  • I'm in the same position... I've been maintaining quite successfully since Easter... but I can see my old over-eating habits creeping back and the only reason I'm not getting bigger is the fact I exercise my now toned and shapely butt off 5-6 days a week  I couldn't agree more... gotta love FUR
  • OMG... I must be an old man  I use the hair-dryer to take the damp off... then again, I'm a bit of a hairy bear  I've never understood this embarrassment about being naked... we've all got bodies... all different shapes and sizes... but all perfectly natural.
  • When I started swimming I found that normal shampoo and conditioner just didn't really do the biz and even though I have short hair, I hate it when it feels dry and wiry. I was recommended to try Boots Sun, Swim & Gym and I use both the shampoo and conditioner and it's really made a HUGE difference. I swim about 4-5 times…
  • There are quite a few bears on here although some of us are not quite a beefy as we once were... but are still as furry
  • I hated being FAT I hated having to struggle to do things I used to take for granted. I hated not being able to buy nice clothes and have well-fitting shirts/jeans etc. I hated seeing myself in photographs and realising that the man with the HUGE round tummy was me. I hated being naked and not being able to see the wee man…
  • I had no idea that Patti was also a writer ... must try and find her books http://www.nme.com/news/patti-smith/54699 http://nyheter.henningmankell.se/?p=1529&preview=true&lang=en
  • Vanilla Frijj is my post-workout drink of choice - I just have to limit myself to one a day as it's sooo delicious. :drinker:  I'd seen other peer-reviewed studies into the benefits of milk as a post-exercise recovery drink and so much better and cheaper than expensive exercise drinks.
  • Well it would be nigh on impossible to be related to the Queen of England as she died childless in 1603 and the English Monarchy was more or less replaced by the Scottish Monarchy (when King James VI of Scotland became James I of England) although it was a further 104 years before the United Kingdom came into being on 1…
  • Excellent advice as ever from Berry. Someone mentioned getting an Oyster card... very good advice, but busses can be more fun than the Tube and you can walk practically everywhere in London (especially between Leicester Square and Covent Garden ) A nice walk is up though Regents Park, along the canal behind London…
  • And if you read the wiki article you'll see it was demolished in 1938 and replaced by a branch of Marks & Spencer which still stands on the spot.
  • I only really know her from her hit single "Because the Night" although I've seen her perform on TV and heard other tracks on the radio, none have really been my kind of thing. She was on the radio here in the UK recently promoting her new album. I also found out that she was last year's recipient of the Polar Music Prize…
  • I had a colleague who has kept her ex-husband's name because it was how she was known professionally. I also think the term "disrespect" is also used far too inappropriately and keeping a name albeit that of your ex is not disrespectful, after all, if your children also have the same surname it causes less confusion. A…
  • Looks like a load of quackery to me... I'd trust a GP rather than some online SAT test. Kobashi, honestly, you don't look like you have anything more than fatty moobs, like most BIG men have. I went from rotund to chunky in 6 months and I still have a fair bit to lose... I'm still about 31% body fat but I've suffered with…
  • The best exercise for losing fat is... the one you enjoy and will continue doing for the rest of your life! You can be told to do jumping jacks or lifting weights or running or whatever, but if you don't enjoy what you are doing, then you will most likely give up which is no use to man nor beast. Yes, there are certain…
  • Can't say I've noticed me getting off my face on a teaspoon of sugar - unable to concentrate, hyperactive, sweating, pupils dilated. Sugar is not toxic - I do not deny that too may of us have too much sugar in our diet than is necessary and high levels of fructose can exacerbate some illnesses and medical conditions in…
  • I'm with GemaG... I can see your tummy fat more than your moobs in your picture and if you have lost 75 lbs since March this year then it's only to be expected. Speaking from experience, when you lose weight quickly you are going to be left with fatty deposits and in men this is often in the chest and belly. I've lost 60…
  • OMG... Lordan Lovtchev is amazing!!! Would it be ignorant of me to suggest that there's nothing stopping you? [/quote] Darren... it's quite simple... I've not got the drive and dedication to achieve such physical perfection. I know there are folks on MFP that have totally transformed themselves and I wish I had…
  • I've recorded this to watch later (and might catch it on iPlayer later) I only saw the tail end of it and I know the premise was supposed based on some genetic markers Michael Mosely had in some blood work that mean he was possibly pre-diabetic and at risk of some types of cancer. I don't really want to comment more at…
  • Peter Waterfield the Olympic diver has pretty much the ideal physique. I could only dream of being so toned!
  • I think Meerkat has stuck to the subject and indeed qualified the argument with examples. An athlete at Olympic level is an exceptional human being and I suspect they have a number of advantages over us mere mortals who can only look on in wonder and awe. Pistorius has overcome so much to reach the Olympics and any…
  • You may joke, but in this news story from the BBC Online, an ex-employee of the Royal Household was refused a job with a car rental firm because they have a policy of not hiring men with beards!!! :noway: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-18811644 According to a spokesperson for the company:…
  • OMG... kendra... we're Olympic Athlete Twins Like you i wasn't really expecting to match anyone except perhaps a Sumo wrestler and I was sooooo surprised to be matched to Joshua who frankly is an absolute hunk!
  • I'm a Colcestrian by marriage although originally from Ayrshire, Scotland.
  • I think you're looking for an excuse and the "Diet Coke makes you fat"-myth is convenient. A lot of people who lose weight on a calorie-controlled diet get down to a set weight then go on maintenance and find they put on weight and eat over their daily calories. This is quite common and you just have to find out through…
  • I must admit, when I see fat kids I want to scream at them and their parents. But it's not that easy and I'm not that brave. One of my very best friend's grandson is 11 yrs old and has gone from a skinny kid to a chunky chump. It worries me when I see him so big at such a young age as it reminds me of how I was at that…
  • It took a LOT of effort not to burst out laughing, but I just smiled. Had it been one of my colleagues and I was part of the group, I might not have been so reticent. I know there are medical conditions and certainly some ethnic groups are pre-disposed to fat retention, but this was a Caucasian, English woman who I had…
  • If Scotland does legalise gay marriage, then yes, i suppose so. In Scotland a registrar can marry you anywhere, whereas in England & Wales you can only get married in a venue that is registered for civil ceremonies.
  • Most plateaux aren't! Weight loss is rarely a straight-path graph. If it were, there would be a magic one-size-fits-all formula. Generally, if we move more and eat less, we will lose weight. But for most folks there comes a point where your body adjusts to the calorific intake vs. the energy expended. It's the same as when…
  • Why? It's been so long since I dated, but if I offered to take someone out for dinner and I chose the restaurant, then I'd pay, and we'd usually share rounds on any pre/post-dinner drinks. If we met for a drink and decided to go out for a meal, then we'd split the bill. It's a total nonsense for a woman to expect a…
