Releasing 2 young starlings from their temporary chimney prison back in to the wild.

Woken up around 5am by dog going nuts. Now waiting for pest control guy to come remove whatever is stuck in my chimney. Says most likely bat or bird. Sounds more like bear or mountain lion to me. Maybe Drogon.

Found 2 of the 3 birdhouses I put together this winter are now occupied. Got to spend day getting garden together. Lots of mulch. Interested to see if the soapwort grows . Seems like I've been planning this for 30 years.

Put out potatoes and dug in 6 peonies. Interwebs say deer don't like them. Think I reached my digging quota for the month. Hanging up shovel till May.

Trip to Antietam battlefield. Daughter wanted to see where her Great X5 Grandfather fought. We found memorial to his regiment but also this one. Tiny. Dedicated to Clara Barton who was here and later founded red cross. Easy to miss amongst all the plinths, guys on horses and engraved plaques.
