Where can I get more information on diet breaks? I'm no where near to considering one, but I hear them talked about a lot here. What good do they do? Do you count all of your food intake while you are doing them?

@conniewilkins56 I agree....unless I'm really sick, I never lose my appetite. I LOVE to eat. I could never understand people that would leave half the food on their plate.

It's always a great thing when grab something out of the closet that was unwearable (without looking like a stuffed sausage), and it fits. I've organized my closet in descending order of size and periodically try the next smallest size and sometimes I can wear it! It's like going shopping and buying new clothes!

He is slowly improving, thanks. My biggest concern now is preventing from jumping down from furniture.....

My dog Darwin is still very much with me, but got injured in a dog park accident and is on very restrictive exercise. I am used to walking with him for up to an hour every morning, and walking alone is very strange. I keep noticing landmarks along the way where he would do certain things (leaving that up to everyone's…

@Desixer Welcome to the group! Many of us here have had problems walking when we first started out. I was convinced that my knees and feet were going bad because of the pain. I just started really slowly, walking around the block at a very slow pace. I've gradually been able to build up to 2.5 miles but it has taken almost…

Thank you for understanding.....I am going to do my long walks alone, but will take him for short bathroom breaks.

@lyo4ma Welcome to the group! I think you'll find that our members are very supportive and encourage honesty...many of us have lost large amounts of weight and then put it back on, so your experience is not unique.

Sorry about the typos...I will edit in the future.

I have the opposite problem in Colorado. The summer air is very dry so the heat is more tolerable but the higher altitude makes the sun seem much more intense. In the winter, it is so dry that you have to slather on lotion beofrenyou vo to bed or you will itch constantly. Maybe the solution is to live out West during the…

@jewel_1213 Great job on overcoming that temptation. I know sometimes it feels like I'm tossing a coin because I really don't know what I'm going to do when I'm in that situation...that's why it is so important toshareour victories with others as well as our setbacks....you should be proud of yourself!

We have our dog Darwin and a quaker parrot, Emmy. The parrot makes door bell sounds and then laughs at the dog when he races to the front door....very amusing to watch!

Welcome to the group! I just sent you a FR.
-
Thank you for this.....it makes perfect sense and can be applied to daily life easily.

When I got my dog Darwin last summer, one of the reasons for doing it was to force myself to walk several times a day. Until 3 weeks ago, my morning ritual was to walk him around the block and then head for the dog park where I could sit on my butt while he ran around with all his friends. Needless to say, this was not…

Welcome Rachel! I, too, have struggled with weight for my whole life. I am finally convinced that I have to track EVERYTHING that I eat and I have to be honest about it. These forums help a lot because I don't like being accountable and will only do it with people I trust. Chris (I'll send you a FR).

My days of hiking nude are a distant memory.
-
@novusdies I also have problems finding the right shoes. I finally found the Brooks "Beast" size 13 tennis shoe which has unbelievable ankle and arch support. That's all I wear now --- and as long as I replace them once a year, they do the job.
-
Perfect!

You just made me think of a great goal: losing enough weight that I will allow myself to be seen in a swimsuit (with no shirt on). This summer I was forced to use swimsuits instead of shorts just for normal daily life because they have the draw string that I can let out.

I relate so much to this discussion. My binge behavior kicks into high gear when there is a disruption to my schedule...or I end up home alone for very long. It is almost an emotional rush to start planning my secret binge.

I'm working with Darwin on his leash behavior.....and I' m also trying to train him to rollover.

@bmeadows380 I have absolutely no idea. Now I'm trying to think of another example of that in the English language and I can't. You have to enjoy those days when the scale surprises you in a good way. God knows there are plenty of other days when it goes the other way.
-
@evamutt Welcome....what an interesting cast of characters! I wouldn't want to be the Amazon delivery guy in your neighborhood.
-
@bmeadows80 I agree on the heat thing. My dog and I are out the door at 5:30 a.m. Because I can't stand exercising in the hot sun. And we live in Colorado, where the heat is dry. We've got 100s+ coming later this week.

My vet in Colorado did not see a need unless we were going to do a lot of camping/hiking in the mountains or grasslands. But we may need to check in with him if we keep losing weight and want to tackle some mountain bikes.
-
Welcome to both of you.....your dogs are precious! Can't wait to hear more about them.
-
I can walk down hill at a good pace without knee pain.

My dog avoids water at all costs, except to drink, of course. When the dog park is muddy he will only walk In the dry areas. I've never given him a bath because he cleans himself like a cat and never smells bad.
