  • Berry you are amazing. You never give up and it's been a honour being your MFpal for 300 odd of those 500 days. Looking forward to the Big Millennium bash!!!
  • It's not a pretty sight... but when has that stopped me before
  • Oh yeah... I love baked beans, esp Heinz baked beans. And beans on toast is a student favourite and actually one of the most nutritious meals you can have. I had beans for breakfast this morning along with poached eggs and pork sausages and of course toast... and I'll probably have exactly the same tomorrow (as I'm still…
  • You look terrific and you've got a lot to be proud of. Congratulations! :flowerforyou:
  • I agree that it shouldn't make a difference, but sadly until society accepts diversity unconditionally, it will still make the headlines and maybe not always for the right reasons. I have no idea who Anderson Cooper is; I've just googled him and he looks cute (but then he's on the TV so I guess that's a foregone conclusion…
  • This reminds me of my first encounter with Scientology. I was in Amsterdam on holiday and I was stopped in the street one morning by a nice friendly bloke with a clipboard who said he was doing some market research and would I be available to answer a few questions. I thought, oh what fun, but then instead of asking me…
  • That sounds yummy... I'm not a big bean fan, but Jem is  And yes, I was born a month before Xmas. My paternal grandfather died on Xmas day the year before I was born, so my grandmother would never spend Xmas with us, but mum & dad never let that spoil our enjoyment.
  • Well you share your birthday with Annie Lennox (she's 5 yrs older than you - but you both look marvellous!) I can't imagine what it's like to have a birthday clash with a major holiday although only by an accident of birth: had I been born Stateside, my birthday would regularly clash with Thanksgiving. In the UK when you…
  • If you've got 50+ lbs to lose then the whole eating under your BMR baloney is really irrelevant. Sure you need to feed your body essential nutrients, but with a fat store that's ripe for the picking, you're not going to starve (or go into that other mythical state, the dreaded starvation mode).
  • We were together almost 8 months before I proposed to Jem on bended-knee on the observation deck of the Empire State Building. Actually he didn't actually say yes, more along the lines of "get up you silly bugger, you're blocking the way!" We got married on the 4th anniversary of the day we met in the real world (we'd…
  • Are you getting enough protein? I try and have some protein with every meal as protein usually keeps you feeling fuller, for longer. I also eat pretty much what I want, as deprivation can lead to totally irrational cravings, I just don't eat the volume of food I used to. If you enjoy dairy, low-fat dairy is good and helps…
  • We go to the pub practically every Saturday and Sunday afternoon to meet with our friends and I know I'll have at least 3 x ½pts of strong cyder and a bag of cheesy moments or similar bar snack. I have it worked into my weekly calories along with my daily chocolate treat. And if I go over for the week and put on a couple…
  • My husband is 7 years my senior and seven months into our relationship I was whisked off to New York to celebrate his 50th birthday. In 2½ year's time it'll be my turn and I was planning on visiting San Francisco, but we'll see. Amongst my close circle of friends, the youngest are in their early 30s and the oldest in the…
  • Unfortunately it always clashes with the hubster's birthday party so we've never been together (although we've attended the event separately in the past). Regrettably, this year's event has had to be scaled back: http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2012/06/28/pride-london-funding-shortfall-sees-worldpride-heavily-scaled-back/ Maybe…
  • As a fan of the rough & rugged look, I don't really go in for manscraping. I can understand why some men do it, but I'd not want to do it myself. There's only one place apart from my face that ever sees a razor and that's just because it feels more comfortable, and not just because I'm a cyclist
  • I'm photosensitive and have been wearing glasses with photocromatic lenses since I was 14. In my 30s -after years of monitor abuse, myopia set in and I now have varifocal lenses in my specs. As far as I know they haven't designed photochromatic contact lenses yet, but I've never had an issue when wearing glasses apart from…
  • I used to be a dreadful couch-potato. I'd come home from work, turn on the TV, make dinner, eat it in front of TV then fall asleep on the couch and wake up at 2am and crawl into bed. All this while my *kitten*-ex would be online chatting to all his online f*cuk-buddies and while I was watching TV I was snacking like there…

  • The watch is indeed waterproof but the WearLink won't transmit accurately underwater*, so don't expect any reading to be accurate. You can get watches such as Pool Mate by Swimovate which count laps and measure pace so give a guestimate of calories burned based on your stats, but it depends how much of a swimmer you are!…
  • I think the benefits are psychosomatic rather than physical. As Berry mentioned, your liver is designed to detox your body and unless you are hammering it with booze and junk - and I mean hammering it, not enjoying the odd pizza & beer - it will detox your body in 24 hrs, every 24 hrs and doesn't really need to be given…
  • Spookily enough - thank you Google ads - I just got a Netflix promo on my iGoogle page. I clicked on it, but it's giving me USA rates (our work e-mail it routed through a server in Dallas - go figure! - so at work I appear to be i the US when I'm so obviously not ) Methinks in the UK it'd be priced at £4.99 a month…

  • O M G !!! I hate to say it, but really and truly... Only in America!!! I think it's a brilliantly simple but visually very striking, and dare I say it, brave campaign on the part of Kraft foods, but hell when you've as huge a global presence as they do, I guess they're not too worried about p*ssing off a few fundy nutjobs…

  • I think we do have Netflix now. Then there's umpteen film channels on cable & satellite but all at premium prices. DVDs are often cheaper to buy on Amazon than the cost of a subscription to the movie channels

  • I must admit I've got this on my Amazon wish-list, but haven't got round to buying it yet. If I remember rightly it got good reviews in the UK Gay press.

  • Congratulations ron. Hope you and your fiancé will be as happy as me and the hubster
  • Oh I miss those days. When I lived in Rotterdam I used to go out with a book and sit on a café terrace and watch the world and his husband go by and indeed sometimes you'd get drawn into interesting conversations.
  • I do not think that is necessarily true:noway: , certainly not in the UK (unless, of course, if your first line post greeting is, "do you want fries with that?"  ) Serving the public is often a thankless task and in these times a job is a job and I could think of a lot worse. :ohwell: And if my partner (BF or…
  • I think this works for men and kids bit not for women who are naturally more curvaceous. I think the Nuffield need to think again if the think 37" is the ideal waist size for men. From what I gather 37" is the max waist you should be, but again that doesn't account for height/build so it seems a bit daft, but here's…
  • Yes. I think you are probably more active that a lot of peeps and no, I don't think it's an excuse. But being that active and still overweight means one thing: you're eating too much. But I think you've already sussed that out. So the challenge you have is to identify what you're eating and when/why and find a way to…
  • The Polar watch is waterproof, but the WearLink does not work underwater. Some of the radio waves will transmit, but they will be distorted and thus the reading will not be anywhere near as accurate as when worn under normal (dry) conditions. You can get poolmate watches that you can setup similar to HRMs and they count…
