Well, I did not hit my June goals but I know why. I'm not throwing in the towel. I've got at least a year to go to hit my goal, unless I keep taking these darn "maintenance" breaks.

Find some stairs and go up and down them regularly.

The simplest route is to cut your current calories in by 250-300 and watch to see what happens over several weeks or month. Personally, I wouldn't worry about macros just yet until you've dialed in the CICO part and start to see a slow but consistent loss. I would focus on finding good meals, workouts and routines that fit…

There are some conditions, like hypothyroidism, that can contribute to development of rhabdomyolysis.

If you know their username or email, then you can do it through "Find Members". If it's someone you've read in the discussion section, then click on their name, then click again on their name so it brings you to their profile page and there will be an "Add Friend" button. I'm using a laptop, so I don't know if it's…

Wednesday weigh in day. I did not do particularly well this past week, so I was not expecting much of a loss. Still, a loss is a loss and I'll accept the 1/2 pound loss gladly. I am recommitting today to a better week and a bigger loss for the next check in. Started it our great with 85 minutes of walking this morning.…

Kaizen, one little baby step at a time. You have a lovely writing style, I am looking forward to watching/reading your progress.

@KeriA are you from the area? I live in N. Snohomish county and I LOVE your analogy!

Eat a little more, take at least two rest days per week (or switch out cardio for yoga), and consider a 2 week "maintenance break" every 4th month because plateaus can happen if you follow the same routine day in and day out. Go get a massage, or a mani-pedi, relax... In your first post you stated that you might need to…

I try and overestimate and just enter flat calorie count. Don't know if I'm even close, so I also try not to get into a situation where I can't get a calorie count or list of ingredients.

Yeah, no. That only happens for TV, or on radical plans which nearly guarantee a rebound. The loss will be slow, but there is plenty of time, and by the time you get to where you want to be you might be in good enough mindset, healthy habits and routines, that maintenance is a breeze.

That depends on too many factors to give a concise answer. You burn more if you move more and if you have more muscle mass. You can plug your height, weight, sex and activity level into online calorie calculators and get an estimate of your BMR, that's the easy way. Or solve it yourself: Men: (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 ×…

My sisters with TTD say that walking after meals helps their blood sugar levels come back down to normal range better than walking before (raises hunger levels) or doing one big session a day. They eat and walk twice a day (20 min) when they're trying to be "good".

Hello everyone! I am hoping June is the month I leave the 200's and get into Onederland. I am so close! Wednesdays will be my weigh in day for this challenge. June 2 - 207.2 lbs June 9 - June 16 - June 23 - June 30 -

Here are a couple things to do besides watching TV when the weather is yuck: teach your dog yoga or some dance moves jigsaw puzzles making soup, or cooking more involved recipes, or experimental foods cleaning and organizing cupboards, closets, and the fridge painting rocks learn to crochet reading books and magazines,…

Congratulations on the weight loss, but also triple congrats on quitting smoking! That is huge. I quit last October after a 40 year off and on habit. I feel great and have increased my stamina immensely. Keep on keepin' on!

Awesome progress! You pretty much spelled it out already. Two of the most important for me was accepting that there isn't an "end date", this is life, and probably from now on if I hope to successfully maintain. Also, stop stopping just because I had a bad day or took a week's vacation. I am impatient, so I do occasionally…

I'm happy to stop masking, but I have to say it's been nice not getting sick at all over the last 14 months, not even a little cold. For that reason, I may still wear them when I'm going to be inside for extended periods, or at clinics, etc... I will continue to wash hands frequently, and apply sanitizer when exiting a…

A very large hand painted tin bowl and the popcorn air popper inside of it. They can have the air popper but I will tackle them and wrestle that tin bowl away from them.

Also, I have noticed that the day after a really rough physical day I am often up a pound or so on the scale. For instance, I was painting a house from early morning until dusk, up and down a ladder all day, and moving, moving, moving. I was worn and sore by the end of the day, The next morning the scale showed a gain.…

Stop weighing daily. Stress is not good for weight loss either. Weigh in weekly or every two weeks, but log everything, log every morsel and move your body more than normal, it doesn't have to be a fancy exercise program just move more. Even ten minute walks after every meal will help. Don't give up, stick to it, but don't…

How tall are you? What do you have for base calories, meaning what's you target to stay under? If you're certain you're logging correctly, then the likely answer is you've set 'calories in' to something of a maintenance level. If that's the case, drop the calories a couple hundred. Make sure your scale is weighing…

I gave up caffeine because it raised my blood pressure. I started by drinking half calf and then cutting down more and more each week. I still have/had energy but now if I drink one cup of the caffeinated stuff I'll be on overdrive and possibly have trouble sleeping at night. Even a cup of tea too late in the afternoon…

I finally walked 3.5 miles in an hour, so speed and endurance has built up tremendously from where I started 4 months ago when I started out at 15 minutes at a time in the driveway.

I second this. Try this sometime: take a rest day the day before you weigh in. For a while, I was doing everything right, except for proper rest, and the scale was barely moving. It was frustrating, and then I realized I'd given up my "rest" days because I was so determined to burn more calories so I could eat more…
