Definitely.

Do I pre-track days in advance? No. Do I track during the day, definitely. My breakfasts are normally pretty similar anyway, and I have a decent routine. I normally know by mid-morning what I am having for lunch, and by lunch what I am having for dinner. To be honest, I normally know in the morning what I am going to have…

Ours is skewered massively. We've been together 18 months. First six months we saw each other about 3 times a week (lived 40 miles apart). After about six/seven months we moved in together (quickly, I know, but we'd known each other for a while prior) and were happy and nesting and all really sappy stuff. I moved 40 miles…

Hold up girl, none of us are saying "Yep, gorge yourself on Big Macs and pizza" - we are saying it's okay to have those things. Why? Because if you deny yourself something you really want, you'll end up a) feeling guilty for considering it b) eating it and c) feeling guilty for eating it. By allowing yourself the OPTION of…

Killer forearms. Not as in could kill someone.

Someone I'd like to go to Bootcamp with!

To play devil's advocate, I can burn 350 calories easily in an hours walk if I'm walking quick enough - and I use a good brand HRM. (I'm 5ft 6in and 220lbs). It all depends on where, when and how fast. However, if you are going by MFP values alone, it's normally overestimated massively.

You look AWESOME. Hair is good, in my eyes anyway. Make sure you moisturise the skin 'cause that's gonna itch like a futhermucker. Seriously though, stinging high five coming your way, my friend!

FERKEN CHEESE - it's probably the only craving I have. GET IN MY BELLY.

This happens to nearly every girl at the gym other than me. Not by the PT's, but by the other men - they gawp as if the sentence girl, boobs and GYM never existed. I'm so glad to be the minority - I haven't got time for socialising like the majority of people in my gym. I probably scare them off anyway, because I talk to…

I think the perception of diet needs to be addressed here. When we monitor calories, especially people who are new to it - we tend to go for the "healthier" options - it's natural. The thought of eating the type of food we did before either fills us with dread or makes us envious of those who can without consequences (that…

It doesn't matter how small you start - start with whatever you are comfortable with and work from there. Anything is better than nothing. I started off walking at a pace of 2mph and not being able to talk properly as I was out of breath/aching/tired and could only do a mile. Now I can do 5+ miles at 3mph (or more) - it's…

I'm still 28, unmarried and no kids :flowerforyou:

Yup, in the UK. That sounds ace, thanks for the heads up! I have to admit I don't do as much running because my workouts are predominantly free weights with short bursts of cardio (so running is only 10 minutes max, and not at all lately because of kind-of-shin-splints) so my bra method works for me for cross trainer,…

I started running/jogging at HH and yeah, it's a right pain in the (boob) *kitten* but here is a simple tip that is cost effective. I wore a regular, supportive bra (an old one, so wasn't too fussed) and put a generic sports bra over the top. I was looking around finding that sports bra's in my size were either unavailable…

You, my love - are the exact reason WHY I am not concerned with the scales. I weigh myself sure, and I need to lose more weight, definitely, but I also know that I want to be HEALTHY and FIT and STRONG. I do not want to be skinny and deprived and miserable. If I stay the same weight now but lose inches/build muscle/look…

Don't mean to be a bore here, but take the slanging off a thread. OP - don't apologise for not knowing everything immediately. Weight loss, gain and maintenance is a learning curve - some people need a few attempts to get it right, some need more/less. The most important thing is that you've recognised you may need some…

There is this massive myth about dieting (I prefer to call it lifestyle change, because that is essentially it) which says when dieting, we need to drastically reduce our calories by x amount and only eat certain foods. This is UNTRUE. You can put down that horrible diet yoghurt, or ready meal, or rice cake. Instead, eat…

Brilliant choices - can't wait to have a proper read through them. Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte This was the first adult book I really adored - we did it at school and I genuinely loved it so much I have read it countless times and watched all adaptations. Girlfriend in a Coma - Douglas Copeland The end was a bit shammy,…

Agreed with Vince Vaughn, I cannot stand him - not sure why. He's not even good "bad" like Nic Cage, who just makes my pee my pants with awfulness. I have avoided the "Hangover" films on the basis that they have Vaughn in and because it's like WOOHOOOO cringefest - ergh. Titanic is probably one - but I think that gets…

See, I'm undecided on this. I weigh everyday - I don't always log it and I usually forget what it is. I weigh because I like to know what affects food, mood and sleep can do to my body - if I gain 1lb or lose 5lbs - the only thing I log is my mood and I wait until I see stability on the scales. I have, on average, lost…

Beautiful smile and youthful skin!

No. Not this. I started at 297lbs and went from walking a mile a day and being out of puff to being able to do a reasonable about of cardio - I'm still way off what other people would consider fit, but I'm doing alright. Strap up with joint pads - they can be a bit cumbersome and take some getting used to, but they DO…

I never said my way was right or that an abstention was wrong. From my personal experience, denying myself certain foods only led me to get to a certain point and buckle because the craving was so intense. I never binged in the classic sense, but I ate way too much portion wise. I would just find it very hard to maintain a…

UK-er here! Norwich. I'm a daily logger who doesn't promote restriction and likes swapping ideas and giving/receiving advice.

It is different for each individual. Personally, I advocate the "nothing is off limit" approach; if I want it, I will have it. The moment I deny myself the opportunity to have something, whether it is food, drink or an item of clothing, I will want it with a burning passion and end up binging on it. This took me ages to…

Good sense of humour/doesn't take herself seriously!

Now, for all the reasons above.

I use all three measurements for inspiration, plus BMI. That way every week there is at least some kind of reward, drop in stone, drop into a different pound bracket or KG bracket. BMI is great too. I convert my weight into all three! (I'm about 1lb off the next stone bracket, can't wait!)

Honestly? Probably about 28lbs over the two months. I weighed myself weekly, didn't deny myself and didn't track all the time and the lack of pressure was what worked for me. I've managed to carry it on so far. I think if you are going to approach this you need to consider the fact you may not drop exactly that weight in…
