  • I tried something. In MFP, I added an equivalent walking exercise for that day and deleted the one with the dog reference. With any luck, maybe the next walking import from the iPhone will sync with the more recently used exercise type.
  • The day started, as usual, with 15 minutes or so on an elliptical trainer watching the news on TV. Finally back at it this evening for another restart. 2.4 km on a 200m indoor running track. I tried something different as I walked the 50m end curves and ran the 50m straights, almost sprinting really. It felt good and the…
  • Unless you're already a good swimmer, look into some kind of lessons or coaching. Swimming is far more about technique than fitness and that's usually much better assessed by someone else. You don't really realize what you might be doing better where an experienced eye will see it. Fitness helps but it's better to ingrain…
  • Dragon boat festival! Arrived at about 7am and left about 8pm. Our team qualified today for the A division semifinals tomorrow. Then at the end of the racing I went to watch a dragon boat tug-o-war contest. Two teams of six paddlers sit at opposite ends of a boat facing each other and try to push the other team back past a…
  • Keeping up with a short at home elliptical workout first thing in the morning, and again occasionally through the day. Anything more ambitious has fallen to the wayside the past few days due to a nasty head cold. I think it may be finally easing up this morning. (fingers crossed for luck) It's very unusual for me to get…
  • I prefer creamy. I have a bag of bulk roasted, unsalted peanuts in the pantry if I want the crunch. Usually on whole wheat bread, sometimes with jam, marmalade, or honey. I occasionally spread it on toast, fresh out of the toaster so the peanut butter melts in. Rarely I might have a scoop from the jar with a knife or spoon.
  • I've been going to a local facility the past few days, either swimming or running on the indoor track on alternate days. I could barely manage a slow couple of km on the track today. There was a time when I'd have hardly considered that a decent warmup, but I'm obviously not that guy anymore. Gotta start from where I'm at…
  • If walking is ok, you might also consider an elliptical trainer. Years ago we got one for my late wife but now I have it in the corner where I can watch the tv news, etc. It doesn't have to be a hard workout, just roll along on it and you're moving your whole body. We got a fairly good one with a long forward and backward…
  • A half hour elliptical warm up and 15 minutes core exercise circuits this morning. Got to the pool for about a half hour of swimming this evening. Just easy though as I'm trying to get back into it. Dragon boat paddling was canceled last night. The wind and light rain might have been ok but there was a tornado warning for…
  • I'd never heard the term stomach vacuum before so I searched the forum here. It looks like it's basically just sucking in the stomach and holding it for a bit. LOL, I've done that from time to time since childhood though it has been more rare in recent years as I gained weight. Thanks for the reminder! The pelvic tilt some…
  • @Djproulx Great effort. I used to do some tris and running on sand, or trying to, can be brutal. I'm also very familiar with pushing on the bike and paying for it on the run! Way to hang in there! It's been a few too many years since my last tri though. You are inspiring!! This morning I warmed up on an elliptical for 15,…
  • Found it. Thanks @cmriverside ! I wasn't timing myself but estimated 15 minutes. I also entered it as light/moderate calisthenics. In my exercise log, I added this note about what was done: Core work circuits, entered as calisthenics. 2x (50 bicycles, 3x 10 crunches, 1 minute plank, 3x 10 glute bridge marching) Do you…
  • New to MFP, and to fussing over my weight in general, but I qualify for this thread and weight is becoming an issue. The landscape pic is awesome and the bike with baskets is cute too. I've only read back a few pages so far but dragon boating was mentioned and I've done that for about 10 years. All of you are so inspiring!…
  • Only about 240 knots in a Cessna 172, depending on winds.
