  • I did resist the milkshake! I got unsweetened iced tea. I think by preparing myself alday, I was able to resist the lure of the peppermint chocolate chip milkshake. Whew! But I have been bad in a dozen different ways since then. Christmas is a hard time to restrict calories.
  • Stayed on track with eating today. Unpacked some more boxes and culled more stuff to donate. I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. My Christmas shopping is done. Presents are wrapped and under the tree. I am starting to feel like I am sort of in control again. Whew! Cookie baking might Happen tomorrow .…
  • Since I am eating badly diring the holiday season and can’t seem to stop, my new coping strategy is going to be a cut off time. I am going to try not to eat after 6 p.m. if I can cut out nighttime mindless snacking, that should help, right? Visited my sister in another state today for her birthday. We went out for lunch. I…
  • I forgot to weigh this morning. I will try to remember tomorrow. What kind of art do you do in your studio? Smart to buy a ranch before you needed to! I wish we had done that. I am off to pick up my six year old grandson from school. He called me and asked if he could help me shop for his Christmas presents. I thought,…
  • I feel like my legs get so cold on walks while my upper body is toasty warm in a big down coat. RBX put their fleece leggings on sale today, so I ordered the bootcut ones. I have some that are not fleece lined and practically live in them. Hoping fleece lined ones will help me to walk longer. I wont have to come in because…
  • Left my house at 7:30 this morning and got home at 3:30. Christmas shopping. I finished the granddaughter and halfway done on the baby. The six year old called me and asked if he could go shopping with me to pick out his presents. I am Fine with that, so I guess we will go after school one day. A church nearby has a…
  • Christmas snuck up on us this year!
  • Oooh coconut raspberry tarts sound so wonderful!!!
  • Hey Joy, what are you baking that is a family favorite? Do you freeze, or does it keep til Christmas? Melody, prayers for safe travel. I always wonder why riding in the car all day wears you out like you’ve been working. Or is it just me? We have lived in the new place one month now. I am ashamed to still have unpacked…
  • Half pound again. Will make the effort. We moved a month ago. There is still a pile of boxes to unpack in the baement. It is hard to find spaces for all this stuff, so I still make trips to the donation center every other day. I kept too much. Plus, I cant work like I used to. I seem to unpack a few boxes and then i sit…
  • Joy, freezing rain is so deadly. Glad you are well stocked and can ride it out. My husband and I have both Had bad falls on ice. Down a half pound this week. Aiming for another half pound this week. I overate in great restaurants for three days, but skipped desserts and walked a lot. I thought I had gained five pounds.…

  • Randi, our scales are up and down with the craziness of the holidaysDown half a pound. Same goal next week?
  • We are on our winter trip, but just a five hour drive. Traffic was smooth and no snow. Tomorrow we go to the Scottish Christmas Parade, an annual tradition for us. I ate way too much in an excellent restaurant tonight. I tell myself I will walk it off tomorrow . Snow plow drivers are something you never want to run out of.…

  • Russia is scary! I would love to visit Denmark/Sweden/Finland. But why take a chance with the political threat? I used to love to travel, but in the last few years I have come to hate airports and the hassle of flying. I think I will be sticking to road trips from now on.

  • Okay. Tracking calories starting today.
  • I went out to lunch with two friends today. I didnt log calories, but I did try to restrain my gluttonous self😂 Tomorrow I will count every calorie. I am going to make a tamale pie and limit portion size. I do much better if I plan my eating in advance. With 20 degree temps, I crave hot spicy foods.

  • Up a pound and a half from the last time I weighed. I am at my all time high and I am including the time I was hugely pregnant with a ten pound baby. Yikes! Time to declutter my diet!

  • Half pound! Count me in. Guess that means I should weigh in the morning 😂
  • I walked my new neighborhood today. In 28 degrees and pouring snow. Made it 20 minutes. I am ashamed to be so out of shape. I was huffing and puffing over two tiny hills

  • Finally got around to walking my new neighborhood. It was 28 degrees and snowing and I am pitifully out of shape, but I made it 20 minutes. I was out of breath after pulling two little hills. Boy, it doesnt take long for fitness to dissolve if you dont work on it!
  • Joy, can you read on the treadmill? I have seen some with bookholders. I think it would be hard to follow the page while walking, but maybe it isn’t. I havent made cabbage rolls in years. My husband dearly loves them. If I wasnt too lazy to brave the cold weather, I would go get some cabbage and make him a bunch. I also…
  • I confess to buying pumpkin pies at the grocery store. Still overwhelmed with unpacking and decided to do the lazy version of Thanksgiving this year. I hope the kids wont mind. Going to be chilly and rainy tomorrow. It would be really nice to have a treadmill on days like that! The option to fold it up and move it out of…
  • I think there will be big negotiations over these tarriffs like we had during Trumps first presidency. As a student of economics, I understand that he wants to bring America to a state of self sufficiency. I do wish, however, he would start with the most important targets. To me, this would be drugs and medical products.…
  • Randi, my Daddy raised beef cattle. My brother still runs the family farm. I grew up eating hamburgers for breakfast😂. I can get beef for free. However, as my weight keeps nudging the scales in the wrong direction and my blood pressure meds keep increasing, I am seriously contemplating trying a vegetarian lifestyle. I did…
  • Guess this group is down to you and me, Randi. So HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and yours.
  • I can do that Randi. Thanks!
  • One of the reasons we moved to this townhouse was the fact that we are not able to tackle snow removal anymore. We had a very long driveway and shoveled it for years when we were younger. About 10 years ago we got a snowblower, but when we had icy snow, the blower wouldnt throw it. We both had falls over icy snow in the…
  • I dont know whether to weigh tomorrow or skip. I have been bad.
  • Pierogi are so good! I have never tried to make them, but sure do like to eat them! Went to church this morning then picked up chicken and a big salad for lunch on the way home. Temps back up in yhe 50s, so will take a walk in a little while. With moving, i didnt stop to think about Christmas shopping. Then in church this…
