I second this. Try this sometime: take a rest day the day before you weigh in. For a while, I was doing everything right, except for proper rest, and the scale was barely moving. It was frustrating, and then I realized I'd given up my "rest" days because I was so determined to burn more calories so I could eat more…

If it's a tennis ball size scoop, that is 1/2 cup approx., which is about 150 calories. A Keebler waffle cone is 50 calories. I've been studying this issue closely. Almost every night I dole out my one scoop and fit it into my daily calories. If you love ice cream and you're doing well in other respects with exercise and…

I don't really have a set goal yet, just a range I want to get to, which is healthy BMI. For my parameters, 5'4" /Female/64yrs old that puts me anywhere from 110 - 146 pounds. So, my tentative target is 145 lbs. for now. I hope to reach it by the end of this year, or by next spring at the latest. I am in this for the long…

I would just like to say that there is no shame in starting over. Begin again. And again. As many days as it takes to get you where you want to be. One little step in front of the other.

Today I walked over 5 miles and ate 1760 calories. I'm leaving 250 calories on the table when I close out this day, hoping to kickstart a good losing streak. Last January I was losing 1.5 to 2 lbs per week but it has slowed to a crawl 16 weeks in. However my stamina for walking has come very far, today was my longest walk…

You can't ruin anything in a day. Why do so many people go at this with a fatalistic all or nothing attitude? Your car gets a flat tire. Is it ruined? or do you just need to get some new rubber and get back on the road? You spilled some paint on the rug. Is the house ruined? Gonna burn the whole thing down or fix that one…

I don't use the term because to me it would mean I'm trying to cheat myself, which is the opposite of what I want. I have off plan meals, and even had one entire day off plan with no way to track everything so I did a quick calorie entry instead and probably overestimated how many kcals I ate.

My idea of fit is keeping up with the grandkids.

You should take measurements. You might be losing some fat but gaining some muscle so it won't register much on the scale at first, but it will show up in measurements. Don't trust your own eye, we don't always see our progress clearly.

My daughter and SIL) did similarly with his mother. She was told if she wanted to see the new grandchild she would get vax. So she did.

I'm 5'4" too, female and started out sedentary, at about your weight. I am losing slowly with average of 1500 calories daily. I think you could safely go up to 1500 and still lose, maybe more depending on exercise duration + intensity.

Here, here to less pain! I discovered the hard way in 2020 that if I don't move very much I end up in greater pain so I've been moving more lately even if I'm going to be slow about it. I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Sooner or later it should get easier, right?

Zoom Out One day is not a long enough time span to reflect on weight loss.

No one can tell you how you "should" feel. Feel what you feel. However, you should continue to eat whether it's exciting or not, because your body requires calories and like you said, if you don't eat you'll be more likely to binge. Try not to binge. Try this occasionally: make each meal "special". Set the table, put a…

Change the batteries and make sure the scale stays in the same place where the floor isn't uneven. Has it always done this?

This is great! I was just trying to estimate that very thing because I ended up at my son's babysitting today and ate some leftover pizza. I estimated and logged 300 kcals per piece (and then added another 100 cals in case I was underestimating)

I think that's how a lot of people live in order to not gain everything back.

Years ago, (maybe decades?) I followed a person named Wendy Chant. She was a nutrition expert, a fitness guru and a body builder. She advocated for carb cycling, especially to break plateaus. I read one of her books about the science behind it and it seemed sound. Unfortunately, she died of cancer in 2009. Basically, if I…

One way to add friends on MFP is to click on the persons name, then click again on their name and choose "Add Friend" that will send them a friend request, and it allows you to send a note with it but most people just send the request. Another thing to try is to join a group. That's a little tougher because you have to…

I get up and make a cup of tea. I do squats and modified push ups while the water is heating.

Hi everyone! Good on y'all for taking this step. The program is pretty easy to use, just put in what you eat and what exercise (cardio) you do and the program is designed to tell you how many calories you can eat and still lose 1-1.5 lbs per week. And it's been working for me so far. I joined just before New Years with…

I had that sort of reaction as well on the shot arm but below where I got the shot, closer to my elbow which is still sore. I also had the intense itching in the hands and feet, a hive like rash that appeared on my arms and forehead, accompanied by more itching. Those were not immediate reactions so I almost didn't think…
