I don't eat grains, but thanks for the suggestion :P I do, however, make my own jerky. DELICIOUS

I have an alarm clock that is a sunrise simulator. I definitely is nice to slowly wake up to light rather than have your alarm screaming at you BEEEEE BEEEEEEE BEEEEEEEE BEEEEEE BEEEEEE BEEEEE BEEEEEE. I used to just smash the off button and go back to sleep........which mean sleeping in a lot. I never sleep in anymore. I…

Had a quick look through your diary for the past week or so. I see a lot of junk food in there... It's definitely hard to say no to that kind of stuff when it's always around in your home....so the easier thing to do is just stop buying it. Fill up the fridge/freezer/cupboards with good foods! Carrot sticks, cucumber…

Good luck to everyone trying out a new lifestyle! I wish you all the best and hope you guys see some pretty dramatic results both physically and physiologically. ........remember.......you get out of it what you put in. Next time you go for the oreos.....or for the mashed potatoes.....or that bag of fuzzy peaches, just…

What actually kicked my *kitten* and got my started on my fitness journey was Tumblr And now I'm totally hooked! it's just a crazy blog/re-blog site that i can spend hours on. Hop on there.......make and account.....and search for tags like "fitspo" "fitness" "inspiration" etc.......then you'll just get lost in a wormhole…

I meant all of the negativity towards low-carb/atkins/primal lifestyles rather than the "traditional" diet. Your lack of attention to spelling and grammar is minor......so I think I'll keep my computer opened :)

Low carb is the devil!!!!!! 100% carbs!!!! ^^^ sarcasm I seriously can't believe the amount of negativity and bull**** on on this site. It makes me angry.

Steak with grilled veggies and a salad on the side without dressing. Done and done.

If you're on a diabetic diet......you might also be on a low-carb diet to help control your insulin. So you may want to go in and re-adjust your calorie goals anyway. I'm not diabetic or even pre-diabetic, but I chose to do low carb/no grains/no legumes just to give it a shot.........LOVE it
-
Keep in mind that if you have changed your goals at all.....it may shift them back to the defaults after you recalculate. It did this to me and I had to go back and change them all back. This may be fixed by now though Congrats on your success so far!

I am on a very low carb primal eating plan........so I do things a little different than most, but to me protein is my most important element of my diet. So I changed my goals on this site to reflect how much protein I should be eating based on 1g/lb lean muscle mass and then adjusted my fats and carbs to make up the rest…

Your goals are your goals. You should strive to hit each of them to have a balanced diet and a broad range of energy, vitamins, and minerals your body needs to function in a day. If you're under be 5% it's not going to be the end of the world.......if you're under by 50% you may want to re-evaluate your meals and see what…

Many many posts on this already ......but here goes again. Of all of the things to go over on in a day......protein is probably the best one. Protein is not only used for energy for your body but it is also broken down into amino acids which help your body to build and repair itself. Frankly I think the "out of the box"…

lol. Entertaining thread. Good idea :)

Relax.... .......this was supposed to be a fun post. Not an "OMG I CAN'T STOP BINGE EATING" shout out for help

Frozen blueberries. Yummy They're like mini popsicles

This thread makes me LOL So much mis-information that is spreading like wildfire.

If you're using Ketostix they won't really be all that effective after your body begins using the ketones for energy rather than spilling them out into your urine. Some people may take longer than others to adapt, but if you feel your energy coming up and your hunger subsiding, those are much better signs. Listen to your…

Butter >> Margarine

Give it a week or two for your body to adjust to running on fats (ketones) and then you'll be all good :)

It's not for everyone. I told my buddy I would give it a go for 8 weeks and see what I think. I'm hooked. And while I do plan to continue this lifestyle for the foreseeable future, I will relax a little on how strict I am once I reach my fitness and weight-loss goals. I'll live an 80/20 lifestyle.

I still eat a decent amount of nuts for fat and protein sources. I have almonds or pecans nearly every day

Centuries is not long enough for an organism to adapt to something like a new food source like grains. Especially not to have it as 55 to 60% of your source of energy. The mostly likely cause for this obesity epidemic (according to most health "experts") is high carb/high sugar, high sodium diets and less activity. I've…

Figured I'd give this a bump so others can find it more easily

Try it with a little bit of Stevia mixed in. It cuts out the tart taste

Too much sugar/carbs in your diet. Your body needs to release insulin to deal with the higher blood glucose in order to convert it to glycogen. Insulin is also the chemical message your body uses when it's in "storage mode" I think if you reduce your carbs and try and minimize your sugar and processed foods you will see…

I never had the low-carb flu either, and I quit carbs cold turkey. I did notice that I was a little hungry for 2 days though while my body was getting used to no carbs and started switching over to using fat.......but that's about it.

I watched a VERY technical presentation from Dr. Robert Lustig last night on the dangers of fructose and how it affects your insulin and leptin sensitivity. It was very informative.......but most of it was over my head. Anyway......here is a good interview that is MUCH less technical and easier to follow talking about the…
