  • Any one can add me! I'm 24 and doing the Primal Blueprint, similar to paleo diet. So far I'm down 14lbs in a month and a half and feel better than ever! I don't log most of my calories but I do log on every day, update my weight periodically, read friends statuses, and give updates.
  • The beauty of weight training is that you can adjust your weights depending on how much that particular muscle can handle. Squats are about lower body, so you need to be able to load up enough weight so that your lower body is working hard. If you're having to lift that same weight with your upper body, you're cheating…
  • If you do end up getting it for her birthday, you have to make sure you also do some really good romantic things! You don't have to spend a lot of money on the other things, but it's important so she knows how much thought you put into it and how much you love her. Maybe even send her on a scavenger hunt and set up the…
  • Whatever fruits you're already putting in it, be sure and freeze the night before. Your smoothie will come out thicker and stay cold longer! If you're already using frozen fruits, the greek yoghurt is a good idea. I just use regular (plain) yoghurt, fresh fruit (not frozen), a bit of milk, and a few ice cubes, and I'm…
  • Hey, I'm so sorry to hear this. What a tough thing to hear. :-/ The reason I clicked on this thread is because I'm currently trying to find my way through grieving the loss of my parents marriage, and in many ways the loss of my father as connecting with him becomes impossible due to mental illness. All last year I seemed…
  • I don't care for the blue skirt w/ a black jacket personally, so it's between the other two. I'm totally digging the dress with black boots. The heels are good too! The leopard skirt is also super cute; what top would you wear with it? Sorry if you answered that already and I missed it, feel free to ignore. You look super…
  • The most effective workout plan is the one you will do. Most of my problem is aiming too high. When I can't do it, for physical or mental reasons, I become discouraged. When I aim lower, I may not burn as many calories but I feel POWERFUL and that makes me want to come back.
  • I think it is SO smart to start easy and work up. I always kill myself working out and then like you say I just end up hating it and don't want to do it anymore! When you're starting out, the best workout is... the one you'll do. If it's super hard or inconvenient or makes you feel like you're going to die, you might not…
  • Definitely thought this thread was about "women with chin hair" at first. Anyways.... Two little pigtails with clips along the sides. French braid. Rolling it along the sides then joining in pigtails (helps catch the little hairs along the side). Just pinning all of it back and away so your hair is loose in the back but…
  • Absolutely true, but don't think that "normal" amounts won't cause problems, either. Ever wonder why cancer is so prevalent in the US right now? It's not because small doses are completely harmless. Do think about what you put into your body. Eat healthy, natural foods.
  • I'm not sure but I believe I've heard that there's the amount you should drink daily (half your body weight in ounces), but on top of that you should drink to replace lost fluids while exercising. So in that case, "gym water" which is consumed to replace the fluids you're losing through sweat, does not count towards your…
  • Some people are more sensitive to different foods. I don't really mean an allergy, but more like body types that require different nutrition. Think about it: native peoples eating their native diets have excellent health as a rule. Eskimos eat almost exclusively meat and lots of fat, but they don't have heart conditions…
  • If you start exercising more, your body will start demanding more food! Definitely do some strength training. You'll gain muscle instead of fat (or possibly both since your body might need a little more fat to fill out your curves like you said!) and you'll gain weight in all the right places. I'm starting the Body for…
  • This looked so yummy that I entered it in to MFP as a recipe so I could check out the calories. I entered it exactly as originally written and it came out as 377 calories a pocket - not bad at all! A few substitutes would probably lower this number, esp switching out the sausage for a lower calorie meat or more veggies.…
  • 1) Expense - So many other things I do with that money; I can't spend it on a class like that. 2) Pain - I have sensitive joints with arthritis-like symptoms that don't do well with high impact activities, and I won't enjoy a class that makes me hurt. I've had enough pain, I don't like more of it.
  • "How old were you when you got engaged? How long had you been together before getting engaged? How old were you when you got married? Are you still together (if so, for how long)? Doing some informal research for a class - answers appreciated!" We were both 23 when we got engaged. We had been together for 5 months at that…
  • It doesn't bother me. Maybe it's my theater background - can't avoid seeing each other in our natural states with those bitty changing rooms! But I just don't mind seeing other peoples bodies. :: shrug :: Seeing a male naked body would possibly make me a bit uncomfortable but that has more to do with only wanting to see my…
  • Different people will burn more or less calories depending on how difficult an exercise is for them. That's why heart rate monitors (HRM) are so helpful. If someone does a lot of running, then their muscles are going to be more efficient than someone who just started walking. They won't burn nearly as many calories and it…
  • Do you overheat? Either when exercises, or when it's hot outside? My aunt couldn't sweat and had to watch her temperature and regulate it with things like those neckbands you soak in cold water, because w/o sweat her body couldn't cool itself. If it's not causing any troubles for you, I wouldn't worry about it. Sweat is…
  • My husband lost several pounds in the few weeks after we got married.... I attributed that to "sexercise". ;)
  • Your bum is h.a.w.t. ... Just saying. Don't look at me like that, it had to be said.
  • Toooootallly depends on the guy. There is a huge range of reasons for divorces (or break ups; not clear if you were married or not), mental state of guys, what the relationship is like between the two afterwards, etc etc. I wouldn't want my dad to be alone with anyone's children and in charge of them. I consider him to be…
  • I have a closet full of clothes that I can't wear, and since I've been poor at my higher weight a lot of my current clothes are not cute or fun or unique like those are. I want to wear my plaid pencil skirt that turns heads, and my lavender suit, and everything else. My husband is getting deployed, so I really want him to…
  • "Great! Would you like to join me in my weight loss and fitness journey? See you at the gym! Let me know how your weigh in goes! Yay fitness buddies!" Okay, so you probably don't actually want to say that, but it can be tempting to toss it right back at them. If it's so easy, you should be in the shape of your life, buddy,…
  • I lose an average newborn infant.... hope he's okay!
  • You're fine! Sometimes people are used to trying to cut calories by unhealthy and ineffective ways... eating tiny portions of unhealthy things, for example. You can actually eat quite a bit of food when it's healthy! A breakfast burrito at Sonic has like 550 calories for example and might not be filling enough, but for 400…
  • There you go! You'll do great. That's why it's important to measure yourself in inches around the waist, hips, etc and not just weigh yourself... you could go from a size 18 to a size 12 and weigh almost the same if you gained a lot of muscle and lost a lot of fat. That way you won't be discouraged because you know your…
  • Here's a picture to demonstrate: http://www.onemorebite-weightloss.com/images/fat-v-muscle.jpg
  • A pound of muscle and a pound of fat weigh the same, but the muscle takes up much less room. That's why if you're 150 lbs of muscle you'll look slim but if you're 150lbs of fat you'll look bigger and unfit. They say muscle weighs more because if you have the same volume (amount) of fat and of muscle, the muscle would weigh…
