Every day will present new challenges and every choice you make can be one toward success. I've done this and you can to. Set a goal, make a plan and go for it. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/msjamartin

I've made many of these recipes in all categories. Great site, great food and you don't have to tell anyone it is healthy if you don't want as they will love it.

Planning for my first 1/2 on June 23 in Seattle. Rock n roll half marathon! Nervous and Anxious..going to switch up from my normal cardio on the ellipticals to the treadmill beginning Jan. 2nd. I have a 5 mile in April that will be a good measuring event in my training. Here we go!

In my journey I started at 378 and July 2010 I was 340. Today I'm 190. I've lost 188 lbs total on this journey and have 40 to reach my goal. It is possible and you are on the right track. I didn't join MFP until I was though my first year of the journey but I have found it a huge help in my final push. Stay strong and…

Have worn Brooks for years and I've just switched to Ascis (Christmas present!!!) When I was very obese, Brooks were recommended for their support and they have the wide widths in many options. Now I don't need the wide width and Ascis has come highly recommended so I'm giving them a try as I begin to prepare for my first…

There are so many stages to colds. Usually I have a day or two that I'm useless (those are stay at home days/take sick days etc) but when I get to the point that I feel fine but simply have that left-over crud I "ignore" it and keep everything normal. I carry sanitized hand cleanser, I sanitize machines and I workout in a…

I lost over 100 lbs doing cardio twice a day and keeping my food intake in check. It is the science of burning more calories than you consume. If you don't want to work out, you have to eat fewer calories and you will lose weight. You wouldn't be toned, you won't be strong and you won't be firm but you can lose weight. IMO…

At 3 years old she should be able to play by herself for a 1/2 hour. I'm sure you are doing everything you can as a Mom, but maybe you are doing to much. She needs to learn to be independant and not cling to Mom all the time. That said, you could look into Mommy & Me classes at the YMCA or local pool. Those can be quite a…

They probably can't dance so they don't burn any calories at the club and need to have some to waste on the drinks those guys are not buying for them.

Keep it up! I have found that my big milestones never come when I want. I work on a month by month goal so in the month that I thought I would get my 1st 100 off I missed it by 1lb. I only lost 4 that whole month and every month before and after I lost over 10. Same just happend with my breaking into Onederland this last…

I would love to give it a try but the instructor at my gym is creepy and freaks me out...his class is full though so it may just be me. One of the other locations I go to is expanding and if they have more room for spin then I will give it a try there...they have different instructors that are not also creepy.

My uncle has done the deep fryer for several years. It is good but I prefer the oven baked Turkey. For sure it is quicker and if you infuse it well with seasonings it is good. Just be careful and follow the instructions to the letter.

Agree...check out skinnytaste.com. I've made several of these recipies and I don't follow weight watchers...they are simply great, healthy and delish. Many options on the site both new this year and from years past for the holidays. Also, subsitute/adjust your normal recipies as well with healthier options it makes a huge…

Well for my nuts/trail mix I buy in bulk but I'm the same way if I don't pre-portion control. I'll just start eating from the bag and then I have 1/2 or all and it isn't good. I literally take each bag and my food scale and pre-portion out the servings in little snack bags. Then I'm not as tempted to just start nibbling on…

I shop trader joes instead of whole foods. Very good prices and quality. Would like some of the fresh fruits and veggies to be set up a bit different, but overall I've found it is a great place to find really good quality food and stay in my budget. Still have to pick up a few items at a "regular" store but not much.

I usually enter the whole recipe and determine the servings based on how many containers I get for the freezer (I make a lot of crockpot recipes and freeze tons for lunches). So if I made the crockpot chicken, I woud enter the whole thing and then divide into X number of containers/servings. Put that number in the servings…

www.skinnytaste.com has a great recipe for chicken lentil soup. I've made it and it is wonderful.

Since every scale is different, I would also say to stick with your normal scale/weigh in day. Keep it consistant.

Try only 1 banana and a 1/2 cup berries...that is what I do with mine. I do 3 oz of greek yogurt but I don't do the almonds/flax seed/bee pollen

We all need to remember that the diet and exercise is only part of the battle. The battle we all have fought didn't simply start with eating too much or not being active. There are root causes to all of us getting to be so overweight. I was 378 at my highest and I got there by making bad choices, by equating my worth to my…

Take the bowl, walk around the office, hand it out and then don't bring any more. They can bring their own.

Work in a range rather than a specific number. Eat good protein filled meals and keep up with the exercise daily. I set a range between 1200-1500 with my working out and it has worked great! A range allows you to have more flexibility in the options without "missing the mark". The more you work out the closer to 1500 you…

Here is my opinion - Set yourself a calorie range rather than an exact number. So instead of 1200 set a range say between 1200-1500. Never go below and try not to go over that range. Gives you more flexibility. Also, try updating your nutrient balance to 40 carb - 30 protein - 30 Fat...the carb level on MFP is really a…

For me I retain more fluid in the week before my TOM, even if I up my water intake. Before starting my get healthy journey I would easily gain at least 5 every month and lose it by the time it is over. Now, I've noticed that I generally hold to the same weight before and have my "best" weightloss for the month when I weigh…

www.skinnytaste.com has peanut butter banana muffins that are great as well as many many other muffin/cupcake options that are healthy and low in calories. Just made several recipes for lunches and breakfasts and all are winners.

I agree with the poster on portions. That is this countries #1 problem. We eat too much of everything. Take small servings and enjoy a little of each item that you like and don't have seconds. Eat a decent meal, in good proportions and enjoy the day. Relax and be with family. Oh and ask if you can bring a veggie tray for…

Even between different types of ellipticals I burn at different rates. I also think sometime the machines need to be calibrated/refreshed/update. There is one machine at my gym that I vary in calories burned between two exactly the same models (my settings are exactly the same, heartrate stays the same but the machines are…

use low sodium tomato puree/sauce and it will be even healthier.

I've always gained/retained. In recent months, I've noticed that I don't lose much during the month before and my weigh in after is usually my biggest drop. I expect that I'm losing real weight all along but I stay even instead of my previous gain.

This time of year I love to make soups and chilies in the crockpot. Easy to add all types of veggies into these and fairly simple to make. If you have more than you need for one meal, freeze it up in indiviual servings for lunches.
