  • Nugo coconut chocolate bars don't work for me. They are made with cane sugar and in my mind are glorified candy bars, despite the protein. They send me into a sugar feeding frenzy. I prefer RX bars. Their sweetness comes from dates so not much "rush". My favorite is the chocolate peanut butter but the chocolate sea salt is…
  • I don't know if you are in the US, but in the States the government mandates 2 15-minute breaks. I use those for brisk outdoor walking. In addition, I eat my lunch at my desk and use my half hour lunch break for additional walking. Helps a lot for my mood and fitness and keeps those stiff hip joints at bay.
  • You control what goes in your mouth. You don't have to eat food simply because it's there. I just got through with an office potluck today. Surrounded by sweets/high calorie treats; I ate one chicken and one pork kebab and a boatload of raw veggies (no dip) and left very satisfied. The protein and fiber kept me from…
  • She could get leaner if she wants to look like a fitness competitor, six pack and all. But I don't recommend it. Those competitors never stay at that degree of leanness year-round, and she shouldn't try. She risks messing with your hormones, skin, hair falling out. She has a terrific year-round level of leanness and as I…
  • Excellent! I have a potluck and team lunch scheduled for this week, I hope I am as successful as you!
  • Just my two cents.....I'm sure the more experienced lifters will chime in, but I wouldn't lose any weight at this stage, you look quite fit and lean in your photo, can even see traces of abs in your midsection. I would focus on strength training/adding muscle to what you already have. Glad to see that you don't overdo the…
  • Welcome to the group! We are a friendly bunch, and I think you will like it here. I am very familiar with yo-yoing myself. I've done it my entire adult life, but this time around I'm determined to lose and maintain. I think you will find posting here fun and motivating.
  • Thursday, I went over the edge a bit. Came home from work and hubs had made spaghetti and meatballs and Texas garlic toast. A carb heavy meal, the kind of which I never eat. Of course, I had to have it all, and even topped it off with a slice of my homemade pumpkin pie, still in the fridge from Thanksgiving. My portions…
  • Hi rorymason! I woke up at 3 am too, left hip hurting. Need to do more stretching exercises and probably some banded workouts for hip strength. When will I learn? Kudos for you for making healthier choices, keeping a food diary, and losing weight. The other habits will come. Start out small, like 8 ounces of water and a…
  • Yuck, yuck, yuck! Spam
  • This is skin not joints (but I still consider it inflammation); my skin cleared up and glowed up after radically reducing sugar and carbs from my diet. I used to eat refined carbs and lots of sugar every day (when I was 200 pounds) now my eating habits have changed, and I feel a lot better for it.
  • Thank you xbow and Ann, for the compliments and the support! <3
  • Weigh-in this morning! Drum roll please.......178! One and a half pounds down. A little fast, but I'll continue to keep an eye on the scale to make sure I consistently don't go beyond a pound a week. If I lose a pound a week, I'll be 175 by Xmas day! NSV, although I still have squeezable fat in the back, my side "back…
  • Weigh-in day today! Drum roll please..........178! One and a half pounds down. A little fast, but I'll keep my eye on the scale to make sure I consistently don't go beyond one pound a week. If I lose a pound a week, I'll be 175 by Xmas day!
  • Yum! My guess is that you are from the UK because they love custard on their pies and tarts. Never had apple pie but I had strawberry tart with custard (visit to UK), so I imagine apple would be yum. Mince pie
  • I went to see my doctor yesterday and I proudly told him that I lost 20 pounds. He took my blood pressure and listened to my heart and said my stats have come down since 200. He asked me how much I weigh now and what is my goal weight, and he said "Good job! Keep going!" I would have preferred if he stopped at "Good job".…
  • The biggest challenge for me is energy. I've been putting off workouts (bad, I know) because I get up very early in the morning (4:30 AM) and also take meds that tend to make me feel sleepy. My energy starts to wane particularly in the afternoon and by the time I get off from work it's an uphill climb. I think I really…
  • Hi all! Thought I'd pop in, although my weigh-in day is not for 3 days. I am trying to achieve a 5-pound weight loss this month. That will bring me to 175, the lowest I've been since 2023. This time, however, I'm going to keep on going and not yo-yo, in spite of the holiday season. December is the toughest month…
  • Congratulations! That is monumental success! Big kudos to you! I find weight loss during the holiday season amounts to sticking to one's usual fitness routine and making wise choices.
  • This happened to me, truth. I went from 179 to 112 in 6 months' time and got a series of gall bladder attacks, the last of which caused me to end up in the ER (I did not know what these symptoms were all about). The doctor in the ER said my gall bladder was "riddled with gallstones, like buckshot." She said it was unusual…
  • I love the successes and goals here, Congratulations! I've worked with a PT in the past. It's a great investment. Even if you can't afford it long term it's a great way to kick start a new phase of progress.
  • Thanks for the compliments, nebslp! It does feel like work, but well worth it. I agree with you, the belly and butt will come down eventually, I just need to be patient.
  • Thanks Ann! Meet me here on New Year's Day! I'm determined to be 175! Incidentally, that was my "low" last year before I yo-yo 'd right back to 200. Reaching 175 will be a big accomplishment for me, but even bigger, busting past that. I can't remember the last time I was below 175. 2025 is going to be awesome.
  • An update, I'm now 179.5 now. My weight stalled for a while, but I was binging intermittently so while I didn't gain, it prevented any downward trend. I've been very consistent, even though I haven't lost any more inches except under the bust (!). I have a feeling that I'm losing off the "natural" waist (which I haven't…
  • WOO-HOO! Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Don't know if there is going to be anybody around to celebrate with me, but I've hit 179.5! 20.5 pounds down since starting my weight loss journey! I'm right on track to reach 175 by New Year's Day, and I know I can do it! Consistency has paid off! For some odd reason the only place I…
  • Gorun, I agree with you. If I said to myself that I will NEVER EVER eat sweets again, it would be an impossible task. I budget for it. For example, my husband (who is thin/lean as a rail) made a chocolate cake yesterday with vanilla frosting. I had two SMALL forkfuls. It was delicious, but I had no intention of eating the…
  • The month of December is so tough. I have several celebrations and potlucks (all work-related) on my schedule. I plan on baking cookies, but you better believe that they are not going to hang around the house. I am a sucker for home-baked cookies. For Thanksgiving I'm going to make an apple pie, probably the best pie I…
  • Somebody at my work put a slice of Tres Leches cake on my desk while I was away. I had two *small* forkfuls and threw the rest immediately in the trash! It was SO delicious, but I knew I didn't need the whole thing so I'm proud that I resisted temptation. The month of December is going to be so tough, food-wise!
  • I weighed myself this morning (didn't have time for my usual Wen. weekly morning AM weigh-in yesterday). I'm down to 181! On track to weigh in at 175 at New Year's Day. I'm gonna make it!
  • I officially "retired" my 1X cotton jersey shirts and am pulling the XLs out of the recesses of the closet! The 1Xs are going to the thrift store. Many of the XLs are dusty from disuse but fit fine. I'm not looking back!
