Don't beat yourself up. As you said that 4 pounds you gained overnight is water weight and you can lose it quickly by going back to your usual, healthy eating. Just be mindful and don't let one incident of overeating turn into a week or more. No one is twisting your arm to have waffles and whipped cream. You have a choice.…

Genetics will determine where your fat will leave your body while you're in a calorie deficit. I can relate to you, the fat on my thighs is stubborn as well and historically have only leaned out when I was a very low body weight/body fat (seventeen percent and 110 pounds). There is no way to "spot reduce."

I'm calling this a NSV: yesterday there was a small going-away party at work for a co-worker that is leaving that included 5 boxes of pastries and I didn't have one, not even a bite!

Thanks Ann, I agree with you 100 percent. Re: sustainability, I've been incorporating more variety in my diet and 100 or so treat calories daily. I like that. Last night I had 7 peanut M&Ms and I consider it a victory that I didn't feel guilty or feel like polishing off the whole bag. I'm going check out the NSV thread…

I'm originally from the New York Metro area (Queens and Long Island), Jewish. When I was very little Mom used to serve me pastina with marinera sauce, which is teeny tina pasta stars. Don't see it out here in Los Angeles so I can't recreate that particular type of nursery school comfort food. More on the Jewish side of…

Gardenqueen, fluctuations on the scale are completely normal. You may lose a bit too, then stall for a short while, then start losing again. Start graphing your weight, I think you'll see an overall downward trend over time if you stay consistent with your calorie deficit.

I concur about the ice cream thing. I find it difficult to portion out ice cream. One spoonful isn't satisfying to me. One thing I think I can do is go to my local gelato shop and get the "kiddie" size cup, which is quite small, much smaller than the adult small. It's been hotter than hell here in L.A. and I've been…

Sometimes I find myself in situations where I'm going to go for hours without "real food". Like recently, I had four back-to-back clients in the middle of the day (11:00 AM to 3 PM). A Bareball bar kept me from crashing. I don't eat protein bars regularly, but I like to keep a couple on hand.

Excellent mmatcha_latte, congratulations!

Yum! My favorite fruit! Creamy peanut butter and banana (slice a banana in half lengthwise, fill with PB)

I agree. KIND bars are too sugar-y. When I have one, I want to eat three. My favorite protein bars are Barebells, they have a pretty good balance of protein (20gs) carbs and fat. 200 calories. I eat them when I have a craving for a candy bar,
