LOL, when I was babysitting a lot a few years ago, the pounds dropped off me like water! Darn toddlers running around! :)

I'm 42, going on 43, and my mom still likes to set up my apartment when I move!!!! This time she actually built IKEA furniture, a new experience for her as an antique dealer. :-) It's also very exciting that your daughter got a job already. Way to go!

I hate to send you to yet another calculator, but I would try the USDA at https://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/dri-calculator/. That should be as authoritative as it gets. Gives you protein, vitamins, all that. Then subtract 500 calories from that for one pound a week lost, 1000 calories for two pounds a week lost. (The magic…

Have you tried just eating the salsa, you know, with a spoon? That's what I do, but after all, I am from San Antonio. :D

Woke up with this classic tune from k.d. lang in my head: She was a big-boned gal from southern Alberta; You just couldn't call her small. You can bet every Saturday night She'd be heading for the Legion hall.

Go you! There is no way I could resist an actual human offering me biscuits and gravy. And forget about the sausage.

I have zero willpower, so the only thing that works for me is not to have anything remotely snacky in the house. I will totally eat plain dry Cheerios if they are there. It has to be raw vegetables or a boiled egg or nothing.

I have been in a similar situation, and I am in a long-term struggle with depression. I'll friend you! Meeting new people IRL is super-hard, I agree.

Restaurant leftovers are the best! Up to and including cold pizza for breakfast!

It's OK! Once you've made progress, it's a lot easier to earn it back than it is to make new progress. You'll be back at status quo in no time and will improve from there.

It's been a while since I compared their stats, but maybe take a look at evaporated skim milk (in the can--I believe all evaporated milk is skim). Better than regular skim in coffee for sure.
-
Many distinguished ppl are from there :D

I'll say this about my mother--she gave me hell in a lot of different ways, but she never once inculcated any bad attitude about food or eating or body image. The only time I ever heard her mention weight was when she'd occasionally say, "No dessert for me--my pants don't fit!"

If you look at the bottom of Check-In, there's a button that says Track Additional Measurements, and you can input your HR there. I just learned this! Cronometer has a ton of other parameters built in, but we can just as easily add them here.

I was once in my hometown of San Antonio and found Zartarain's crab boil potato chips!!! They were insane.

MFP "assigns" me 1610, but I am 209 lbs., so if you weigh less, it'll be less. I am 42. When I was counting calories at 170 lbs., I believe my allowance was more like 1200. Doing my best not to "eat back" exercise calories, because in fact I get very little exercise (I am a pathology resident).
-
Absolutely! Got to make the human machine work as well as possible! Adding you.
-
I'm friending you so I can see what you eat, no kidding! My allowance is 1610 and I'm hungry all the damn time. I distinctly remember counting calories in 2011 and being satisfied on 1200, but you need more to function if you're heavier, so that must be the difference.

Wow, we are practically twins. I'm 42, 5'8", started at 217, currently 209, goal weight 164. I have a stationary bike, now I just need to use it :)

Hotel pools are the bomb!

Interesting. I am also on metformin to help counteract the diabetogenic effects of Zyprexa. And I think it does suppress some of my appetite, but not all of it, LOL. My boyfriend is on the full slate of diabetic Rx and has basically no appetite. He eats like once a day and is a healthy weight. If only!!!

Hi! I'm 42, 5'8", currently at 209, looking to get down to 164 or a little lower than that. I just added you. :D I've counted calories in the past successfully, but it seems like at my ancient age my BMR must be like 500 calories or something, because it's a lot harder than the last time I tried. But we can do it!

It's diet that really gets the job done, anyway. It's almost impossible to burn enough calories exercising to lose weight if you don't control your diet first.

Hey, everyone! This seems like a great community. I'm 42, 5'8", currently at 209, goal weight 164. I put an actual picture in my profile because, like, it's a normal picture of me, I look like myself, but you can tell from the picture I could stand to lose some weight. I've never been thin, I've always had a BMI of 25, so…

Hello! I have a prosthetic leg, plus, you know, I'm not athletic even when I'm at normal weight. Stationary bike is usually what works for me. I had a fantastic period of time when I was near a city bike path and could ride a real bike, but that is no more, sadly! I'll friend the both of y'all if that's OK!
-
What do you mean, woman?!!!! Your figure is my goal! Keep up the awesome work.
-
On the contrary, sherbear, reading your initial post, I'd say it's harder to get from 142 to 120 than it is to lose a lot of weight. Like, I know I shouldn't eat ice cream, so if I stop doing that, I'll lose weight. But if you're at 142, it means that by and large your habits are OK. So I will totally respect you for…

Consider it done. :)

Hey, ladies! I'm 42, 5'8", 209, goal weight 164. Excited to see what y'all are up to.

And what is life without adult beverages?! We actually have a dangerous delivery service here in Boston that will bring beer to your house even in non-pandemic times.
