Here's a great tip I learned from my sister: Ask for a burrito bowl however you like it and a get a tortilla shell on the side (to go). They will wrap the tortilla in foil. Eat exactly half the bowl and you can use the rest to make your own burrito the next day!!!

Never belonged to a gym in my life....I'm 45, 5' 11" 170 lbs....all from watching what I eat, running outside and lifting weights from time to time at home. Lately I've found Jillian so that's really made a huge difference! IMO you won't get a better workout at home from a $9 DVD and 20 minutes a day!!!…

Wow some amazing results in this thread! I've posted mine before but here you go... This was with running 2-3 days a week. 30DS took me about 40 days to complete. RI30 a little longer actually! Still I'm happy with the results. Working on 6 Week 6 Pack now.
-
Feel free to add me...been here 400+ days....open diary and log daily. Trying to get the family on board.
-
I'm 45 and anyone is welcome to add me. I'm also a runner (3 half-marathons a year and a full here and there) so if you're looking at getting into running or just starting out I'll be glad to help :)
-
Thanks I'll definitely try it!
-
Great job! Btw, my family doesn't see a change in me either...of course, they've seen me pretty much the same size my whole life. For those that don't know us, though, there's a big change! Looking forward to your Ripped In 30 results....that's a good DVD to do right after 30 DS...
-
Here you go...I've done 30 DS, Ripped In 30, and currently doing 6 Week 6 Pack. I love all of Jillian's DVDs, they work!!! I also run 2-3 half-marathons a year so I run 2-3 days a week with a bunch of a friends. Usually a 6-10 mile run on the weekend. I'm 45, 5' 11 ~170 lbs. Sure Jillian is a little boring but I just push…
-
IMO everyone should do 30 DS! Use the modifier if you have to, but if you push yourself you will see amazing results. I run all the time and the DVD at first was an eye opener for me. So far I've done 30 DS, Ripped In 30, and currently doing 6 Week 6 Pack. I'll do another one of her DVDs after this. I'm the type of guy…
-
Thanks, I used 5lb weights. Ripped In 30 is very similar to 30 Day Shred (with a few new moves) so it's an easy transition. And it's 4 levels instead of 3.
-
These were taken after a few Jillian Michael's DVDs and running. Not much weight change actually!
-
You can definitely drink and lose weight....it's like anything else, work it into your calories. My friends and I drink all the time - not sure what that says about us lol - but we're also very big into running. Half-marathons, marathons, Warrior Dash you name it....and I'm at my goal weight! I probably have gin + tonics 5…

First let me say 5 lbs in a month is pretty good! That's 60 lbs a year. However, you should probably figure out your TDEE less 20%, which would give you more calories and it won't seem as restrictive. 1,200 is a hard number to hit. My sister-in-law eventually settled on 1,500 and lost 17lbs in 3 months. All she did was eat…
-
Don't forget to adjust your TDEE based on your activity level. If you're running and then stop because you hurt your back, you're not burning off as much. Eating the same but not burning off as much means you'll gain, even if you're eating clean. Calories in vs. calories out. You may have to change it to "Sedentary" from…

I'v been running since high school...and pretty much weigh what I weighed then...so I would say nothing beats running as far as maintenance goes. Last year I ran 2 half-marathons and a full marathon, have a few more races planned this year. Love it. I'm 45, 5' 11" 170 lbs... When it comes to change, however, I would have…

Save for the two pieces of pizza your diary looks pretty good! We all make mistakes, I would just chalk it up to a bad meal. Won't hurt you in the long run. Just keep doing what you're doing. Btw, I love, love, love Silk Dark Almond Chocolate Milk, too. I drink it for breakfast and to recuperate after my long runs. Good…

Easy one. Calorie intake too high. So what if doc says eat back your exercise cals? You're not losing so it's not working. Try 1,650, or 1,750...play with the numbers until they start to go down. As previously mentioned, eat back some of your exercise cals but not all. Watch sodium and drink water. Be consistent. The scale…

It absolutely works! You'll be so sore the first week you'll be tempted to quit, don't! After 3 days of 30 Day Shred I bought Ripped In 30, that's how sore I was. I'm doing 6 Week 6 Pack now. I'll probably do another one of her DVDs after this or go back to 30 DS. Love it! Don't forget to eat right and take before / after…
-
Wow, some great results! Here are mine after a few Jillian Michael's DVDs and running :)
-
Thanks! I'm wondering what to try next...maybe Extreme Shed and Shred or go back to 30 Day Shred. I liked Ripped In 30, too. Maybe try it with heavier weights..
-
Great job! I'm about half-way through 6 Week 6 Pack but I've completed 30 DS and Ripped In 30 previously. Jillian rocks!
-
This. IMO running is one of the best things you can do. I've never had a gym membership. Recently I found Jillian Michael's DVDs. Love 'em!
-
Your calories are set too high. My sister-in-law is almost identical to you and had hers set at 1,500. She lost 17 lbs in 3 months. If you were at your goal weight, sure 1,800 would be fine. But you need to get into a calorie deficit consistently in order to lose.
-
I think we should be friends lol. Heck, some friends and I started a group in Raleigh, NC called Triangle Happy Hour where we go out to a different happy hour every week...and I'm at my goal weight (and have been since high school pretty much). Even spent a week at a swim up bar in Mexico last summer and drank tequila for…

Open your diary...it's in there. Are you measuring everything? Lot's of times what we think is 1 tbsp of sugar is really 2! And those "little" calories add up. Be sure you are accurately accounting for everything in your diary. When you say you splurge every once in a while, what does that entail? If it's eating out, lot's…

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for this thread, working out on a budget because I've never belonged to a gym. Only ran on a treadmill once in my life! I dress warmly and run outside. I have free weights at home. I do Jillian's DVDs ($9 apiece). Total investment in all of my equipment: probably $50. But, I want to caution OP…
-
I was going to say the same thing...weight loss (or anything worthwhile) is not linear. The key is not to give up when you're not seeing results or feel like you want to quit...
-
Great job!!!! I always tell people when they start 30 DS to take pictures. Sometimes you don't see the day-to-day changes but at the end of 30 days you will! After 30 DS I did Ripped In 30. I love all of Jillian's DVDs. For 20 minutes a day it works!
-
This. You'll very quickly find 1,270 is a hard number to hit unless you're exercising a *lot*. My sister-in-law tried 1,200 and eventually settled on 1,500. She still lost 17lbs in 3 months by eating right and walking. You'll see lots on MFP between the 1,500 to 1,700 range. To answer your question though I usually save…
-
Remember, MFP is not a diet it is a way of life. So if you're feeling deprived, eventually you're going to quit. I know I would. First, you should calculate your total daily energy expenditure (you'll see TDEE a lot on the boards) and subtract 20% to lose weight. With exercise, you'll have enough calories so that you…
