It's just a dress but it was my sister's dress. For years, I used to borrow her clothes when I had a need. Then I gained weight and she got sick and lost weight. After a long struggle she died last March. My heart is broken and I miss her. I have this dress hanging in my closet. Someday I'd like to wear it and wrap myself up in her sense of style.

  • @pezhed - I, too, keep slices of 100 g grilled chicken each day at hand to make my goals. Maybe I'll add a TBSP of whey protein or chia seeds to oatmeal or whatever for a 5 g bump. I'm aiming for 80 to 100 protein grams max. I also try to get a good portion of that from plant based protein - striving for 50%/50%. Hitting…
  • @sheilaboneham - sorry to hear about your digestive issues. So frustrating and hard to pin down. Anything in a pill form should be the first suspect. It would be so easy if all you had to do was eat more pepitas and less magnesium pills. I went down the FODMAP elimination diet rabbit hole and found no smoking gun there,…
  • @refactored - Apple crumble with the kids on a fall day is a wise use of your reserve calories, IMO!

  • These are some old posts but still VERY interesting! I, too, have wondered why the macros didn't add up and about the sequestered alcohol calories. Thank you @The_Enginerd and @tolkienlady.
  • My regular: coffee, steel-cut oats sweetened with a mixture of dried plums, dates, and figs, topped with blueberries and walnuts. It delicious! Lately I've been adding tablespoon of whey powder to get my protein numbers up.
  • I like the "ingredient household" comment. With ingredients you can choose to make whatever you want, both healthy and decadent. You can recreate a calorie laden recipe into a lighter version, lower the sodium, or increase the fiber. Ingredients are a secret power!
  • Since I started logging and focusing on a clean eating, plant forward menu with limited fats and meats, I noticed my digestion is consistently sooo much better! I’ve had some minor IBS issues for years and had my sludgy gall bladder removed a few years back, hoping that would help, but no. I think this is the answer!
  • I agree. Consistency = habits! I'm working on my eating habits: healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner, planned healthy snacks. I'm working on a standard answer of "no, thank you" to the many kind offers involving eating-opportunities. Trickier than is sounds. - Would you like a donut? No, thank you. - easy. - Would you like to…

  • Suerte, Alice! Swapping alcohol for booze sounds like the start of the great upward spiral. Best decision ever. Colorado is one of the healthiest states so opting for healthy lifestyle will fit right in. I hope your life partner will be supportive. Wishing only the best for you.

  • Same question here. I don't see a "join" button. Maybe just leave a comment?
  • Not all the food items list potassium units, and then it may not be correct. Hunt for the listing that gives the correct amount. If you really want to know, learn which foods are high in potassium and keep a side tab running until you get the hang of it. Beware of potassium supplements! Too much and your efforts at good…
