Your stomach doesn't absorb food it breaks it down for digestion into the intestine. So, what ever came out didn't get absorbed.

I eat around half the work out calories back.

Welcome to MFP! Good luck reaching your goal. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the cals. that the machines say that you burn are way off. They don't take account for people's weight. Logging your time and speed on this site is more accurate but even that is an estimate. A Heart Rate Monitor (that accounts for your…

Welcome to MFP! Good luck on your new journey!

After reaching my goal I went on 'maintain' and my weight would weekly go up and down a little. I've gone back on 'lose' for now to prepare for the holidays. Maintaining works.

Congrats! and, a belated welcome to MFP to you!

What's great about losing weight here on MFP is that you are losing it at a slow enough pace that your body adapts to its new form. I don't have any loose skin and I'm in my 40's. BUT, this is also why it's important to exercise, too.

Welcome to MFP! This site is set up for a long term and healthy weight loss which is 1 to 2(sometimes more)lbs. a week. It's set up this way so you learn to eat properly over time w/out a weight bounce back when you are done losing. It takes longer but it is worth it in the long run. Good luck!

I would say that 180 is a good goal weight for your height. You don't have to exercise if you don't want to. I just feel better when I do exercise.

Welcome to MFP! Tip #1: Water, water, water... drink lots of it and get away from regular soft drinks. Good luck to you!

Awesome job! Congratulations to you!

You can lead a man to water but you can make him drink. It's got to be something he wants to do and no amount of poking or prodding will make him do it. My best advise is to lead by example and if he asks questions just help guide him. I went through years before I had to come to my own decision. Good Luck!

Exercise. When ever you exercise it not only gives you calories you can eat it also suppress your appetite so you don't feel like cheating anymore. A trick I found while watching TV is the do crunches, sit ups, or push ups during commercial breaks (not the whole break mind you). This also help distract me while those food…

Welcome to MFP! I think everyone has that same eye opener when they start here but it's great that you can then use that info to get yourself on track. Good luck!

Congrats on the 37lbs lost, so far, and good luck on the rest!

Thanks for sharing. I hope a lot of people here 'digest' this info and stop freaking out w/their scale.

Excellent job! WTG!!

What motivated me was a combo of my XXL shirts not fitting any more and when ever I'd complain about the wife would say, "Why don't you do something about it?" So I finally did, after years of complaining about it.

Wake up 5-10min. earlier.

Weight loss isn't fun. It's hard work. This site is makes it manageable and there are other people here in the same boat as you. You do because it's better than quitting. I run a lot now but I still hate running. The only thing that I like about running is finishing and reaching my goal. This isn't Facebook it's…
