Centennial read like a Western, complete with Native Americans and cowpunchers and it was a multi-generational story about a town in Colorado. I had no idea what I was getting but finished the 1,100 page book in a week, immersion read with the 50 hour audiobook. I like Westerns so I rated it 5* but I can see how some might…

I paused my western which I intend to finish by the end of the year and I'm about 1/3 through the 51 hour long James Michener book Centennial, the first book I have ever read by Michener. I thought it was strange how he started with the beginning and stories about dinosaurs; I had no idea what kind of book I was picking up…

Yes, the sequel was good too. The author stated at the end that she wrote the book (the sequel) while experiencing long-Covid CFS/ME. I have two friends with CFS/ME and sort of understand how little energy people with that condition have. Current read is Gleanings by Neal Shusterman.

Cemetery Road by Greg Iles was MUCH better than the 7th Penn Cage novel that was so very political. The politics inserted into Southern Man was over the top, even if I agreed with some of the opinions, I wanted to read a Greg Iles Penn Cage thriller and not a political treatise against Trump. I was disappointed by Southern…

I squeezed in Calamity, book 3 of the Reckoners trilogy by Brandon Sanderson yesterday. It was a marathon read, I had nothing else going on and read it in a day. I hit my reading goal for the year by beating my highest year ever in stats and I still have a month to go. I can't really go by the number of pages because I…

Hiya, Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I'm reading book 5 of the Harry Potter series this weekend, The Order of the Phoenix. The last book I read, book 9 of Preston and Child's Agent Pendergast series Cemetery Dance was good, a bit better than some of the previous ones in this series. I think the duo's writing skills are…

I really really liked The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury. I also read a western trilogy that wasn't horrible. And a Star Wars book that I didn't care for as much. Now I am reading the new book by Michael J. Sullivan, Drumindor, it is a fantasy.

The Racketeer by John Grisham was purely fictional and a good thriller. Nothing needed to be researched for the story according to the author.
-
Gone South by Robert McCammon was ok. The Brightwood Code by Monica Hesse was pretty good, as was Blood Song by Anthony Ryan, I am looking forward to reading more of that series by Ryan. I'm reading Cage of Souls by Adrian Tchaikovsky which is really good so far.

Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune is a neat little lighter read. It isn't on the short side, being 15 hours on Audiobook (many average around 10) but it is a good story about a jerk-man who dies and has trouble accepting his death when he gets to the "other side". It is on the humorous side in parts.

I am finishing Chapterhouse Dune by Frank Herbert, book 6 of his original Dune series before he passed away. I am glad to be finishing it. Books 1, 2, and 3 were really good. Book 4 I didn't get, Maud'dib's son Leto II was a sandworm and had lived thousands of years... Hmmm.... Now I am in book 6 and it is like 10,000…

In the WW2 historical fiction book I just read the girl was reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne in braille, and I was interested in the story, I have never read it, so it is my current read right now.

I hardly watch any tv. Usually I can't get any reading in until the evenings lately. I didn't tell many people that I read for 2 years every day, most people I know don't read or care about it. Thanks!

Well I hit it, 2 years straight on the Kindle reading every single day, even through living with my dad helping him with horrible Covid in '23 and horrible triple bypass surgery in '24. It was HARD to accomplish this feat.

I'm reading the Pulitzer Prize winning historical fiction novel All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

As I wait for my giant mug of tea to cool, and my steel cut oats, I thought I would post another Tea of the Day journal. This one is Assam Melody and it is my favorite Assam, it is a new pick for me from Adagio. It is a solid black tea that is inexpensive enough to brew in large quantities for an all day sip. I left some…

Wow, A Calamity of Souls by David Baldacci is a good one! This is my first Baldacci novel, and I think I may have picked the best one. I'm about half done and I can't put it down.

I want to read the Alice Hoffman series too, but I haven't yet decided in which order, chronological like you chose or in publication order. The author says she doesn't recommend one method over another, it is your choice. I'm reading The Wheel of Darkness (Agent Pendergast series book 8) by Douglas Preston and Lincoln…

I read a pair of JA Johnstone Westerns with an Audible Original crammed in between, a science fiction book in the Bobiverse series by Dennis E. Taylor. The premise of that series is witty and humorous, so all of these reads have been light and not too serious, a nice change. I'm now beginning Gallant by V.E. Schwab which…

Continuing my reread of Harry Potter with book 4, it is really long (21 hours). I am about 6 hours into it and they finally got to the school after the Quidditch world cup, a section that was a bit slow and boring.

Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America by Barbara Ehrenreich was very good, it reminded me of Evicted by Matthew Desmond. Or maybe the other way around since Barbara's book was written in 2001. She spends time working as a low paid or minimum wage earning woman in three areas of the country trying to get by on…

I don't think I have posted this Tea of the Day before, Pu-Erh Chorange, or Orange Chocolate Pu-erh tea. Described by Adagio: "Rich chocolate and sweet orange bring a confectionary note to the gentle earthiness of Pu-erh. Lively citrus lifts the blend while the warm chocolate and easygoing Pu-erh are grounding and smooth."…

I ground my smoked peppers into powder and it is wonderful dusted on a bowl of chili or soup! Everything is done, I vacuum sealed the dried and smoked and dried peppers into small bags and put them in the freezer for preservation. Today we had frost on some roofs so I picked all the rest of the small jalapenos off the…

I missed the Summer Kindle Challenge completion by 1 badge because on Prime Day I forgot to go online with my kindle even though I read that day and it counted it toward my streak, it didn't give me the badge for reading on that day. I think I found a bug in the game. On October 28 I will have 2 complete years as a streak…

Today's tea is Autumn Mist Green by Adagio. This one is brand new to me, and it is a good pick for a fall day. The gunpowder has a slight smoke flavor, and the apples and cinnamon really come out in the finish. I have a batch of jalapeno peppers in the food dehydrator in the garage (because the pepper scent is pretty…

I figured out my Kindle issue, on my new device. It was bugged and I did a de-register and factory reset and that fixed the problems. I had emailed Amazon Customer Service because I hate talking to them on the phone, not that I judge the people working for them in another country, but I have trouble hearing and…

How did you get the books to transfer like a dream? Please tell me... I bought a new Kindle from Woot because my Oasis doesn't hold a charge very long anymore, being from 2018 and heavily used. I have about a zillion kindle books, I am not sure how many, and can't figure out how to download ALL of them to the new device at…

For a YA novel They Went Left was ok. I am interested in some of the other historical fiction novels written by Monica Hesse, I looked them up at my libraries and put a couple of them on wishlists. I'm reading The Road to the Country by Chigozie Obioma, and like his other novels The Fisherman and An Orchestra of Minorites…

Here is another cool Tea of the Day, Adagio's Milk Oolong. I am new to oolong, I have always had black or green teas before.

Is there a wrong way to post or reply? I don't know, I just do it. I'm not the owner of this group, any way you please is fine with me. Sounds like you are reading an ok book, not stellar, sometimes I read books that I know are going to be that way. I can't always read 5 star books, that blow me away, I like to mix it up.…
