  • Great. So I'm glad I set it to sedentary too. I also don't count all the short walks or moving around, just the "official" walks.
  • Ha! Why didn't I think of that? Using my diary in MyFitnessPal paired with my weight measurements to compare my actual losses to the projected losses! I'll be sure to do in a few months once I've lost weight again. Thanks!
  • Thanks for reassuring me. I know what you mean about being conservative in the estimate for the exercise calories. I have a FitBit, and I disconnected it from my MyFitnessPal account because I think it greatly exaggerates the calories burned. As I said, I should be more confident about what I am recording based on having…
  • I do raise my head some. On the worse nights, I sleep on my back on my wedge pillow. on the better nights, I pile up 3 or 4 pillows. Recently, I've been able to sleep almost flat with just one pillow. I'm finding that after being on reduced calorie diet for the last 5 months by now, and losing 29 pounds so far with 10 - 15…
  • Does the caffeine keep you up? If I have a coffee at the end of the afternoon or later, I don't get to sleep until 1:00 AM.

Otherwise, I have to eat a breakfast, lunch and dinner with occasional snacks in between, so I don't fast in any other way. I learned a…
  • I'm glad I never got into fat and sweet coffee because that's fewer calories to count. For fun, I looked up the nutrition for a venti Mocha Frappucino from Starbucks, and it's impressive at around 1/3 of my current daily calorie target:
  • That's interesting. Skip the coffee. Go straight to the caffeine :D
  • Interesting. When it comes to "sensitive stomachs", many factors come into play: caffeine level, acidity, added ingredients including fat and sweets, quantity, etc. In the end, the only take away I should remember is that coffee disturbs my stomach and that I should limit my consumption or avoid it entirely. I have to…
  • See my reply to WailingDusk :)
  • I drink my coffee black, no sugar. I prefer dark roast, which is perhaps too strong for me?
  • I'm a 62 year-old male. Due the increasingly bad combination of the consequences of acid reflux and sleep apnea, I had a scary medical episode in early January that finally pushed me to take control of my eating and weight. I started out being 30 pounds over my ideal weight. The worst thing I was doing was eating dessert…
