@Megan_smartiepants1970 7/1 steps 4,104 So yesterday was one of those off plan days. While I did half plan for the happy hour, I did not wake up early to walk like I should have so steps are not good. Plus, I ate according to my plan yesterday but drank 3 glasses of wine as opposed to the 2 I budgeted for. Good news is…

Walking was the first exercise I introduced and I find it is as good for the mind/soul as it is for the body. There are a lot of body weight exercises you can start doing for some strength training. There are apps that help you progress from doing like 1 squat to doing multiple squats a day for example. For a little…

Good morning Downsizers! I love this group and this is my favorite place to come and read and share. @Megan_smartiepants1970 6/30 steps 11,192 (WHAT?!) So, my sister and I started a weight loss contest with each other 8 weeks ago. Every 4 weeks the person who has lost the highest percentage of weight wins $25 from the…

Fantastic start, keep putting in the effort!

Without a significant amount of fat/weight to lose, it is going to be a much slower process. Did you take measurements six weeks ago and recently to compare? With strength training starting 6 weeks ago, it is possible a little newbie muscle gain and some water retention for muscle repair may be masking the fat loss on the…

I feel like my fingers are still fat despite losing over 20lbs so far! And when I walk outside in the heat/humidity, oh man do they swell.

Good morning Downsizers! @Megan_smartiepants1970 6/29 steps 10,557 So, I had a slip up yesterday. Ate a very healthy dinner and then when putting the kids' leftover pizza away, I started shoveling it into my mouth instead. WHAT?! And if that wasn't bad enough, I then ate half a bar of dark chocolate. SERIOUSLY?! Okay... so…

@TheresaM787 The rebounder is kind of fun and I have it set up in front of the TV to distract me from the dull repetition of it (much like all cardio machines) so that helps. It’s a bit harder than walking briskly so 30 minutes was a good limit. I think I already had about 2500 steps for the day when I started so did not…

@Megan_smartiepants1970 6/28 steps 7,730 Rained yesterday evening so no walk, had to jump 30 minutes on the rebounder just to get the 7,730. Looks like a lot of rain in the forecast the next several days. Ugh though I know we need it. Not much else going on here, oh I do have that happy hour on Thursday with some former…

1-2lbs a week is the general consensus of healthy weight loss so you’re doing quite well at 2. I would think more about the level of exercise that will be sustainable versus trying to speed up weight loss.

The way we lose weight is not complex, it is simple. It requires a relatively consistent calorie deficit. The hard, or complex, part is HOW we accomplish the deficit and being consistent. We have to change our relationship with food and change what we eat, how much we eat, or both. That can be difficult for certain and…

It just sunk in that we’re on a new month here too! I was a bit shy of meeting my June goal of losing 6 lbs (5.2!) and I think the weight loss is starting to slow down now that I’ve passed the midway point. So, I am shooting for 5 lbs in July. Other July goals: Strength training 3x a week Rowing 3x a week 10k steps a day…

This process has so much of a mental aspect to it, that’s for sure. While I tend to be more B than A, I can easily be obsessive about things. Like you, the success has me desiring more. Completely normal of course. What I need to remember is that the initial plan of eating within a reasonable calorie deficit and just…

@Megan_smartiepants1970 6/24 steps 9,678 @lindamtuck2018 Some awesome NSVs! I need to remember to consider the NSVs from time to time especially when the scale and I are not on speaking terms @rwood566 fantastic step count! @888Angie888 wow!! Super loss this week! @TheresaM787 you’re so right on! Eventually in maintenance…

Wow, 40lbs since Feb is awesome progress and quite fast! I definitely would not suggest going further than 2lb per week and that even may be too fast actually, depending on how much more weight you want to lose. How long has it been since you lost anything? It is more likely just a short stall than an actual plateau (which…

@iradi8 I feel your pain, the scale and I are having relationship issues this week. I am up .6 from my low of four days ago. Mentally I hate going back up after a low weight but it’s worse when it takes more than a day or two to go back down. @Megan_smartiepants1970 6/23 steps 9,677 I was ordering pizza last night for the…

I have been weighing daily for the last 12 weeks and have only had 6 times I fluctuated 1lb or more (1.8, 1, 1, 1.2, 1.2, 1)

I can see how messages with all of those things on that list can seem extremely overwhelming and honestly a whole lot of noise that is unnecessary to reach your goal. I think you are already spot on actually. You have lost 25 lbs so clearly what you are doing is working! Most people on the boards here are supportive and…

Same! My credit card statement has Amazon printed all over it!

That must have been some breakfast! lol Let's see... I would probably go for some lean protein like grilled or roasted chicken breast and either pair it with a huge salad base or maybe a bunch of riced cauliflower for some bulk so you find it filling.

Wow, I continue to be impressed with the level of physical activity of this group!! Exercise has always been my nemesis and doing any at all is a big accomplishment for me but sometimes I feel like quite a slouch here! Lol @Megan_smartiepants1970 6/22 steps 9,257

@JNettie73 wow, you’re attacking that June goal aren’t you?! @skinnyjeanzbound sounds like you have developed a strong consistent routine with eating and exercise, and are making progress! I have really made an effort this time around to see these changes as permanent, not just to do for awhile to lose weight. Joni Age 48…

Good morning! @Megan_smartiepants1970 6/21 steps 9,514 I did not walk as far yesterday, my Apple watch was almost fead and I wanted to make sure I got credit for what I had done so far lol

So, I purchased this exact scale from Amazon before really reading the reviews. I quickly noticed what others were saying that as your weight fluctuates, the other measurements like body fat seem to follow the same trend. They speculate it’s more based on a formula than an actual measurement. After a few days, I went back…

{{{hugs}}} I was in the same boat back in March. Decided it was a good time to focus on me and get the body I wanted.

It is easy to overthink things and also to over complicate the process which then overwhelms us and we throw up our hands in frustration. If you’ve entered your basic info and set a reasonable weight loss goal, MFP will set a calorie goal that includes a deficit to lose weight. As far as macros, protein is the important…

Going through this process now to be healthier, I have wanted to kick myself for waiting so long to get serious about it. Then I realized that it was a pretty useless exercise as it changes absolutely nothing. Instead I choose to feel good about the choices I am making today and every day to change my body for the better.…
