Yeah, I eat a lot of nuts and almond butter. Yum! Part of the reason I dislike using much oil is that I feel it coating my mouth easily. Like, it bothers me. But sometimes the taste is just too precious. The spritza and water trick gave me the best of both worlds--lots of flavor and texture, but no oily mouth.

I'm half-scared to say this, because I imagine Jillian leaping out from behind a corner and beating the crap out of me, but if you go on BT Junkie, they have a torrent for it. Life Hacker has tips for navigating the world of torrent. But yeah, I LOVE the 30 Day Shred. It's hard, but not unfair.

Well, I'm a writer and a victim of internet addiction, so it's only natural-- My adventures in the world of health shall be put to paper! Uh...keyboard. http://damnthefreshman15.blogspot.com/ I hope to provide some funny stuff. And good recipes! There will be a focus on how to be healthy when cramped for time, space, and…

What I'm looking forward to playing with more than anything is Spectrum's butter-flavored canola spray. THAT has me tingling! No shrimp will be safe. I didn't know that some oils help the body absorb nutrients. Neat! Now that I'm home and blessedly with my measuring spoons, I'll probably be using more normal olive oil--in…

Ok, I may be an easily-excited teenager, but holy cow, I am doing a happy dance. Overall, I don't miss oil. It coats my mouth and leaves an unpleasant aftertaste, at least to my crazy taste buds. But sometimes, like when I'm sauteeing something or preparing seafood...I miss the damn stuff. But I don't miss the calories. I…

You are describing my childhood Sunday lunch! We used to usually alternate between that and roast beef with mashed potatoes and green beans. I'm happy that I managed to find a pretty low-cal way to recreate fried chicken though, using Hungry Girl's recipe.

I don't see why not. It just seems like a lot of work to peel and mash it up. Canned pumpkin, such as Libby's, is just mashed up pumpkin, with nothing added. However, there are canned pumpkin pie fillings, but those are clearly labeled as such. I know, sounds horrid, right? I was REALLY bored. The tasty result floored me.…

My grandma always made lots of meat loaf, so I'm quite fond of it. I've been on a Mexican food kick, but refraining from a restaurant blowout, so this dish is making my mouth water. Haha, I'm back in Texas, as I go to school in San Francisco. Tex-Mex and I have had a very tearful reunion. "Phoenixflame, come, you must see…

HA! This morning I DID mix some pumpkin into my oatmeal. It adds lots of volume and not nearly as many calories as banana. A pumpkin smoothie? This I will have to try. Hmmm...I have skim milk, but only Greek yogurt. Any suggestions for a thickener?

Ugh, I know! Now that I'm home, grabbing anything is just SO easy. I admit...sometimes I take the easy way out. I stumbled across a pack of those sugar free Jellos, which are 5 calories each. If I'm feeling snacky but know I shouldn't be, sometimes it's just easier to eat one, be content with that, and breathe a sigh that…

Er...I'm 5'4" and weigh 143. I eat between 1250-1350 calories a day, without exercise. Since coming home for the holidays, I've been very careful about what I eat and (except for Christmas day) haven't gone over my calories. However, I'm probably consuming more sodium, and I haven't been working out nearly as much. The…

Yup, the wagon rolled right past my sprawled form. With me though, it's lack of exercise more than anything. I've been careful about what goes into my mouth, but I'm scared that the lack of exercise is letting the fat creep back on. Tonight though, I'm hitting that elliptical like it's the Superbowl and my wife won't get…

The best kitchen assistant for those who want to live a healthy lifestyle but at the same time are unable to always prepare or don't care about every ingested article being a paragon of whole food health. Basically, she has lots of low-calorie swaps for "naughty" food, like chicken fingers and fettuccine alfredo. A lot of…

I was hungry for pumpkin and had some leftover from a custard I made. This recipe is sort of a WIP, but I was so happy with the result I felt like I just had to post it. PUMPKIN SANDWICH Ingredients: - 2 slices of bread (I used Nature's Own whole wheat 50 cal per slice) - 3 tablespoons canned pumpkin - 1 tbsp fat free…

Yeah, I've heard people simply adding them to their food plans and thus gaining weight. Keep in mind, Slim Fast, in its original form, was a drink given to cancer patients to help them GAIN weight--it offered a tasty, easily digested package of nutrition. I admit...one time I was out of milk and REALLY wanted cereal. I had…

I love her. Just wanted to give a shoutout. I hear tons of complaints that her stuff is pure empty calories. Uhh...no? Sure, some of the desserts aren't cornucopias of nutrition, but c'mon, it's a dessert. And her FiberOne chicken strips are a work of genius. And she can come up with uses for squash and pumpkin I never…

Slim Fast used to be godawful, because you were basically starving the weight off and not learning a lick about proper health and nutrition. And you were crazy hungry. Screw Whoopie. But, to match stride with America's recent health kick, Slim Fast has reformed itself. Now, it works by setting up online meal plans than…

So I should just weigh it before I throw it in the pan, count those calories, and ignore shrinkage?

No no, see, I DO have free access to a gym, it's just that there's tons of machines. I was asking for any advice on particular machines to focus on. Haha, I was going to get one or two personal training sessions (in which I get a discount)...but I was just in a car accident where the person at fault managed to very…

So, I had an analysis done. I'm almost at my goal weight, but the person doing the analysis told me to get my body fat percentage down. She recommended focusing on strength training. However, Phoenixflame is a broke-*kitten* college student and can't afford actual personal training. Can some of you fit-savvy types…

Great job! One foot in front of the other, do it enough times, and you'll realize how far you've come. If you stay up late but have dinner in the evening (like me!), I always have a small snack, just so I don't go to bed with the rumblies.

Yeah! That's my mode of thinking. I guess if I sounded spazzy, it's because I'd never snip at someone who worked to fix me a meal, no matter how unhealthy it was. Not saying I'd gobble it down either, but you get the point. But that doesn't mean I don't get a bit frustrated sometimes. Particularly because my mom goes…
-
Sorry for venting guys :blushing: It's easier for me to express my frustration the internet...so that I don't snap at my parents. I've been on my own for 4 months...food being out of my control will take some getting used to. Eh, it was in a pan, with a little bit of oil. But I don't care much anymore. I was just having a…

So I'm at my parents' house, was doing well. I managed to appease my mom's desire to pump me full of sugar by taking one bite of potato cake and one bite of some caramel thing my stepdad whipped up. Dinner was brisket, but I managed to slice the fat off. This morning, my stepdad offered to make eggs. I asked for whites…

Oh oh! Today I went to Beck's Prime and ordered the Half Order Double Breasted Dreamland. Sooo yummy. - Grilled onions - Grilled mushrooms - Lettuce - Tomato - Swiss cheese - Hickory sauce - 1 chicken breast And the best part? 324 CALORIES

That's why they lose so much weight. But that's also why they have huge problems keeping it off--no one in the real world has that much time to work out, not to mention that an 8-hour workout without Jillian Michaels threatening to eat your ovaries is not going to be as effective as one with.

Ok...I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it anywhere. I got 4 ounces of 96/4 ground beef from Whole Foods. I cooked it with a bit of 0-calorie oil spray and some Meat Magic. After it was done, I weighed it again. It weighed 2.6 ounces. Do I count it as 2.6 or 4.0? On MFP, say, I find the entry for Kroger…

Heya all! So, I had Indian food last night. YUM. It was delicious! I had meant to order idllis, but the waiter wouldn't let me sub them on the dosa menu, and the dosa menu had the sambar. Since I'd heard that dosa weren't THAT calorically bad, I ordered what was labeled "salad dosa." Normally, I wouldn't care particularly…

This movie is horrifying. However, one must remember that he was acting on an extreme--eating every single meal, and the unhealthy stuff too. I do think the lawsuit the teenagers filed was stupid though, from a legal perspective as well as common sense one. Are you going to sue your drug dealer for making you into an…
