Tell us about your exercise. How often do you exercise? Do you schedule exercise time? How long do you exercise? What do you do for exercise? What is a type of exercise you would really like to try or add to your routine?
MWF swimming and lifting. 2 hours
TTSu My choice- Yoga, elliptical, kayaking, bike, circuit, you name it. Yes I do include gardening in this too.
I would love to add figure skating, when time and money allow.
You do so much . I am sure you would do well at figures skating.

@Megan_smartiepants1970 may I please be excused from this week's weigh in for me (Thursday). not sure if I'm tagging the correct person, sorry if not.
Hi all. So I had a few days off plan and went over the top. I'm now officially at my highest weight and I've had enough. So here I am again back at the start. I know the first 7lbs will come off quickly because its water weight, it always does. I'm gna try not be too harsh on myself. Just going to focus on IF, tracking everything and drinking lots of water. 😊
Hi Roz... Linda is in charge of the weigh-ins not me1 -

Happy Tuesday, Downsizers! I'm sorry that I've been MIA - we had to rush my dad to the hospital yesterday morning - he's doing much better today. Despite all the craziness, I was able to stick to my plan because of the meal prep that I do for the week - so I'm still on track.
Steps:
4/10: 12,007
4/11: 13,821
Welcome to our newcomers! I will try to check back later to read everyone's posts.

@lindamtuck2018 @melissadreed903 Thanks so much - he was in the hospital all day yesterday - but we were able to come home in the evening - much to his relief - he did not want to stay there. He has a terrible virus and he became very dehydrated - which pushed his heart into atrial fibrillation - but he's much better today.3

I have had quite a few things happen to me since hit goal weight in March. I left the dating site that I was on since it was contributing towards negative thoughts about myself. I saw a plastic surgeon who completely dashed any hopes that I had about getting a tummy tuck. This really contributed to a downwards spiral into depression. The surgeon did refer me to a doctor at the transplant hospital who performs muscle repair surgeries. I will see them in July. If the abdomen could be repaired enough that the waistbands of my pants didn’t dig and leave red marks, I will accept the loose skin.
On a happier note, I am dating a very patient, kind man. We are still in the “best behavior” phase.
Last week moved everything out of my bedroom and packed it away(including the scale). Today have moved furniture back in. Will spend the next two days going through clothes, books and miscellaneous. The donation center just about knows me on a first name basis since I have been shedding the weight of all that clutter.

Today I headed out in my road trip. Yesterday was a stressful day and I did some stress eating. Logged it, moving on. Today was stressful too, but I didn’t fall into old patterns of constant car trip junk eating. I kept a box of fruit in the front which helped.
Goals:
-Hit my step goal
-Freggies: 3/5 so far
-Lymphatic Drainage: not this morning, will try tonight
-National/ State/ Regional park- had an appointment this morning and hit some weather, so I didn’t stop for this one. I did stop at a dog park but that’s a stretch…
-Daily weights, weigh and log food/ yes, scale is currently 1.8lb off home scale
-train dog- worked on sitting at doors with luggage, new leash walk method on our walks, sit stay distance for prepping bowls at hotel. Simple stuff but he was exhausted.
The appointment this morning was a repeat Dexa scan to look at body fat percentage vs lean mass. I’ve been losing very slowly on purpose, taking maintenance breaks from Oct to spring time every year to try to maintain my lean mass since it’s hard for me to build muscle mass with my muscle disease. My first Dexa was in March 2018, I weighed 297 at the time and had 120lb lean mass. Today, I weighed 234 on their scale and had 121lb of lean mass 😃 Yay for maintaining lean mass! I still have a ways to go with losing body fat but there’s been progress. My method has been working so I’m going to keep on keeping on with it.5 -
I read an interesting article yesterday. It was written by a psychologist who worked in the food industry and had successfully dealt with his own weight problem. Some of his points were:
1) The primitive or reptilian portion of our brain controls overeating. It doesn’t feel emotion but responds to stresses with these actions: a) can I eat it? do I mate with it? c). do I kill it? d). do I run from it? Since option a is the most socially acceptable option this is the usual response. We eat whatever stresses us.
2). When under stress we consume higher sugar and fat foods to give us energy to fight, flee, mate or eat our stressors. Modern processed food contains a mixture of sugar and fat that is hyper palatable, easily available and constantly advertised around us.
3). Modern processed food is designed to cause chemical pleasure reactions when consumed. Food is literally medicine. In this case an antidepressant. The pleasure response only lasts from 18-36 minutes. This is why we may overeat or keep consuming the same food several times in a day..
The authors strategies to combat this desire were.
1). Give this bingeing urge a disgusting name and image in your mind. Give the desired food a disgusting name.
2). Give this bingeing urge an irritating voice when thoughts to binge creep in. Eventually you will be able to recognize these thoughts as your “food demon” and not you. Tell yourself that I am not feeding my “food demon” whatever “demon slop” that it desires.
3). Rules are better than willpower or motivation(goals). Your energy is depleted each time that you make a decision whether or not to eat healthy or exercise. This lack of energy causes your motivation to wane. A rule such as “I will eat two servings of fruit, three servings of vegetables and one serving of whole grains before eating a treat” or “I will only eat between x hours of the day” is more successful because it takes away the decision making. so you don’t have the energy depletion of your motivation.
4) Take 2 extra 5 minute breaks where you do something relaxing and enjoyable such as staring out the window or doing an activity, get adequate sleep and limit social media or television before sleep. Work on reducing your stresses whether this involves planning ahead, avoiding toxic people or therapy.
The author also states that he doesn’t keep forbidden foods under lock and key. He believes that this makes it more desirable and harder to resist. I’m not sure that I agree with that but often I will sit my desired treat next to me and never eat it. Just seems that it’s enough to know that I could eat it if I wanted to.
Please share your thoughts on this:3 -
Good morning you beautiful people … So I have managed to last a week on plan and feel great I wish I could bottle this, I feel fully back on track now I hope this lasts lol - I lost a lot this week I usually do on first weeks of weight loss, feeling relatively chuffed with this ..I logged everything that hit my mouth this week even the chicken nugget I stole from my sons MacDonald's!

@jayenguk Congratulations - great loss this week - and getting back on track is a huge victory!
@Beautyofdreams Thank you so much for that information - it's very helpful. Great job taking care of yourself and removing yourself from a situation that isn't supportive. Fingers crossed that you are able to get your muscles repaired.
@Cheesy567 Great job maintaining your lean mass! I would love to get a test like that but I can't find a Dexa scan anywhere.
@Megan_smartiepants1970 Thanks so much!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Great job recognizing what you needed to change and changing it. Very interesting article. I know for myself certain things have to be kept under lock and key. I will try some of the suggestions when it comes to binge eating. I think I shared this quote before:
Food is the most abused anxiety drug. Exercise is the most underutilized antidepressant.
@Cheesy567
That is smart keeping healthy snacks in the front seat. Also, very good news with your dexa scan results. Hope the rest of your trip goes well.
@jayenguk
Fantastic loss! Logging is so important. Maybe you could journal how you are feeling right now and read it for when you feel yourself slipping.
@peng123
Great loss! How are your knees doing with the jogging?

Steps 12,271
It felt great to walk yesterday. I only went for a short one but it was still nice. If it doesn’t rain by the time I get back from the pool I will do another. This afternoon I am sitting down and doing our taxes. I will be pulling my hair out by the time I am done.
Happy Hump Day!5 -

@lindamtuck2018 My knees are great! I continue to do the exercises that the physical therapist prescribed and have not been having any problems - I'm so happy about that because I love running and am so excited to be doing it again.3

@Cheesy567 Woohoo for the gain of lean body!!! I do my next Dexa in Oct. Eating enough protein and minimizing cuts are a great thing! Congrats!
@Beautyofdreams In my situation at the moment I am in flee mode. Or avoidance. Writing things out yesterday helped me tremendously. It kept me out of the kitchen. Other times I think, "Eating like an A--hole because of S--t thoughts," Is how I snap myself out of whatever things are driving me to eat. Yes that is some of losing 100 with Corrine podcast teaching. Not having forbidden foods is also another way I have stopped the binge. I have to live with all these things around me so I have to turn the thoughts about the food around. Not creating drama about it is another. Just changing the thought process will change the outcome.3 -

Good morning all.
Check in for 4/12:
Steps - 15442
Calories - 2207. Ugh. Too high.
Exercise - started playing pickleball but pulled a hammy in my first game. Slowly walked home to keep it from getting worse. Walk was 1 hr 17 min at 2.5mph. Went on a 1 mile stroll after dinner since I was getting foody.
To many bad snacks. 3 pieces licorice, chips, peanuts. Daughter made hot chocolate after the walk but she made mine with milk. Extra 140 calories. Hammy feels fine today but I am taking the day off and probably tomorrow, unless I get restless being inside.
Dinner out tonight since we are driving daughter across town to vote on her union contract. I will be modifying my early calories a bit for more wriggle room.3 -
I am so proud of myself. I set a new lap and burn record for myself. I swam 84 laps and my total burn including my pool exercises was 718 calories. 🔥🔥🔥🔥6

Not very often you have high days like this so go easy on yourself. Sorry you hurt yourself. A couple of days rest is probably a good idea.0 -

Just not feeling it today. Like, seriously not. Do you ever go into a "funk"??? I'm wondering if it's "post vacation blues".
Yesterday's workout was some light cardio with weights. Nothing great.
Need to pull this bug out of my buttocks.1 -
Hey all. Back on track today. I've hit my highest weight ever now. It's time to finally do this once and for all. One day at a time!3

I believe there is post vacation blues. Every year after our trip to Newfoundland I get into a funk for about a week. Light cardio with weights is still a workout. Give yourself a few days to get back to normal life.
