  • Just to weigh in on the back injury, I have one too so I always incorporate some core exercises e.g. variations of side planks (which can include weights) to help strengthen everything in the trunk/back area. I don't do deadlifts as I know that aggravates my back but I can do squats with relatively light weights. Obviously…
  • Didn't manage to get anything done at the gym yesterday as was working until much later than planned. Didn't get home until late and had to make dinner and do a few chores. Not the end of the world, I did get out for a walk, it's the best I could do! Today I was sat in meetings all day and my steps really took a battering…
  • Yesterday was full body workout at the gym, forget the full routine now but included leg press, seated leg curls, chest press, bicep curls, side planks, bridge, squats... and more! Also went to pilates in the evening. Today I haven't booked anything in as not 100% sure how the work day is going to pan out but am hoping I…
  • Got up early this morning and went for a short horse ride, we're still on the grip of this weird heatwave so I didn't go far but just wanted to get out there.
  • @sampson2010 your father is incredibly inspiring!
  • Gym day yesterday, focused more on arms and core and continuing with my increased weights along with trying some newer exercises like dumbbell flies and seated rows. Tended to avoid things like that when I had tennis elbow but not causing any issues atm. Today I went to boxing class, first time since July I think. Super…
  • Nothing to add re sharks other than we kill millions each year and they're only responsible for a handful of human fatalities :( Had a migraine yesterday so did nothing. Today was a scheduled gym day but decided not to push it too much and did pilates and a morning walk instead. Will get out again at lunchtime. Meant to be…
  • Back in the gym today with a new routine 💪 mainly just increasing weights on existing exercises so kept it slightly shorter than normal to see how I went. I usually do 4 exercises to target legs, 4 for core and 4 for arms. Today I went for 3 of each with the heavier weights to ease myself in. Also 45 minute walk at…
  • Just horse riding and a small walk today. Focused on positioning and posture more than speed today so not much of a workout except stretching out my hips! Back in the gym tomorrow for the first time in a week and a half, looking forward to it but have also switched up my routine with some new exercises and also increasing…
  • Back from my week off, I have spent far too much time travelling in my car the last week and my back is paying the price unfortunately! Today I did a 3 hour yin yoga workshop, turned out to be a really nice way to ease myself back in after a week off. Some intense hip and back stretches which were very much needed.…
  • Thursday morning I did a short pilates workout focusing on core and glutes to try and help my back. Unfortunately had to spend about 4 hours total driving for work throughout the day which wasn't fun, so I made sure I got to the gym after work. Wasn't feeling legs so focused on arms and core. Friday morning I did another…
  • Definitely still feeling my back flareup, best guess is the next month or so is going to be like this (rolls eyes) so I may adjust my plans and workouts with more focus on pilates for a couple of weeks and less focus on spin class and weights. That method helped in my last flareup so let's see if it helps now (I have SI…
  • Woke with pretty bad back pain this morning so did a pilates routine followed by some yin yoga. Cycled halfway to work and by the time I got there it felt much better. There's a nasty dual carriageway on my route which is why I don't cycle the whole way as had a near miss there once before, so I get the train past that bit…
  • Day off work today, I researched a walk in my local area and decided to give it a go, the website said 7k distance and that it would take about 2 hours due to gradient, but I did it in 90 minutes and didn't find it bad at all. My hips and back have been sore for a week or so, so that's all I did today, but enjoyed it and…
  • Weekly horse ride this morning, nothing crazy to write home about, 4k in 45 mins but I swear it's like therapy for me! 45 minute walk in the afternoon too.
  • Didn't plan a workout today as I was on call and fully expected to have to go in, but turned out to be very quiet! I just repeated yesterday's full body workout with a couple of extra bits as couldn't really be bothered to think up anything different!
  • Finally got back in the gym today! Actually felt better yesterday and had a swim booked but got held up at work so couldn't go. Full body workout this morning, main focus was varying squats and arm work but incorporated a few other bits too. Then this evening I went back for a 30 minute cycle. Nothing too crazy but got the…
  • Well I've done a big fat nothing the past two days! Yesterday was planned rest day, and then I got this weird migraine with stomach pain that keeps plaguing me overnight so today has been a write off too - did have gym planned first thing and pilates this evening. Doctor thinks I may have some kind of bacterial infection…
  • Full body workout at the gym today. Was going to go spinning this evening too but my back is a bit iffy so I thought I wouldn't push it and went for an hour's walk instead.
  • Nothing yesterday as I was on call and got called in to deal with something which took much longer than necessary but hey ho. Had to prioritise starting to paint my front door so workout took a back seat. Today up early and out for my customary Sunday horse ride. 5k in little under an hour which is pretty much the pace we…
  • Watched a news video about these recently (can't recall where but was uk based) and people were able to get hold of them in nutrition shops and the salespeople were telling the undercover reporter that they were completely safe. I don't have an issue with people making informed choices on things like this but when someone…
  • So I wrote a long post with all of today's gym exercises and then lost it - twice! - so am not writing it out a third time :D but full body session in the gym plus an hours walk.
  • I used to hate cardio but feel like it's got its place now for me, I really enjoy spin class and a boxercise class. I think it was just about finding cardio that I enjoyed rather than trying to run even though I hated it! Edit - I do also like weightlifting and strength training overall too!
  • Was quite sore and achey last night, luckily today is much less low-key. Did an hour's walk this morning into town and back to do some chores and am just about to go swimming with a friend. Usually just do 20 lengths of a 25 metre pool, I don't time my swims with my friend as we usually stop for a natter at some point but…
  • 45 minute spin class this morning 40 minute walk at lunchtime 45 minute pilates class coming up in about 20 minutes!
  • My spinal condition has flared up a bit overnight so I kept my workout short this morning, just 30 mins with a resistance band at home. I have a little go-to full body workout that I did. I had a day off work today so took myself up to Central London as it's not far from home, did a little sightseeing and got all my steps…
  • @nossmf it is what it is, I know what you mean about being a creature of habit, I hate any unexpected changes especially when they interfere with the things that keep me sane! But at least you know this is short term and you should be back to normal in a couple of months!

  • Yoga with Adrienne is great, I also have the Down Dog app, you do have to pay but it's cheaper than classes :D I like it as you can customise your practice both in terms of what type of yoga, length of session, areas of the body to focus on, difficulty etc.
  • Another vote for the e-bike here! Definitely agree with the weight thing, the first one I bought was a full size mountain bike and it weighed upwards of 25kg. I have to keep my bikes in a basement so getting it upstairs was not fun! I sold it and got a commuter-style one that weighs about 15kg. Much easier to manoeuvre. I…
