Track absolutely everything would be my biggest piece of advice, tbsp of mayo, log it, a cup of milk, log it, etc. For fitness I stick to the basics, sit-ups, push-ups, lunges, etc. Good luck!

I joined MFP recently as well. My tip would be to ensure everything is logged, I was really surprised the number of calories I was consuming!
