  • Just my 2 cents but part of life is things that fall outside of our comfort zone or healthy zone and learning how to deal with them is part of staying healthy - avoiding a wedding buffet, for example, isn't always an option. But trying to navigate it and still feel good about our choices seems like a way to be able to live…
  • I have been having cravings for hotdogs so I'll have to try those when I need a junk food fix that doesn't wreck my calorie total. Thanks! ; ) Here are mine: 1. Plain Greek yogurt (I love Chobani and Fage) 2. sweet potatoes 3. Trader Joes muesli or BareNaked Fit granola 4. Progresso low sodium soups 5. blueberries - fresh…
  • Moving Comfort does a good job for my girls but I do wish they had some more fun designs. I don't know what it is about D cup that makes the manufacturers design them for old ladies. Even if they're covered by a workout top the straps often peek out. Not fair!
  • I have been through PPD as well as just a history of depression through the years. Are you taking buproprion? It can really kill your appetite - good for weight loss, not so good for energy to do stuff. It can also keep you up late. Hopefully whatever you're taking will help as your body adjusts. It took me trying several…
  • Ooh I never thought of using one of the Laughing Cow cheeses for that. Thanks for the idea! I like greek yogurt with a bit of granola or muesli. The higher protein count of the Greek yogurt keeps me full.
  • I could go for being a bacontarian. I could give it all up except for bacon. We're trying to do more meatless meals so I'd love to read about what people are doing here.
  • Yeah you ran for 16 minutes straight! When you're just starting, building up a base is more important than your speed. Good job and don't be afraid to take a few quick walking breaks if you're trying to build up to more time overall.
  • I hate when I run out of calories and it's not the end of the day! I feel your pain, sister. I have 3 little kids and a husband with an appetite but really, when our whole family eats healthfully it's easier on me as the cook too - and they are getting better nutrition to boot. I don't measure their portions like my own…
  • I'd trust the HRM a lot more than the treadmill. The treadmill knows the average calories for someone of your size and age but they don't know how hard it really is for you to work on the machine. Someone just starting out vs. a seasoned runner on a treadmill will exert different amounts of energy I'd guess? In other…
  • I'm a grazer too but that's not a bad thing, as others have mentioned. If my calories are tight, I find that there are a few snacks that give me a lot of "bang for the buck" so to speak. A little greek yogurt with a tablespoon of granola is really filling and satisfies cravings for me for a good long while. I just ate a…
  • I'm a penguin for sure - 12 minute miles the last time I ran with a beginner pace group (outside). If I was really pushing I think I could go faster but I don't know how long I could sustain it. I could use some help creating some sensible tempo runs aimed at newer runners who are trying to improve their speed a bit.
  • Some of the newer Polars have a feature that makes it more difficult for the signals to get crossed among different heart rate monitors if you do a lot of group exercise, like spinning.
  • Thanks that's a great idea. At the very least I'll have the people at the running store look at me tonight. I think my arches changed after having kids, too. I know I went up a half size in my shoes and I heard that it's that your arch flattens. I don't know if that's true but I wonder!
  • Thanks guys! I'm up for trying them. I've heard tons of great things about the Nike Free shoes too and the idea behind the better connection with the running surface intrigues me. I think I may have to bite.
  • Mine shrink a little too when I lose weight but they're still big enough that they're annoying to run with... I haven't been able to locally find any "fun bras" that really support but at my local running store they carry some that are adjustable and have a soft underwire support. That makes the girls happy.
  • It depends what you're taking it for. I was on an even higher dose than that for awhile but also had issues with anxiety, and at a really high dose it very much worsened the anxiety. 300 isn't an outrageous dose, but talk to your doctor before bumping. Also the 1x per day vs 2 depends on the form of Buproprion. Some are…
  • I guess I'm confused? If you're eating a set number of calories each day that is recommended for your weight, then if you expend an additional 500 calories then you're essentially in a place where you're not taking in enough to sustain your body. I know that when I was on weight watchers they focused on basically the same…
  • Hi there -it sounds like you're doing all sorts of great things to live a healthy life, so kudos. For all the physical activity you're doing though, it doesn't sound like you're eating enough calories each day. That can slow your metabolism down even further. Have you tried a few weeks with eating a few extra hundred…
