Hi Nathan! I am in a macro diet, too, and it helps to have foods at home that are mostly one of the macros so you can balance. For example, I know I can have a handful of berries to hit a carb macro, a little butter or olive oil for fat, or add an extra ounce of chicken if I’m low on protein. I also pre-plan the next day’s…

If there's still space, I'd love to be a part of this! Pottermore says I'm a Ravenclaw, my life says I'm a Gryffindor. I would be delighted to be either!

I just did my first day of Level 2 (Day 11) yesterday, and boy, I can feel it! If anyone is thinking Level 1 is boring or too easy for you, say hello to Level 2!

Also, side note: while I'm definitely more attracted to fit men, I find them roughly ten times MORE attractive if I find out that they used to be overweight. I would love to be in a relationship with someone who understood weight loss.

Whenever I watch The Biggest Loser's first episode of each season, every contestant has a reason why they've gained so much weight. A death in the family, some catastrophe. If I ever needed to be on that show (feeling very thankful that I don't!), I quite honestly would have to go up there and say, "You know what? Ice…

I was slow to start, and went through the C25K process (for the second time) starting in January. Today, I finally registered for a Half Marathon in July. Since I've worked up to 9 miles, I'm feeling pretty confident I can add four more and rock out in a month and a half! Good luck, friend!

I did day 4 two days ago, and was pretty sick yesterday so I took that day off. I'll rock out with day 5 of level 1 tonight, after my bike ride. :) Feeling good about it! My weight has still been fluctuating quite a bit, but I'm hoping to see a nice downward trend, or at least a downward trend on body fat %.

Is anyone else gaining weight on the 30 Day Shred? I'm up about a pound or two, but I guess there are a number of factors. I'm thinking my muscles are just retaining water while they're getting used to this new program. Hoping by the weekend it all flushes out of my system! Looks like my body fat percentage is decreasing,…

I just started today, too! Day 1, Workout 1: May 27th, 2013 Measurements: Hips: 37.5" Waist: 30" Bust: 34" Chest: 30.5" Arms: 12.5" Thighs: 21.5"

Hi friend! I would recommend checking out those Couch 2 5K programs. They start you off with jogging a given amount of time, then walking, then jogging. At the beginning, it seems easy-peasy (jogging for a minute, say, and walking for two). You slowly build up to jogging 15 minutes, walking one or two, jogging another…

Oops, that was totally incorrect! They provide 430 out of 3500 mg of potassium required per day.

Curious about my own potassium intake, I switched one of my micronutrient trackers to potassium. Apparently one serving of soybeans has 400+% of the potassium we need per day! Maybe that'll help? I buy them frozen and boil 'em for just a few minutes. I know not everyone is comfortable with soy, so it's a personal choice,…

Are you running on the same shoe you purchased three years ago? If so, that's likely your problem. :)

1. My gym membership. Having access to BodyPump classes is HUGE for me - I need encouragement and a class atmosphere to lift weights, especially for 60 minutes at a time. 2. My BodyMedia FIT. I've worn one (several different models) for 2+ years, now, and being able to track my progress over that period of time is…

I love Aria protein ($10 at Trader Joe's), but I just started an elimination diet (no dairy, gluten, soy, eggs, alcohol, chocolate, caffeine, refined sugars or artificial sweeteners) and my dietitian recommended Rainbow Light. Bought a bag today, going to try it out tomorrow morning!

I buy the Chobani 0% Plain yogurt, which has the most protein per cup that I've seen (22g). Since I'm no fan of plain jane yogurt, I add a tsp or so of strawberry jam, raspberry jam, peanut butter, honey, cinnamon, etc. Whatever I'm in the mood for.

Friend, turn your caps "IMG" into lowercase, and you're set!

What a huge difference! You look amazing! The left is where I've come from. Down about 30 pounds on the right, and that was 3.5 years ago. I'm still maintaining that right-side weight, but I've definitely turned some fat into muscle. Feeling good!

I've been doing research, and YESTERDAY I finally took the plunge (after three years of obsessing and several months of saving and coupon-seeking) and bought a Blendtec. It is beautiful, has excellent recipes that come with it, and the one jar (the FourSide jar) works for wet, and dry ingredients (with the Vitamix, you…

As a former RR employee that lost weight while working there, if I HAD to get something there for dinner, I'd order the small ensenada chicken platter without the spicy rub on the chicken, and nix out the tort strips on the salad. Ask for extra salsa and, if you need it, non fat ranch (instead of the baja ranch). That…

2000 - The new Millennium, the last Peanuts cartoon runs in newspapers (Charles Schulz died), Geocaching begins once Bill Clinton has announced that GPS will not be limited to the sole use of the US Military, Bush vs. Gore baloney in the Supreme Court, and the Summer Olympics were held in Sydney, Australia.

I had been going up and down and up and down, hovering on the same 3 pounds for MONTHS on a 1500ish calorie diet (I'm 5'7" with a BMR of around 2000 and daily cardio workouts). Once I upped my calories to 1700 NET (ie: usually 2100-2200 total, with my workouts), I've been steadily losing for a few weeks, now. It's nice to…

Today, I hung upside down from a playground bar because my students asked if I could do it. I wasn't sure if I could (though I rocked at it as a kid), but BOY did I nail that maneuver. Totally a moment of satisfaction, especially when my students gave me a round of applause. :)

I was really stressed about gaining weight with birth control (I just went on it last year), and my doctor totally understood my concerns. She put me on Nuvaring, first, which concentrates the hormones just where you need them (ie: not throughout your body - potentially allowing for weight gain - like the pill). I wasn't a…

I'm seconding the BMF. These devices are really fabulous motivators, and they do more than track steps and motion. The sensors that touch your skin on the band are collecting data that they then transform into calories burned. From my experience, it's been pretty accurate, and a great reminder for those days I need to be…

It's not. At least not compared to my BodyMedia FIT's data. I definitely prefer the one with more than an accelerometer and altimeter to judge calories burned. :)
-
I just returned mine, yesterday. I used to use a BodyMedia FIT, which has sensors that track a bit more accurately than an accelerometer (though there's an accelerometer, as well, in the BMF), but the FitBit was grossly overestimating my calorie burn to the point that it was telling me to eat 2000+ calories per day, with…

I got over my gymtimidation in college, when we had a super amazing workout facility that really was my only option. From the standpoint of someone relatively fit (now), I'd have to say - I never EVER have negative or judgmental thoughts about people who have a significant amount of weight to lose when they're on the…

I get my chia seeds in bulk at PCC, though that's not a huge chain like Whole Foods. Definitely cheaper in bulk! I've made overnight oats with both types of oats, and much preferred rolled oats to steel cut. Enjoy! It's such a fun, filling breakfast. :)
