I did quite a bit of research using rats brains at university*. Never had the urge to put them in my mouth though. * We reused old slides and samples rather than kill lots more innocent rats before anyone gets upset with me!

I have to disagree with you on roadkill as that's a very sweeping statement. It all depends on how fresh it is. If it's fresh, it's fine (think of all that free protein - got to be careful in these tough economic times).

Ooooh, I like these! Bowls is a great idea.

My thoughts, based on what works for my mum, would be pedometers and free gym passes. Pedometers are cheap and easy to use for senior citizens. My mum could climb mountains until her arthritis progressed. Now, whenever she's on the phone I get chapter and verse on how many steps she's walked each day. She struggles with…

I agree. Few trainers have proper knowledge of nutrition and their advice is not always the best. If you are working out you need to make sure you have energy and fuel, which at 1700 calories a day you may struggle with. As for sugar, unless you have a medical condition where you have to watch your sugar then I wouldn't…

Thanks for this. I'm sure I could get a cheap one on eBay but I very rarely do exercise DVDs now. I did find the Jillian DVDs were good for getting me started a couple of years ago and I've now taken up running and weight training, which I love (highly recommend C25k for anyone who wants to try running). I occasionally…

I am. Unfortunately no one has yet come up with a crack code for my DVDR :(

Is Chalean available in the UK? I've not had any success in finding it (the Beachbody website says it is Region 1 so doesn't tend to be sold to the UK market).

Option 1. I've got that one and it has good variety between cardio and strength.

This advice above is spot on. And do make sure you discuss this with your doctor to make sure you are doing what you need to do. "High cholesterol" is a very broad term and can range from slightly raised to dangerously high - some of which can be helped simply through exercise and diet, some which needs medication. As for…

Yes, preventer inhalers (which doesn't include Albuterol) do contain corticosteroids, as I said earlier. But, as I also said earlier, the doses are small, little is absorbed into the blood stream and because of this have not been shown to increase weight. If anyone has any concerns about their medication they really should…

Well you were misinformed then. Albuterol is a bronchodilator, not a steroid. And, again, asthma inhalers that do contain steroids contain very small doses directly to the lungs that are barely absorbed by the bloodstream and do not cause weight gain.

Unless you have a medical reason to not eat too much sugar then don't worry about it. I got rid of it on my macros (it's still counted in my carbs so I get a feel for it without worrying about it) and added fibre and sodium to my intake stats. Make sure you get enough protein and fats and fill out the rest with carbs. Keep…

:flowerforyou: Breathing is kind of important! An asthma attack is incredibly distressing but I've found exercise has helped me massively (particularly intense cardio such as running and climbing). But I still always need to have my inhaler with me.
-
Not true. It is a very small dose directly to the lungs and there is little evidence of weight gain as a result. Are you confusing it with steroid tablets? If so, please don't post info that is factually incorrect unless you know for certain it is true.

A few things... * Speak to your doctor - don't take advice on a forum! Yes, we have experience (I have asthma and use two different inhalers as well as other medication) but it should not be a substitute for seeing a clinician. Your case is individual and we cannot give you medical advice. * Albuterol will not cause weight…

:flowerforyou: QFT. The moment we get hung up on food to the extent that we can't enjoy celebrations like Easter and Christmas is the moment the battle lines are drawn ;) I like food and it's not the enemy. Once you get your head into that mindset cravings and overeating end. Having said that, I'm going to have a longer…

QFT. OP: do you have any links to the research you have seen please? I'd be interested to see them.
