My Tea of the Day is a new one to me, Yunnan. It is hand rolled and looks kind of like snails, as the package says. It's a wonderful addition to my collection, a new favorite! Look at how the leaf unfurls in the French Press, how neat! I used 10 grams in a 32 oz French Press, 2.5 grams per cup, steeped for 5 minutes with 212 degree filtered water.

Here is another cool Tea of the Day, Adagio's Milk Oolong. I am new to oolong, I have always had black or green teas before.

Today's tea is Autumn Mist Green by Adagio. This one is brand new to me, and it is a good pick for a fall day.
The gunpowder has a slight smoke flavor, and the apples and cinnamon really come out in the finish.
I have a batch of jalapeno peppers in the food dehydrator in the garage (because the pepper scent is pretty strong), I have never done this before and it is taking longer than I expected. Oh well, they will get done when they do. It's been 12 hours and it looks like they have another 12 to go before I am satisfied that they are fully dried and won't mold. I plan to grind some for pepper flakes for pizzas, but store the bulk in the freezer vacuum sealed. Later this week I am going to try out a used smoker my dad purchased, smoke a batch to make chipotle peppers. I bought apple wood chips and will give them 4 hours in the smoke, but they won't be all the way dry so I will finish them up in the dehydrator. This will make great chili powder for soups and chili. I am up to my ears in jalapenos because I planted too many and they had a late season crop.

Good luck with the peppers. I hope they dry well. I used to fire roast and freeze green chilis for use when they are out of season. May have to try that again. The tea looks lovely.2

I ground my smoked peppers into powder and it is wonderful dusted on a bowl of chili or soup! Everything is done, I vacuum sealed the dried and smoked and dried peppers into small bags and put them in the freezer for preservation.
Today we had frost on some roofs so I picked all the rest of the small jalapenos off the plants and harvested 1 3/4 pounds more. I'm going to see if my sister or her step-daughter want any, but they probably don't, I'm not sure what I will do with them... I have had enough jalapenos this season but I didn't want to let them go to waste by freezing in the garden.2 -
I don't think I have posted this Tea of the Day before, Pu-Erh Chorange, or Orange Chocolate Pu-erh tea. Described by Adagio: "Rich chocolate and sweet orange bring a confectionary note to the gentle earthiness of Pu-erh. Lively citrus lifts the blend while the warm chocolate and easygoing Pu-erh are grounding and smooth." I'm enjoying the chocolaty-ness and the orange does come through, although that is a weaker flavor. It has bits of orange in it. It reminds me of the chocolate orange candies that I love.

As I wait for my giant mug of tea to cool, and my steel cut oats, I thought I would post another Tea of the Day journal. This one is Assam Melody and it is my favorite Assam, it is a new pick for me from Adagio. It is a solid black tea that is inexpensive enough to brew in large quantities for an all day sip. I left some out the other night and thought, well that is probably wrecked now, but I tasted it cold and think it would make a fantastic iced tea too, I will have to try that out.
I think today I will cook my remaining two butternut squash and get them in the freezer. They are just a tad smaller than the jumbo 11.6 pound one, maybe 9 pounds each? The flavor is super, these are at peak ripeness. I look forward to having squash for dinner (along with something on the side, ha ha).
