  • Today was horse riding day. Bought my other half with me to jog in front as the horse goes better that way (don't ask me why, guess he just likes runners?!). We had a couple of silly races at different paces, overall really good fun. My hips were quite sore so I went for a walk this afternoon and then did some yin yoga…
  • Just a short yoga workout and walk yesterday as had a crazy day at work and got caught up doing a task that had been weighing on my shoulders. But it's all done now! Today I made it to the gym, did a bit of everything - leg press, abduction/adduction, chest press, various dumbbell exercises, clams w/band, bridge w/weight,…
  • Monday I did free weights and machines in the gym. Tuesday didn't have much time to work out due to work commitments so just did 20 minutes of yoga and got a walk in at lunchtime. This morning I did spin class, my ankle is still giving me a little jip so I made sure to let the instructor know and took it a little easier…
  • You do have to pedal on an e-bike so there's still an exercise benefit to having one. I have spinal arthritis and getting an e-bike helped me start cycling halfway to and from work, something I would struggle with otherwise. It also let's me get out of the car for short journeys as I can use the bike instead, especially as…
  • Nice ride out today with my share horse, strapped up my ankle beforehand so didn't feel it too much. Have ridden with a sprained ankle before so kinda know what to expect. Went through all paces at different points, only issue was navigating a tight gate and whacking my knee on a post :D Last year I had a real loss of…
  • You don't necessarily "have" to alternate days and body parts, if you can only get to the gym 3 days a week, for example, you can do full body each time as you will have recovery time in between. What exercises you can do depends what your goals are, what you enjoy and whether you have any physical issues to work around.
  • Haven't posted for a few days. Wednesday morning was spin class, really struggled but I gave the best that I could give at the time and still felt good afterwards. Thursday was a rest day, then I woke up yesterday morning with a really painful toe (the one next to the big toe). I don't recall injuring it or bashing it but…
  • Yesterday was horse riding day, quick 45 minute ride as weather wasn't quite on our side but used it as an opportunity to focus on position in the seat. My mum always says "but you don't do anything you just sit there!" Funnily enough she's never offered to get on and give it a go to see how "easy" it is! :D Today I did an…
  • Nothing yesterday as I was in a job interview/assessment all day, did get my steps in walking around London though. Boxing class today along with a trip to the dump with a very heavy door! And lots of cooking and cleaning so far just getting odd jobs done. Every little helps. Nothing but wind and rain here this afternoon…
  • Slacking on the posts, but updates from the last few days: Tuesday - pilates class Wednesday - arm and core work at the gym, finished with 20 minutes on the bike Thursday - yoga Not been able to get my steps in as much as I'd like this week because of work, will try to do some extra at the weekend.
  • Saturday - still feeling the aftereffects of my migraine so just went for two 30-40 minute walks. Sunday - finally felt better, went for my usual horse ride for an hour. Didn't go crazy but it was good for my soul :) pony cuddles are always the best. Today - spinning class this evening, didn't push as hard as usual but…
  • Been suffering with severe headaches on and off this week so had to cancel spinning yesterday. The downside of not moving so much with the headaches is that my back starts to get sore, bit of a vicious cycle. Anyway, I made it to the gym today, stuck to leg machines, abductor/adductor machines and chest press. Did up the…
  • Legs and arms in the gym today, getting a bit itchy to mix up my routine but need to give it a think as to what I want to change it to! 30 minute walk as well.
  • Woke up with a back pain flare up today, went to the gym for over an hour to really work through my strengthening exercises along with some upper body stuff. Walked for an hour to and from the shops and also did some yin yoga this afternoon.
  • As a long-term lower back pain sufferer, it really depends on the root cause. I struggled for years to get an accurate diagnosis and as a result often did things that made it worse. If you haven't seen a doctor then that's the first step just to rule out anything more serious. I found The Back Mechanic book really helpful…
  • 40 minute horse ride today, planned an hour but changed route last minute so that I could have a gallop, so did a shorter route overall but had more fun >:)
  • I store my fat around my tummy area too, it's frustrating but there is no easy fix or way to spot reduce. What is (slowly) working for me is full body workouts including core. I'm also increasing cardio through things like boxing and spinning, all of which is helping. I'll never have a 6 pack but can see a little…
  • Wow no exercise for the last three days for me. Wednesday - very long day at work including 4 hours in the car leaving at 7am, just no opportunity for anything unfortunately. Thursday and Friday - spent those days visiting my parents, the most steps I did was 3500! They used to have a dog that I'd take for a couple of…
  • Didn't have too much time today but got the gym to use some of the machines, focused on legs and some trx exercises. Am away for work tomorrow, super long day so am taking a planned rest day.
  • 30 minute home workout this morning focusing on arms and core. 45 minute spin class this evening plus a 40ish minute walk.
  • Not much today, did some ground work with my share horse so lots of walking. Did a few dumbbell exercises when I got home too.
  • Nothing yesterday due to work commitments, spent about 8 hours in my car, horrible way to spend the day in my book! Today was boxing class, but usual instructor wasn't there and didn't enjoy it as much as it was much slower paced. Will get some yin yoga stretching in later.
  • Boxing/HIIT class this evening, don't get to make this class often so am glad when I did. Lots of squats alongside the boxing so a good full body workout.
  • I thought I wanted to lose about 6lbs (vanity) and could only shift the same 2 then regain then lose etc. So I re-evaluated things and thought actually it was more about body composition than the actual weight. The longer I've stuck with the gym the happier I've become with that. My weight still fluctuates around those…
  • Today I did spinning first thing, lots of heavy climbs, am already feeling my legs! Won't be able to make this particular spin class for a month due to work commitments so will have to find another suitable one. I've also done 30 minutes core pilates this evening and have walked for about 45 minutes at lunchtime.
  • Arms/upper body strength is definitely my weak point. I might give this a go (with much lower weights!).
  • Sunday was sadly a write off as I had far too much to drink on Saturday :# made me remember why I don't really drink! Got back in the gym yesterday, mainly upper body push/pull but also got some core work done too. Today is a scheduled rest day because of work schedule but will get a walk in at some point.
  • Had a couple of planned days off due to work commitments, did manage to squeeze in 30 minutes of pilates yesterday. Got back in the gym this morning for a full body workout. Am finally able to push arms a bit more now that my tennis elbow is clearing up but am still conscious not to overdo it. Tomorrow is another rest day…
  • Yesterday's workout was a 5km easy cycle doing some chores around town, a 60 minute walk and 40 minute upper body workout in the gym. The past couple of weeks I've been absolutely starving, especially in the late afternoons/early evenings. I think it's because I've increased my activity level but not compensated within my…
  • Horse riding today. Really muggy morning so I didn't plan to go too far. A charity running race was being set up on the way back and we had to negotiate many scary flags! So the ride just became about some gentle encouragement and not worrying about distance or speed. Also did 30 minutes of yin yoga stretches this evening.
