I joined toward the end of August so this will be my first full month. I am happy to take a couple of days, ideally not Tuesday or Thursday.

No, not at all. Depending on the size of egg it would likely be 6-7 grams. Keep in mind many of the entries are user entered and some users don't bother with macros like protein. Look for one with a verified checkmark and check that it has protein.

Excellent!

How does that compare to previous? How do you feel about it?

Yes, assuming everything syncs and is up to date, this is how it works. MFP has an estimate of what you might burn in a day based on your stats, the activity level you chose (sedentary, lightly active, etc), and any workouts you log. When you sync MFP to a device like Fitbit or Apple Watch, MFP compares its estimate with…

Just here to echo what others have said. At a 100 calorie daily deficit it may take a few months to notice a scale weight loss consistently. Day to day fluctuations can mask up to a few pounds of fat loss for a while. There are so many things that can cause a tiny scale increase that have nothing to do with fat gain —…

From what I've heard from multiple medical professionals, you can't really cure or reverse diabetes, even though some people use that language. Many people can manage their glucose levels and see nondiabetic lab numbers as a result of some combination of diet, exercise, weight loss, stress management, or medication. I've…

What happens during a foot check? I've never had one, I saw it mentioned in the diabetes class book. I guess I need to ask my doctor about it. I don't know about the kidneys thing, it sounds concerning! I hope you get answers soon.

It's a challenge for me. In my work, I write about food and beverages and do some other food-related marketing. So "food noise" or thoughts are kind of unavoidable. I am pretty motivated by projects and deadlines so I make it a project. Of course, we know the real work in managing diabetes is in the day-to-day details, not…

@neanderthin I don't know much about how glp-1 like Ozempic work for Type 1 diabetes, but in other forums I've heard of people with Type 1 getting it prescribed to help with insulin sensitivity. I've heard it might be because of how the glp-1 slows digestion and maybe because it also decreases glucose production. They and…

In the past I tried 24 hour fasts one or sometimes two days a week. I ate a normal dinner then didn't eat again until dinner the next day. I did drink one cup of black coffee in the morning and drank plenty of water. I tried it for a couple of months because I read about the benefits of intermittent fasting. I was also…

I am pretty active, but for some reason, I struggle to be consistent with strength training even though I am a big believer in its benefits. I have 'cardio" activities I enjoy as hobbies, but weight lifting feels more like a self-maintenance "chore". to me. I do notice benefits every time I've been able to stick to a…

@rms62003 I don't use a Garmin but I have my Apple Watch connected to MFP. What MFP is doing is comparing its estimate of your calorie burn for the day (based on your stats, stated activity level, and any logged exercise) to your Garmin's estimate of your total burn. So a -54 indicates your Garmin TDEE for the day is a…

Yes, you can enter meal carbs on MySugr. I have an iPhone so it may be different on another type of phone. Press the + button like you are manually adding a glucose reading, enter the carbs instead (or medication, or exercise, or a note). I manually log glucose through Apple Health and have My Sugr integrated so it…

What an amazing improvement in A1C! That's good to know about the home tests, I do best with a little accountability and must admit sometimes when I am tempted to indulge or not exercise I think about my next scheduled labs. Since I am on a 3 month schedule with A1C, it keeps me focused but my schedule may change since my…

Congrats on your hard work @patriciafoley1! It is indeed hard to consistently manage blood sugar. I was curious about the home A1C since I've never used one. I am currently on a 3-month testing schedule, so I haven't bothered, but it sounds like if my A1C stays low, I might go to six months. For the most part mine is fine…

I use MySugr mainly because I have an iPhone and Apple Watch and it is one of the apps that sync with Apple Health. I like that it pulls together my weight, blood pressure, glucose, and exercise from Apple Health. It has an option to link to a few glucose monitors that automatically log, but my insurance doesn't cover…

What a milestone! Of course, managing diabetes is an ongoing process. I had a positive milestone myself. I just had my bloodwork labs done. My A1C was 5.3 (in Oct when I was diagnosed it was 7.5, when retested in January it was 6.2). My goal was to get it below 6. I didn't know whether that was a realistic goal and I was…

I hope you don't let concern about other people's judgement get in the way of you living your best life and taking care of yourself. I wish I learned this when I was in my teens and early 20s. If people are going to judge, they will find something to judge regardless. Often, it comes from a place of insecurity. That, and…

Yay! Well done. Was that a fasted reading?

I seem to recall (sorry if I have you confused with someone else) that you live in a rural area. Are you able to see a diabetes educator or dietitian virtually? Have you seen an endocrinologist? (I haven't had access to one yet, but I understand some people with diabetes do). I am impressed and inspired by your focus and…

Wow @karrendamcpike I am curious to see how it goes. I just looked it up, my main concern (for me) is that is seems a little rigid like following a structured diet with no cheating. I guess it depends how strict the diet it, but what happens if there is a birthday part or celebration? I find challenges can be helpful, but…

Thanks @pamelaory for sharing. I am also on a glp-1 for diabetes (ozempic in my case), weight loss is a beneficial side effect for me. I am not sure how much of my glucose improvement and weight loss is directly from the Ozempic. I started it the day my doctor broke the diagnosis to me. In my case, I was traveling and out…

I would love to hear more if anyone ends up trying one. I, too, am tired of finger sticks. I've read they aren't accurate enough yet as 2t9nty mentioned.

I am on a different glp-1 not Terizepatide. I have similar calorie allowance and protein goals. I currently aim for 30 grams of fiber, but I was initially aiming for 25 grams. I find I have less digestive issues if I make sure to drink enough water. I also eat 1-2 probiotic foods daily and take a digestive enzyme (beano)…

I am glad you are seeing progress! I was told it can zig and zag it isn't linear for a lot of folks. There are just so many things that affect blood sugar and weight. It sounds like you are doing a lot of positive things. I use AI tools sometimes for health/diet stuff and for work, but be careful. I've seen AI give untrue…

My understanding is just about any kind of stress can temporarily increase glucose due to the stress hormones signaling to the liver to release glucose so it's available for fight or flight. It can go up from lack of sleep, illness, infection, stress, exercise, hormone fluctuations, etc. My fasted is variable, this week it…

I've been having issues with MFP's search, too. Sometimes, it will return no result, then I press enter, and it has a result. Sometimes, I have to take the brand name out only to scroll and find an entry that matches what I searched. Searches that used to work aren't consistently working for me either. It may be because I…

@patriciafoley1 - That sounds frustrating especially since you've been working so hard. If you take your blood glucose 30 minutes-an hour after walking your dog, is it still high? When I asked about post-exercise highs, I was advised to take it a little later to give the body a chance to go back to normal. I definitely see…

I would also take a few carbs over scurvy! Though I just don't do well on super low carb diets, I tried it a few times when I was in the healthy glucose and labs range to lose vanity pounds and I get weird crashes (shakey, dizzy, clumsy, irritable, etc). What about bell peppers or tomatoes?
