Yes, I think that is what dh called the machine. Hoping one of her insurances will cover it(she has 3). He has already talked to the owner of the care home about her using it for MIL if it is approved. She needs to just stay in the care home. We can't take the chance of bringing her back to her home, hiring 24/7 care and…

Yes, he has both POA. He is on all of her accounts and pays all her bills (he has for over 12 yrs. because she doesn't read or write English well enough. Her other son did the bills after her husband passed away, until he died). As of this afternoon, they will be releasing her back to her care home tomorrow. They feel the…

Dh is still not sure what is going on. The nurse that he talked to when he was visiting said that she would have the doctor call him. They needed to start her on blood thinners because the risk of a blood clot was higher than the risk of her bleeding out from her ulcer or something. They had originally said no blood…

We don't start giving numbers out until 6AM and start serving at 7:30 but, when we get there at 4:45 or 5:00AM, there are already people in line We have some people who are very picky about what they want and don't want. That is fine. Better to say no thank you than take it and then we find the stuff they don't want in the…

Update on MIL. She is back in Kaiser. Not sure if she has a UTI or not. One nurse told dh she did, another one, and her blood test online says it is clear. She is dehydrated and blood test shows she has an infection somewhere but they don't know where. Found out they haven't checked her for bedsores which doesn't make any…

The food bank/food program that mom helps at every Saturday(I help when I am up there). They get a huge variety, including a LOT of desserts. Most are donated from Safeway and Raleys. That is my mom's spot. She hands them out. Some weeks each family gets to pick one, other weeks when they get extra, they can have two. Full…

[quote="Snowflake1968;c-48492141 Debbie - I’m happy for you to read that your DH’s anger has lessened a bit. I can’t wait until the day you post that he was happy and treated you properly. I am really enjoying The Voice this season. I hope Michael Buble becomes a regular, he’s got quite the sense of humour and you know…

Lanette- I am so looking forward to getting some seeds started. After going to mom's and sorting hers plus bringing some home to start here, got me anxious to get started. Dad printed out a chart years ago- the longevity list for seeds. I think tomatoes is 7-8 yrs(need to check that) I brought home some seeds that dad had…

Taking a little break. Dishes done, a load of laundry going and the big project for the weekend(well, one of the biggest ones)is done. All the pictures are back up. Didn't realize just how many we had up on that wall. NIce to have them back up instead of in a box or in a pile in the living room. Now I can declutter that…

Tracey- It has been very nice.I do have to leave the house twice a day to go over and take care of MIL's dog. It is getting old, can't wait until dh is ready to admit his mom isn't going back to her home and then son can move in over there so he can take care of the dog. It does get me out walking more which is good.…

Got to sleep in a bit, going back to sleep after dh left this morning. I didn't get up when he left but he woke me up trying to unplug and then pack his CPAP to take with him. Fed the inside cats, need to feed the cats in the little catio and then a little in the front for the strays he feeds. I will do that after I finish…

[quote="1948CWB;c-48486616" Rebecca ~ Love reading about the yummy things you prepare to eat. I too have always leaned toward preparing food that my DH likes. I am trying to change that thinking as there are many things I would like to eat but don't prepare. The best thing is that over the past couple of years, I only…

We pushed off dad's celebration of life for 5 months because of Covid. The date we picked, once the limitations were lifted, was what would have been mom and dad's 65th wedding anniversary. That worked out perfectly for us. Their anniversary was so special to both of them. Dad was so proud, and told everyone he could,…

My former inlaws had an issue like that. When former hubby was doing their taxes for them a couple years ago, he was having trouble getting it to go through. Found out that when they moved MIL from one care facility to the other, someone marked her as dead so SS stopped sending checks-FIL didn't notice the problem. They…

?? I got a whole frozen duck when I helped at the food program on Saturday. My question is, has anyone cooked one? Any tips to make it tasty and not tough. DH loves the Chinese roast duck so would like to make something tasty for him There are so many recipes online but want a good one so I don't ruin it. Debbie Napa…

Your dh reminds me so much of mine in both those areas- obsessed with cleaning the litter boxes, for mine, especially the one in the new catio where we put the two feral/stray cats. He not only does the litter box but wipes everything down and vacuums any litter that is on the floor. He does the same for all the litter…

I need to just remember to bring extra when I go up. It isn't a big deal but I get so little time with mom BUT she loves the extra company. She is starting to see that they are taking advantage of her, like when he came in and said his wife needed 4 dozen eggs because she was baking cookies- never has offered to pay, picks…

back home from taking dh to the oral surgeon- I decided to just wait there for him. It was way too cold to be out walking the dog- 31degrees-very icy. He was in and out in 30 min. He is napping now. I usually don't nap but think I will need one this afternoon. I have class tonight and I didn't sleep well last night Have…

Got home a bit before 5pm, went over and walked MIL's dog and put some of the food I got from helping at the food program in her fridge/freezer. One thing I got was a whole duck. I have never cooked one. Dh loves the Chinese roasted duck so I grabbed one and will try cooking it this week. I love helping there but not…

Mo- I am sure the water has gone down by the bridge. I read they were clearing the mudslides last night on the road I will be on in an hour. It may still be one lane, not sure yet. I want to get up past there before it gets dark. Rita- Slowly cut back on the nebulizer, like you mentioned is what I do. If it gets worse, I…

Yes, the albuterol in the nebulizer does give me the shakes/jitters a bit. They don't last too long. I haven't noticed reduced appetite though I will keep an eye on it when I do have to use it again. Hopefully not for a long while- The last episode was over 6 weeks of treatments up to 4 times a day. Debbie Napa Valley, CA

This is the road on the way to town from my mom's house- It floods often. Thankfully the rain is stopping this evening. We will be driving over there into town early Saturday morning to work at the food program.
-
we have finally gotten a break in the rain- sunny but cool for today-48 right now- rain and just 47 tomorrow. Thankfully that is supposed to be the end of the rain. Let the waters start to reseed. The roads all around mom are flooded. Thankfully she has plenty of wood to keep her warm, gas stove in case the power goes out…

I know I have to "put on my big girl panties" and sit him down and really talk to him about a lot of things. Yes, son will take care of the dog when he moves in. He did mention that he plans on keeping the dog down stairs where he is putting his computer at least to start, because his girlfriend is bringing her cats when…

Drove up to Fairfield to go to the VA- just to find that they don't have walk in appointments on Mondays. Walk ins are T,W,TH. The next available appointment is 4/27. We drove up because he said they are not good at actually answering the phones to set up appointments. He said he might try to do walk in one day but a…

Happy birthday Kylia! Allie- hope you get extra sleep tonight Show went well yesterday- dh was very skeptical, as always, saying he didn't think we would make even $200 and that none of his Godzilla stuff would sell- He was wrong!! Sales were not great but just over double what we had hoped to get and he sold quite a few…

Lanette- Thank you- actually going to mom's next weekend. We have a show to do tomorrow in Sacramento. Mom's is an hour and 10 min drive from me(usually, unless there is traffic but even then it isn't that much more) I will be doing extra cooking to take up for her freezer-made chicken enchiladas for us and some for her…

I was lucky in first marriage. Mine left before it got that bad. He had a temper and it was getting worse. I found out 20yrs after he left me that that is why he left(he never said why, just left)- he was afraid he was going to physically hurt me and he couldn't let that happen. He was also dealing with the fear of being…

Nope, wouldn’t happen with me, nope [/quote] I know, stupid for staying and putting up with it. One day I will just be done with all of it.
