How do you get as much exercise when it's 20 below as you do when it's 80 above? And how can enough food for 80-degree weather be enough food when it's 20 below?

My vote is for my two weight loss programs. The first weight loss program is called summer. This is the most wonderful time of the year for losing weight, because it brings a smaller appetite AND more chances to exercise. Maintaining a calorie deficit is so easy. The second weight loss program is called the No Junk Food…

The TV show _The Biggest Loser_ set an example of how NOT to lose weight. Contestants went on crash diets, ran marathons in 100-degree heat, used drugs, and dehydrated themselves. The trainers were so abusive. If I were to wake up and find myself on the premises, I'd be sure to get plenty of exercise by RUNNING AWAY!

I practice intermittent fasting. I don't eat during the hours that I sleep. :)

Only 1200 calories per day? Are you sure that's enough? That sounds like a child's diet to me. Even in the scorching 100-degree heat that gives me a tiny appetite, 1200 calories per day is about 400 calories short.

David, I live in St. Paul, MN. When you go out to eat, how do you avoid the sodium bombs? I've looked at the nutritional information of some restaurants. It's hard to eat a whole meal with under 1000 mg of sodium.

Any advice on the cheaper non-continuous blood glucose monitors? Although I'm not diabetic, I'm thinking of buying one for very occasional spot checks of my blood glucose at certain key times, such as first thing in the morning before breakfast, sometime after a meal (presumably the time of peak blood sugar), and then…

YES! While I think people here on MFP are overly fixated on counting calories, I agree that people who make counting calories part of their routine should own a food scale. If you're going to count calories so consistently, you should at least do an accurate job. Using a food scale would be MUCH easier AND more accurate…

I get the paid streaming services during the colder months of the year. Winter is my season for Netflix, Hulu, Paramount Plus, and HBO Max. I don't spend as much time watching during the other months and rely on my DVD collection, the local library's DVD collection, and the free streaming services (TubiTV, Roku channel,…

Not all calories are created equal. One serving of Post Shredded Wheat 'n Bran cereal has 210 calories. One serving of Post Fruity Pebbles cereal has 140 calories. Can you really say with a straight face that Fruity Pebbles is healthier or more suitable for weight loss? That serving of Post Shredded Wheat 'n Bran has 8…

Fortunately, summer is the most wonderful time of the year for losing weight. This season brings a smaller appetite and more chances to exercise!

If you get enough exercise, eat a good variety of healthy and nutritious foods, and shun the unhealthy foods, your calories, your weight, and your figure will largely take care of themselves.

I know this might be hearsay here on MFP, but you do NOT need to rely on MFP to tell you how much to eat. If you feel hungry or get the munchies, then you probably need to eat something. If you aren't going to bed hungry, then you're probably getting enough to eat. You don't need to count calories unless you're curious.…

The Keto Diet is very polarizing. Everyone sees it as the biggest revelation ever or as snake oil. There's very little middle ground. I'm a vote against the Keto Diet. If carbs were as fattening as the Keto proponents claimed, I'd be on _My 600 Pound Life_. Instead, I'm about the same height and weight as Taylor Swift and…

What's your daily protein target? Maybe it's too high.

If you're hungry, then eat something. If you're not hungry, then don't. In summer, I'm always at a calorie deficit. In winter, I'm always at a calorie surplus. It's no big deal.

Can't you eat tortillas made out of whole grains? (The higher the fiber, the better.) Can't you use more vegetables and beans and less meat and cheese in your tacos?

Donuts are disgusting!

Are there any free food coupons for real food, or are they only available for junk food? In my experience, coupons are almost always for junk foods. It's because the junk food producers have much higher profit margins and thus can afford to give away food. It's sad that there's more money to be made from fake food than…

So what are you supposed to do when you get the munchies? Starve yourself? Go to bed hungry? I don't normally get the munchies at this time of year, because summer heat is the best appetite suppressant. On the other hand, cold weather gives me a large appetite, and bitterly cold weather gives me a gargantuan appetite. I…

Am I the only one who has gone over 2 years without consuming any junk food or restaurant food? Unhealthy foods weaken the immune system and promote inflammation. While I'm all for vaccines, face masks, and physical distancing, these precautions don't go far enough. During the course of this pandemic, nutritional…

I've seen sugar bomb cereals in the cereal aisle with the Weight Watchers brand on them. While I've never contemplated going on Weight Watchers, this was their Jump the Shark Moment for me. Sugar bomb cereals are just candy disguised as breakfast. While the various polarized dietary factions endlessly argue about so many…

Thanks. I have as much regard for the idea of losing weight in deep winter as Ferris Bueller had for school attendance policies. That said, eating only healthy foods and no junk foods does reduce winter weight gain.

Some tips: 1. Watch the movie _Eat Drink Man Woman_. One of the characters is a retired master chef for the Grand Hotel in Taipei. Every time you see the delicious food he cooks, you will become extremely hungry. 2. Procure a time machine and go to the month of January. Bonus points for picking one of the coldest days of…
