  • Some of the things that help me: Don't have "it" in the house. There are things my husband will eat that I won't, so we buy those and then I'm not tempted. This is best if I'm trying to give something up entirely. I would have to take this approach if I were ill, as I find myself eating carbs to keep my energy levels up…
  • @jugar DD265 PW 86.5 CW 86 Unsurprisingly I am exhausted today. I'm too tired to be stressed so that's a positive. I got the remainder of the batch cooking done, but OH didn't finish fitting the batons to the desks until about 10pm, so I didn't do the final varnish coats yesterday. If I can get them done before my…
  • That's brill @CurvyCalorie well done! I can't decide if I'm glad the weekend is almost over so I can go back to work for a rest. It's almost 6pm and I've just sat down. I decided that instead of stressing over things I couldn't control, I was going to channel the energy into being productive. Yesterday I ran a 10k - first…
  • This week has felt long. No news on either a new line manager or BIL's condition. No recent news on FIL either, though I don't think I put on here that they're hoping he might return home next week. The NHS are in the process of organising the furniture etc he'll need at home - the dining room will be converted into a…
  • I hope everyone affected by bad weather is safe and well. Half wanted to, half didn't, but went for a run with hubby this evening. Did 45 minutes and I could've kept going but was conscious he's not running fit. 45 minutes was what I wanted to achieve mid week - I will go for an hour at the weekend. I do feel better for…
  • I'm glad you're recovering well @jugar. We had our takeaway last night; at 9pm! It was an hour and a half late, so we ended up staying up late ourselves. I tracked it as best I could. Had two lots of bad news today; my boss, and friend, has a new job. She'll be leaving in April. I'm sad about it and it's pushing thoughts…
  • For anybody that wondered, the recipe I posted is lovely. We used 2 duck breasts and made 4 tacos, which was enough for two of us. We didn't add the salt, or the pico de gallo.
  • DD265 PW: 86.4kg CW: 86.5kg A slight gain from last week but down from yesterday. @jugar I do wonder how accurate the exercise calories are; it's calculated by my Garmin. I try not to eat them all, usually leaving around 100kcal 'spare' a day. I will try this week to not eat above my goal at all (today is likely an…
  • I'm glad you're feeling ok @jugar My weight is still fluctuating around the same 300g. Bit frustrating, especially when I see people on my ex-WW group posting 3lb+ losses every week. I keep telling myself what they're doing may not be sustainable and what I'm doing really feels like it is... Unless I'm sleep walking into…
  • Weigh daily with Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale. Connects directly to my Garmin app which feeds my weight into MFP. I'm interested in having the data, but I take account of the overall trend on a weekly basis. Measure fortnightly. Photos monthly.
  • Thanks, I will have a look at duck confit - not something I've done before!
  • @jugar good luck for the surgery and recovery, I hope it all goes smoothly
  • James Clear (in a book about building habits I believe) said "just show up". For me it means 2 things: 1) often getting started is the hardest part, continuing is easy 2) 5 minutes exercise or 1 meal tracked is better than nothing. Use it as a stepping stone. I don't need to do it as much now, but on WW when I was trying…
  • Happy Tuesday all. I went for a solo run last night; was good to get out after a day on a boring training course and I wanted to get a run in, in case the weather worsened. Thankfully my lungs seemed to be operating at full capacity; I inhaled too much sanding dust on Saturday (I was wearing a mask, but took it off in…
  • DD265 PW: 86.6 CW:86.4 At the bottom of the 300g :D I'm on a remote training course this week, in some ways it's nice not to have the stress of my busy day job (last night was the most peaceful I've felt in a while) but I struggle to focus when I'm being 'talked at'. Luckily, it's 4 hours instructor lead and then some…
  • Had a couple of quiet days on here, manic offline. Worked late Friday, did the food shop in the evening, went for a (muddy) run yesterday then spent hours sanding the new desks, walk and cleaning/tidying today. The 300g I've been fluctuating around have gone - hopefully that's still the case on the scales tomorrow.
  • It's late so a quick one from me... Have stayed on track calorie wise, managed to drink enough and get my 5 a day in. Ankles too sore to wear socks today nevermind shoes, but managed to do 30 mins on the rebounder so pleased with that. Spent the evening in my current happy place; on the sofa doing cross stitch!
  • 1 week... I hope time flies for you @jugar! My rebounder arrived today. 30 minutes on that and I know about it, blimey. I couldn't go for a walk at lunch as my ankles are too sore to wear more than slippers, and whilst 30 mins on the rebounder was tough (and dragged a little, even watching TV) it felt effective. I needed…
  • Nevermind running, we might as well have been swimming, or perhaps building an ark. I think that's quite possibly the worst rain I've been running in - and my waterproofs could only do so much. I was wet enough to warrant stripping off on the inside door mat, rather than dripping my way through the house. :D We did an hour…
  • Hi everyone Back at work today, and it's amazing what can build up over a long weekend. We have far too much work on (a blessing and a curse) so stress levels are very high. I'm achy, but have arranged to go for a steady run with a friend after work as I will want to clear my head. It's a case of getting in the outdoors…
  • DD265 PW: 192 CW: 191 @jugar I think you said before, but is it OK if I weigh in KG going forward? Welcome @kiay131982! I ended up running solo last night, and still went. We're due some snow/ice (though it doesn't appear to be forthcoming) and I knew that I'd regret it if I didn't go out, even though I'd already…
  • I'm Katie, I live in Derbyshire in England, a bit north of Nottingham. I work in IT, currently full time from home due to the pandemic. I gained weight in my early 20s, probably due to hormones as well as lifestyle changes, and I've been trying on and off for over 10 years to lose it. I finally abandoned the WW plan (the…
  • Hey everyone, happy Friday. I finished work (1hr late, again) but managed to get out for a run in daylight. Bliss. We ran for an hour; I wasn't feeling it at all on Wednesday, but my body was on better form today and when we were going to end on 56minutes, I suggested we push on. I seems to take about 45 minutes to get in…
  • @jugar That's an interesting way of looking at it, basically turning hunger on it's head. I was snacking mid/late morning, and mid/late afternoon, then 'using up' my calories in an evening, usually on (unhealthy) carbs. I'm satisfied after my meals, and the portion sizes are smaller than I was eating last year, so the day…
  • @micki48 Thank you, that story gives me hope. I am glad your husband is well. Thanks all for the good wishes. FIL was able to sit in a chair yesterday which sounds like a good omen. I have everything crossed. I kind of messed up yesterday; we went out for lunch (to buy a sandwich/wrap - we do this once a week to break up…
  • That's a really big change, you look fab. Like Andrea, I kind of have 'tiers' based on my energy levels. Base line is a 30 minute walk - and it can be split into several, if I really don't feel like it. If I'm feeling more energetic, I'll run or do a workout at home. As I'm at the start of my journey, my calorie allowance…
  • @micki48 Here's a WIP photo. At this point, we've stripped the metal from the boards (barring a couple of nails that will not come out), sanded them to clean them, treated any parts which were soft, and filled the worst of the damage (the really pale bits, which should stain to match). We're trying to keep the character of…
  • I have a Garmin Vivoactive 4S and love it. I was drawn to Garmin and as I have small wrists, the smaller size (and metal bezel) of this one. I've previously had Fitbits but I've heard mixed things about the quality, and the Garmin feels a bit more hardcore for more activities than just tracking steps.
  • DD265 Weigh In Day: Monday PW (Previous Weight): 192.6lb CW (Current Weight): 192.0lb I had a loss overall this week, but a slight gain overnight. I think it's my cycle; I feel bloated and urgh. Ice has stopped outdoor exercise; we went for a walk on Saturday evening (and to do a small food shop in the village stores) but…
  • I got the Garmin Index S2 Smart Scales - no more manually inputting my weight
