  • Currently I have so many calories available to me (it feels like it, anyway! 1923 a day) that if I didn't snack on a daily basis I'd never get through them. I can tell I'm still snacking sometimes out of habit rather than hunger, but I guess as my calorie goal drops, the snacking will reduce/change anyway.
  • Here you go: http://fit101.org/the-step-by-step-guide-to-losing-weight-with-myfitnesspal/  There's a lot of other threads here which are worth a read too.
  • I've found my breasts feel perkier after massage. Bonus points if I get my husband to do it. Somewhere, there'll be a woman wishing she had a figure like mine, whilst I want that perfect body over there. And the person in that perfect body will have her own hang ups, and so on. I think as we get older, the importance we…
  • Happy birthday @jugar
  • You're human, no excuse required. I guess if we were happy 100% of the time, it'd stop feeling good? We've got to empty the spare bedroom tonight - which means dismantling an Ikea day bed so that'll take a few hours - because we have a plasterer coming to do the ceiling tomorrow. He only came round to quote us this…
  • This is exactly what I do, too. 375g of sausage meat + 375g of puff pastry (because I cheat and buy ready rolled..) = 16 servings of 1 sausage roll at 145calories each. When I log the recipe then, I just select 1, or however many, servings.
  • I loved my Salomon Speedcross 4. I'm a little less thrilled with my Speedcross 5, but think it's the additional weight I'm carrying now, the fact that we're exclusively road running (boooo) and that my body isn't properly conditioned. So I got Brooks Ghost 13 for road running after a gait analysis; these resolved the…
  • @jugar By the time I sat down at 9.30pm I was very tired and a little bit grumpy! I didn't do all the cooking I'd planned; chocolate muffins and digestive biscuits (both WW recipes) coming up tonight. @eggfreak OH = Other Half. I like 'Okay Husband' though, or maybe 'Odd Husband' :D I started run/walk in November. That…
  • My personal trainer is a physiotherapist and an athlete in his own right. He really knows his stuff, and practises what he preaches. He spent months building up my posterior chain and core before we started lifting weights. The emphasis was always on having a strong foundation, and being technically proficient so that I…
  • I've had similar experiences with others on the sleep. As far as the body battery goes, it's not a replacement for how I'm feeling, but it is interesting. If I have a day with massive drain, or it barely recharged overnight, I might check to see whether it's a reasonable assessment and if so, is there something I ought to…
  • @Gidgitgoescrazy I think it's OK to need a break. Your plan - to join Noom, and ease back on exercise but not cut it completely - is a good one, because you aren't quitting, you're changing approach and taking some pressure off yourself.
  • DD265 Weigh In Day: Monday PW (Previous Weight): 194lb CW (Current Weight): 192.6lb Happy Monday all. Sorry I've been a bit quiet - had a busy weekend away from the computer, and I'm trying to avoid spending time staring at my phone. I spent my Friday afternoon doing the food shopping, then went for a run. I had nobody to…
  • Happy Friday! Its lunchtime and I've finished work for the week, which is much appreciated after the brain-drain that was yesterday. Finished 2 hours late, feeling like a zombie, but made myself do a dance workout and met my other goals. More home made soup for lunch today, then I'll go do the food shop at the butchers and…
  • PMS does it to me. Or a concussion. At least with PMS I'm just hungry in general, with a concussion I feel as though I could eat my way through an entire supermarket confectionary aisle in a week - those sugar cravings are unreal.
  • Hi everyone We're having a takeaway for tea tonight (it's my birthday) and I've guesstimated the calories based on database entries. I looked at getting the food from a chain where I might be able to get accurate nutritional information, but the only local option I would have fancied is Wagamama and they're closed. We're…
  • I think this is good advice. I've also read about how lack of sleep affects driving, and think we don't place enough importance on quality of sleep. That said, I'm certain that my issue is caused by an increased level of exertion as there's a direct correlation, so I won't be making a special trip to the doctor's in the…
  • DD265 Weigh In Day: Monday PW (Previous Weight): 195lb CW (Current Weight): 194lb Another 1lb off. I'm a little surprised the numbers haven't been higher to begin with, as they usually would be more like 4-5lb if I got back on the WW bandwagon, but I'm wondering whether drinking 2l+ of water a day (which is not something I…
  • There was zero snow overnight and no sign of any this morning (it's now 11). I know British weather is unpredictable but... :D I finish work at 12.30 on a Friday, so I'll probably drive to the butchers then go for a run nearer home and make the most of the daylight. I was thinking about a straw - it'd need to be a long one…
  • Hey all, it's coming into Thursday evening here and it's cold. We're due heavy snow overnight/tomorrow, so I'm planning to do the supermarket shop tonight (or send OH tonight). I've already meal planned but need to check ingredients. I can walk to the butchers tomorrow if needs be, and unless the snow is exaggerated, it…
  • Hey, I'm in the UK and have just done the same. I was struggling to follow the plan (I think its great but there wasn't enough focus for me) for a couple of years but am finding counting calories a lot easier to stick with so far.
  • Made it for the evening run after all, and after a tough start got into it so we turned away from home and went further. Ended by going up our hill - it's 35ft climb over 1/4 of a mile (that doesn't sound like a lot actually, but it feels it!) - was doing lamppost to lamppost but it was actually easier to run as I could…
  • I did not feel like getting out of bed this morning! It's halfway through the week, at least. I got the run in last night, husband ran down to the garage with me then he drove the car home and I ran back. Very slowly; it was up hill all the way. But I did it without stopping and even added a little extra on to take me over…
  • Thanks for all the input. I'll take a proper look at the suggestions when I'm not supposed to be working. ;) I had what felt like a harder than usual run last night and slept fine. I suspect staying hydrated (which I'm actively working on this month) is key too. One of the challenges will be that I've gone from eating cr*p…
  • Thanks both. I'll look into potassium; not sure if it's contained in my multivitamin but I'm not supplementing it separately, though I am partial to a banana. I'm definitely guilty of not always stretching out after a run (my workouts usually do incorporate stretching, at least) and I have a foam roller so I'll give that a…
  • As somebody who used to run regularly and is now starting from scratch, heart rate serves 2 purposes for me. 1) A 30 minute work out which averages at/over 70% + of my (220-age) max heart rate gains me 8 'points' on my health insurance, and that 5x a week gets me free Amazon Prime ;) 2) If I'm struggling mentally I might…
  • @sarkrisd I hope you get over it quickly. I finally had a better night's sleep - not perfect but better. Maybe being back in the work routine is helping. I did have restless legs though and that's always a problem for me after a step up in workout intensity. Yesterday was 30 minutes of resistance bands and body weight…
  • DD265 Weigh In Day: Monday PW (Previous Weight): 196lb CW (Current Weight): 195lb I'd put my starting weight as 200lb, but when I weighed myself on the 1st I was 196lb. Either way, I'm happy with a loss. First day back at work today - which is working from home at my desk. Did not get up early enough to exercise…
  • Hi all I'm Katie, 32 living in the UK with my husband and our cats. I've been overweight for over 10 years now and despite losing quite a lot on WW 4 years ago, I've put it all back on as I'm an emotional eater. This is my first month doing MFP so I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. :) I've just posted on the…
  • I love my resistance bands. I have cables and loops (the light elasticated kind you can put around your legs, plus the seriously thick kind). My workouts came from my personal trainer who's a physio, but I know enough to be able to pick up exercises elsewhere and incorporate them. I enjoy dancing, so I've got the Figure 8…
  • It's almost identical to IIFYM. As I build up exercise I will factor that in. Thanks both, I'll stick to the 1870 initially and see how January goes. :)
