is one serving. Net carbs are carbs minus fiber. My diabetes team preferred that we eat a ham sandwich when low because would raise blood sugar without it quickly dropping back down. Unlike candy, soda or orange…

We must of had our dexa scans done by the same hospital organization. My scan is laid out identical to yours. Could you ask imaging if they can give you a printout explaining the categories? I received one when I did my scan. The technician really couldn’t answer questions outside of the bone density related ones since…
