What! Have some fun! After Canada got beaten by Croatia 4 - 1 !!! OH Canada indeed JACKIE. However they will improve with time and experience. Actually they did very well against such an experienced side as Croatia. I think England play Wales on Tuesday. Oh boy Anne, hide the cookies! I eat when I’m stressed, lol.

Just read JACKIE on the laptop. Dire is an understatement Jackie! I don’t expect Canada to do well, after all, it’s a relatively new sport over here although it is catching on. Anne.

Morning all. I watched the game LIN and gnashed my teeth throughout. England ,,,,,,, stodgy. Not a good game to watch and I’ve seen better games when Derek was six years old and he joined a soccer group and he was HOPELESS. We enrolled him in ice hockey instead where he was hopeless as well, BUT he could beat all the kids…

This is weird, I can read everyone’s posts on my laptop, but can’t see them here on my iPad. I can’t reply on my laptop, but I can here on my iPad. So…..if I disappear again don’t send out a search party! 0 - 0 for England versus America at the World Cup, Anne.

Thank you for info JACKIE, Anne.

LOVE the thanksgiving “card” LIN and there’s Jilly at the top! Must order a can of pumpkin to try out the treats. I have everything else! Anne.

Oh, it turned out okay. The top seemed to be missing before posting. Lol. I’d just like to add something which has been troubling me for some time.. Here goes. When Ellen’s (I spelt her name wrong above) husband Bill was diagnosed with diabetes she ate exactly the same food as him and she got thinner and thinner. Finally…

The weather here is becoming very British! Earth warming? Two days in a row we have had real pea soupers. It reminded me so much of riding my bike to work when I still was at home in Yorkshire. And that’s maybe why my groceries not only came early but ultra early. I said to the man who staggered up the steps I was very…

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL! Just about to eat my porridge and then a quick dash to the shower because my delivery grocery man ALWAYS comes early, which probably means he won’t be early today. BIG news here for me, Jilly finally adjusted to the new hour today. Hope she keeps it up! Hope today is wonderful for everyone and…

I’ve just read SANDY and JACKIES posts above me. They weren’t there when I wrote my bit. Girls - what sad and awful news for you both. Sandy, there is good news about the thyroid disease. One of my old friends now in a nursing home has had it for years and years and takes the medication. You must be terribly worried about…

Mmm, gloom, despair and all that, lol. Canada lost its first match in the World Cup to Belgium. Meanwhile back IN Canada Bean took Mary Jo and me for a long walk in spring like weather. Having got used to snow flurries and ice I wore my winter boots and anorak which I didn’t need. Take care Sneakers when out in the big…

I emailed Jackie this morning to say I couldn’t join you all again. I’m trying again to see if this will work. Fingers crossed and here goes. If it works will be back later, Anne.

Boy JACKIE, that WAS one dark movie, but as you say I liked it as well. Sort of glad I'm not Irish and living in Victorian times though. Jilly the Beano is indeed fast asleep. I can't wait for LINs weather to drift over because its been jolly cold here. Oh and good for you Lin. Why do other people think they know us better…

Good morning everyone. I've just eaten my oatmeal with a small handful of sultanas and a small handful of walnuts. Sometimes I chop up a banana to add instead of the S and Ws. Anyway it got me thinking about diet these days. I'm not talking about our little group but the general population. When Maria was still around I…

Mike took one look at the weather and decided to stay home. I cooked breakfast sausages, fried onions, homemade gravy, mashed potato and veggies. Very tasty although I say it myself! Had a conversation with Bean. A bit one sided, but we've decided we are staying home as well. I believe Mark and Mary Jo are staying home.…

Looks like a McVitie digestive biscuit to me LIN. I have one each afternoon with my mid afternoon tea. My pet chicken was Monica Mary PATSY. As a chick dad thought her a cockerel and named her Montie after British General Montgomery but she proved him wrong and became Monica Mary. Just got up to snow and oatmeal. Bleary…

When we kept chickens they had an outside run but at night went into a large shed. Dad had to walk down the garden to lock them in each night. Actually the garden was great during the day but became a spooky place at night with trees casting shadows etc. and it didn't help that we had an outside toilet. A normal toilet but…

Hi PATSY. So THATS what happened to my iPad this morning. I was happily checking something out when Siri couldn't connect to the internet. Went into settings and saw two messages from Apple trying to sell me stuff I didn't want. Told them, [sort of], to get lost and decided Michael would sort it all out. However when I…

I too have been wondering about Patsy, but put it down to Damons visit. Thank you Jackie for sending the card. I must get cracking before Michael arrives. I'm hoping he will take me to the bank to withdraw for Christmas gifts. I usually buy something very small like a tin of cookies\chocs etc and stick cash on top these…

I was thinking about those paper chains yesterday. The fun of coordinating colours, but no wet sponge for me JACKIE. Then when done, stringing them from the centre ceiling light fixture across to the walls. AND feeling ever so proud. I also used to make icicles from strips of silver paper. You wound a long thin piece round…

Yes, BARBIE, in the past we never decorated before one week before Christmas and actually, thats what I still do. Then we took everything down on 12th night which was the 5th January. I think that made the Christmas season so much more anticipated and special. Then of course we had Valentines day coming up and when in ones…

I'm with you as well BARBIE! Anne.

The Bean and I woke up to SNOW! After last weeks heatwave its finally caught up with us. The house is cozy though and I'm thinking of all the poor folk in Europe and the UK and counting my blessings. Praying also that the mild weather continues for Jackie and everyone else across the pond. Mikes friends mother after…

SANDY, I loved what you wrote about your childrens father. In a way I can relate. My ex never knew his father and I honestly think he hadn't a clue what a father can be. He told me once that never having known his own father [his mother left with the children when he was three] he tried to model himself on my dad. But my…

PATSY best wishes to you and John. Not an easy time for you two. You mentioned the purchase of a Shark vacuum I believe on the previous page. I can tell you I am delighted with my Shark, recommended by Jackie. It is very efficient and very easy to use. The canister is removable from the main vacuum so its easy to use on…

I've just cooked lunch to warm up in the micro and expect Michael any minute. I echo LIN, JACKIE PLEASE be careful with electrics. Mark rewired this house the other day and I'm still here! LIN, my head swam when I read your account about emails. You are SO clever. SANDY, funerals don't have to be sombre affairs. After my…

As I go for my shower I had to smile at JACKIES comment about the British cutting hedges in the rain. In my day, up in Yorkshire, they HAD to cut hedges in the rain in November because thats all it did in November before global warming. Sorry Jackie, [said tongue in cheek!]. We will be cutting hedges in snow next week [or…

Well PATSY no-one can say you lead a boring life! All sounds good! LIN. Mike turns up once a week and quite often twice. I think Jilly Bean is the attraction - not me! I used to see Mark quite regularly but now its almost a daily thing as he slowly builds up the basement again. The room he's working on used to be a bedroom…

Hello all on a bright and sunny morning with the heating blasting on. I'm still recovering from the shock of living next door to an empty house once more. It seems only yesterday when Maria asked if she could walk with me and the Bean and go to a coffee shop. I would love to live in Marias house with its fireplace just…
-
No. I'm not lost in outer computer space SANDY. Sort of a rather busy day and its a cold one as well. I keep looking at Marias house and its starting to get a desolate empty look now her two sons are not there clearing up the mess left by their dad. Its only 12 years old and is very modern inside and rather beautiful. It…
