I'm afraid this is a very, very biased point of view and is not at all the norm with either form of surgery, particularly lapband. Remember, if you were able to go to support groups across the US, you would find that the majority of people who have problems with the surgery are either those who choose not to comply with…

Gals, if you are throwing up from water, your band must not be adjusted properly! Has your doctor done regular follow ups with you? I have heard that there is a very, very small percentage of people who do not tolerate the band, but having mets hundreds of people with the band, I have never heard anyone with a properly…

I'm not sure I understand the question. Weight loss surgery like gastric bypass and gastric banding are not plastic surgery. I didn't think you could actually lose much weight via Liposuction because they can only remove so much? I've never checked into doing it pre-dieting before. But, I've seen several plastic surgeons…

If your only fear is the actual surgery, address your surgeon and speak to the anesthia people. The procedure, without a hernia operation is about 45 minutes and is done laproscopically, so it is minimally invasive, which cuts down the risk of infection. My cardiologist did a venus doppler test on my legs to check out the…

Had gastric banding surgery....aka the Realize Band or Lap Band.

Can you use the nebulizer before and after? You have to start VERY VERY slowly and build up. Also do your breathing exercises to try to build up your stamina. But, ultimately, ask your doctor. I am on Advair and Singular, plus the inhaler, but they seem to help! Good luck. Don't feel badly about going slowly!

Banded 10/1/2010, feel free to add me if you like! Best of luck!

I am also a hoarder and obsessive about office supplies. LOVE to do paperwork and fill out forms....always thought I should have worked at the DMV. Writing business plans. Writing legal briefs. Here's the BEST one......Barry Manilow. :blushing: Oh, oh, oh! Have to add.....using the Brother P-Touch to label EVERYTHING!!

If you hadn't said in the beginning that you KNEW your English, but chose NOT to use it, I don't think this thread would have continued like that. If you said that this was a source of problem for you, it would have been different. But, you sometimes write in paragraphs with capitals and other times, it is one long stream…

Unfortunately, in medical, legal, business and other white collar jobs, you are very much judged on your ability to communicate, which includes not only excellent spelling and grammar, but talents at rhetorial writing, sentence structure and having your paragraphs flow from one to the other with ease and great meaning. (By…

THIS.....absolutely!!!! And there were parts of other posts where you knew to use periods, capitalize "I" and use paragraphs. This is going to sound rude, but I don't intend it that way....are you just lazy? Maybe it's more that than anything else.
-
Look at this post....you have used some punctuation and separated into paragraphs and it is a ZILLION times easier to read! That's so much better! I'm sorry, I don't think it's "bullying" at all to let someone know that they are not effectively communicating.

Love your profile photo! Unfortunately, my pet peeve is people who don't at least TRY to spell and punctuate. It is SO difficult for me to understand a post enough to help when it is written like the post you just entered. I do NOT want to be rude, at all. I feel like a person should care enough about the reader to make it…

You look amazing! What a wonderful transformation! Congratulations on your success!

I NEVER considered this, but I bet that is EXACTLY the reason! Hilarious!!!!! PERFECT response. I agree, agree, agree!!!!!

This is a great way to start your journey! It's usually a little bit easier to make some of the changes when you have a reward at the end of it. For my lapband surgery, I had to lose 10 pounds, but I immediately starting seeing their nutritionists, who gave me my first set of nutritional guidelines for starters and it…

I can get 30 grams of protein for only 160 calories with my shakes, which is great. Plus, for those of us who are wls patients, they are VERY useful pre- and post- surgery when liquid diets are often necessary. I have one every morning.

Thank goodness....arrogance is not needed here!

I thought your photo didn't match your weight goal information. You look SOOO think in your photo! BMI 42 should qualify you with no co-morbidities. Now the doctor has to be sure your style of eating will be helped by the band. Hope you can find an awesome doctor. I don't know where you live, but see if any of the big…

I have had my band since 10/1/2011, but had it empty until January because of swelling from my hernia surgery, done at the same time. I got up to 5ccs by April, but had to have it all removed again in June, because I had a serious ear operation at the beginning of July. So, August I had the saline put in again and just a…

Wow! You do think quite a bit of yourself. When you publicly state that you feel that you are more qualified than well-respected universities and board certified surgeons, I can realize a God complex when I see one. IF you are such an "expert", why are you here on MFP at all? Just here to "enlighten" others? I have a…

I missed all of the drama, but regardless of what happened, why don't you give it 24 hours before you take any drastic action. I thought your apology was very genuine, but, as I said, I didn't see what happened. Don't deprive yourself of this great tool for one infraction. Just take it wasy before deciding!!!

Meerkat....it's really a shame that you have such a prejudice against those of us who are enjoying success with our lapband, regardless of how it works. IF you would stop judging and actually look into the numerous studies, you will see that top doctors in almost every specialty and medical research, plus insurance…

Once again, people do not understand WHY the lapband is helpful in weight loss. It is NOT the same as "eating right and exercising" for people who have been yo-yo dieting and it is NOT gastric bypass, so it is not nearly as "dangerous" or "drastic" as people here make it seem. YES, you do have to undergo anesthesia....for…

If you are eating 1000 calories and working off 600, you won't "be fine" for very long. You need at LEAST 1000 calories net per day, preferably 1200, unless you are under a doctor's supervision and taking supplements, etc.

My doctor and nutritionists have explained it to me time after time and I can't give you the scientific reasoning because I keep forgetting. BUT, many people who are doing athletics and body building eat high carb diets for energy. People who are trying to lost weight are better off eating low carb diets. I am supposed to…

Important lesson to learn.....when attempting to make a lifestyle change, don't expect everyone to be supportive, even if they SHOULD do so! It's a big topic discussed in the weight loss surgery support group. You know what you want to accomplish and lots of people have their own opinions and misinformation. You have to…

"Significant" weight loss isn't really enough info, but a plastic surgeon visited our weight loss support group to tell us about what we should expect after losing pounds. If you are losing close to 100 pounds, it's easier to answer, but it looks like you are trying to lose 60, right? That's on the edge. For everyone, it…

I have a "text book" about it, so I can add some information myself, but was hoping to find someone who had experience with it. I can tell you that it is based on "Brain Wave Vibration" and believes that if you take care of your brain, everything else will heal itself from there. It's sort of starting Qi flow brain down.…

Actually, I have had this topic addressed several times...here are the facts in layman's terms....During late night hours, we secrete hormones that increase our hunger and makes it more difficult to resist urges to eat. For this reason, people tend to snack more, make less healthy choices and because the most restorative…
