Really interesting article - thanks for that. Explains why I get explosive wind every time I try Slimfast! Yes, I've tried it (three times now - last time just before I joined MFP). Every time I got wind, bloating and other bowels problems I won't go into! If I lost weight while doing it then I could have put up with that…

Agreed. Even without lifting, if you carry on eating over TDEE you will put weight on.

Hope it clears up soon. Such a shame when you should be enjoying your new tattoo. Hopefully the antibiotics will do the job. Take care.

Lol. It's part of our staple diet in NW England. No breakfast is complete without it and it's also great crumbled into mashed potato or added to pies.

Oisin carpaccio - raw slices of baby deer. Delicious - melts like butter in the mouth! Unfortunately at the same meal (in Ireland) we had oysters flavoured with vanilla - a disgusting combination. Ew!

Agreed. Ankle weights put too much strain on your knees.

Oh, I am loving that T-shirt!

I started C25k last May and downloaded some podcasts on to my iPod (free ones on iPlayer include NHS and Chubby Jones - both really good as they tell you when to warm-up, walk and run, with music in the background). I used some old gym shoes (bought proper running shoes after two weeks when I realised I actually was going…

Absolutely! But, for me, I prefer to get it all out of the way so I do a run as a warm up (30 mins on the C25k programme) then do weights straight after when I get home and I'm nicely warmed up.

I don't have a cut off point. At the end of the day it's the amount of calories you eat, not the time you eat them, that matters. I find saving a few calories for a snack later on means I don't feel deprived and avoids any possible binges. It also gives me some fuel for an early morning run, if I want (usually just a cup…

QFT I don't bother to read posts with poor grammar, spelling and SHOUTY POSTS IN CAPITAL LETTERS as it is just far too time consuming.

Swoon

Hey! So it is! But bet they would eat Pop Tarts too if the clever female head shoppers could operate a laptop to order from Amazon

Ah, don't worry about it - the molecules have only breathed on the water so no chance there will actually be any of that ingredient in there!

SRH7's Tip of the Day! When it comes to gathering food, spider monkeys have much in common with humans as usually it is the females who are responsible for hunting/shopping for the food sources. They also know how to shop wisely in a recession! Usually their diet consists of about 90% fruits and nuts but when times are…

I'm really sorry about your mom and I can undersand your need to search for anything that will improve her health. However, is it not possible that the treatment with homeopathy simply coincided with a period of remission following a flare-up? Just a thought. Until now there has been no evidence (in peer reviewed…

SRH7's Tip of the Day! Children are a bit like dogs. They are usually suspicious of new food so if you decide to introduce something new it's best to do it a little at a time, over a couple of weeks. Just add a little of the new food into the bowl of the food your dog/child has been eating. A couple of days later, add a…

SRH7's Tip of the Day! Platypuses stay fit by swimming a lot. When they swim they close their eyes, ears and nose. Do not do what the platypus does otherwise you might bang your head on the side of the swimming pool which would in no way improve your fitness!

SRH7's Tip of the Day! Foxes are wise creatures - if they have extra food, they hide it in a small hole and eat it later when they are hungry. Do the same if you want to lose weight - only eat half that Mars bar and stash the rest in the fridge to munch on tomorrow!
