Avoiding all the technical stuff, I will give my opinion to your IF question. You stated you play hockey a lot, do you think Brad Marchand or David Pastmak uses IF to increase performance and maintain weight? I would guess no. Why not do what the best do in your chosen activities? Eat a nutritious diet, burn more than you…

Good advice here!! However, losing weight and maintaining are hard. We are bombarded with food ads on tv and elsewhere. I'm always hungry and sometimes just stare in the fridge, knowing I just want to eat. I'm now eating almost 3k calories a day in maintenance but just as hungry when I was eating less than 2k while losing.…

Check your uric acid on your next blood test. Generally it is something you must ask to get tested.

This is an interesting read...imo, recommended for only a very, very few!

The results are in...although my overall cholesterol is high, 209, it is down from 246 a year ago. Also my HDL is higher and LDL and Triglycerides are lower, good!!! I find my diet satisfying and delicious so worrying about fat intake seems like outdated thinking. I do, however, limit sources of foods from animals that…

You look fit and beautiful, eat the peanut butter and enjoy it. It's good for you.

I enjoy chatting with vegans, even though I’m not….haha! 2 small dogs, in Florida.

I’m amazed with my Garmin, exceeded my expectations.

Nice observation and if people need a diet break for any reason, go for it. However, the science really doesn’t support that in 3 months at 1500 calories your metabolism will slow; if for example that person is cutting 1000 calories per day to lose 2 lbs per week.

I find it rewarding when people say I'm to thin and I remind myself what a fit person really looks like. Have a goal and don't let others deter you and keep working.

Currently I’m exploring foods that are consider “cheat, junk” foods that add to my health goals and are nutritious. Examples: high protein Bootalious muffins; air “fried” onion rings soaked in Silk Milk and coated with almond flour; air popped popcorn flavored with cinnamon, monk fruit sugar, and sugar calorie free caramel…

I've only used a Garmin watch and it works perfectly. I'm amazed by what it does. I strength train and it seems to know what body parts I'm working. I go on bike rides and it knows without me tell it. Syncs perfectly with MFP.

I hit my goal weight August 21 and it felt amazing, having not been that weight since maybe 1982. Since then I've been 7 lbs heavier during the last month, however my diet, exercise and tracking have been "spot on". My goals now don't involve the scale much and more about the tape measure and pictures. It feels great to…

Stick to your plan! If you’re doing what you are saying, it will work. With the amount of exercise you’re doing you need “good” carbs. Low carb diets, IMO, are for people who are not active. Be patient and keep working.

I have nearly an identical mindset to you (OP), completely eliminating certain foods that I don’t think contribute to my fitness goals. In the past I have gone 4 or 5 years, most recently I’m on a year and 1/2 streak. However, I have always failed long term and gained weight. This time I’m hoping for a permanent result…

Hello and congrats! Although I’m maintaining now after losing about 60# in the last year and a 1/2, I understand the struggle. I fight myself everyday to eat healthy and not overeat. GL and keep fighting; if you are inclined friend me.

Add me if inclined. Trying to maintain after losing 60#, maybe 5# to go, but going is slow and tough.

Trying to stay motivated through the new year as a start. Start a group and I’m in.

I’ve lost nearly 60 lbs in the last year and 1/2, for the 2nd time in 10 years. I have lost 20+ lbs maybe a 1/2 dozen times in my life. My Jan 1 goal is maintain or lose 5 more lbs. I’m losing or gaining always, unfortunately can never maintain for very long. Hopefully, since I’m new to MFP, this site will keep me focused…

In college I played football and hurt my ankle badly; had to concentrate on PT..my lifting partner, mike, said why have you stopped lifting. My response was, "I'm hurt and have to rehabilitate my ankle". He said, "you can't train your upper body", with a puzzled look!!!! It's something I've tried to keep me motivated my…

Yes, my motivation is extremely low right now! I have lost almost 60 lbs in the last + year and trying to maintain, lose 5 more, but have been gaining recently!! Hurt my knee yesterday and the frigid is calling my name. Supporters are needed also because my wife keeps saying I lost to much weight.

I use a Garmin linked to MFP from over 2 months, weighing and tracking all food. I’m missing about 250 calories per day between exercise and under estimating food calories. Sounds like you have a similar error and the simple solution is stated by the poster above. GL!

I’m gaining or losing weight my entire life. Lost about 60 lbs twice too, and 20 maybe a half dozen. Friend me if inclined. Trying to maintain weight again….

I'm either losing or gaining...it's a struggle. Friend me if inclined.

Currently I'm trying to compete at the senior pro level in pickleball, so that is providing additional motivation. However, I'm hoping MFP friends will provide extra motivation to eat healthier and maintain my diet. I have lost weight many times but unfortunately tend to gain it back. At 52 now, want to stay fit and lean…
