This link seems to give a very good summary of the whole good sugar bad sugar issues: http://www.reducetriglycerides.com/diet_triglycerides_sugar.htm Bottom line seems to be that you should limit your consumption of fruit and eat more vegetables.

according to the USDA if the fish was raw when you weighed them the values should be Cals:976, Protein:168, Fat:28.37 which is a bit better

OK I didn't want to start making excuses one day in so I've pushed through the pain (and the hangover) and completed level 1 day 2. Feel better for it and already felt a small improvement in my abilities. Still have most trouble doing he front stretch with legs apart during the cool down, my back is sooo inflexible.…

I actually started this yesterday, now I'm sat here with every muscle in my legs arms and chest suffering. I guess it's working but I'm not sure I can face it again today. Are you really meant to do this every day with no rest/recovery days?

Think I may have just answered my own question with a google search. i found the answer given really interesting and it explained a lot of how this whole diet/exercise thing works, I'm goiing to post this other persons response here to see if anyone here has any counter argument or information: Fats are absorbed from your…

I get the impression people aren't keen on multigyms. What would you recommend as the best minimum set of strength equipment to have at home. I'm now within 10lbs of goal and feel i should be switching from cardio to strength to start working on my flabby abs and arms. The power cage is interesting but I wouldn't have a…

Does no one have experience of home multigyms? I was looking at the York Equipment G101 from Argos but not sure if it would be worth it or if I should just stay with the gym. Benefit of the home gym would be my teenage boys might use it and they could do with some muscle building. Probably can only spend around £200 so not…

I bought the FT7 as it said you could link it to the website, that was all the difference I spotted but I then realised you needed another piece of equipment for an extra £40 to actually make the connection to the website. Thus I'm really uncertain what the benefit of the FT7 unaltered over the FT4 is, as far as I can tell…

I used my BMI and the Goldilocks principal, if 25 BMI is too Fat and 18 BMI is too Thin then 21.5 BMI must be just right, which for me at 5' 8" is 141 lbs. When I get there I'll see how it feels and reassess at that point.

My weight gain had been slow and steady so I had convinced myself that my diet was close enough to maintenance and I didn't really need to worry, but it wasn't right. My son's are now both getting to 6 feet and over and are very skinny and I suddenly began to feel short and dumpy which i hadn't done before. The day after I…

I like the idea of those experience gifts after all the one thing all kids want but will probably never think to ask for is Your Time.

You can't go wrong with Lego. Add in a digital camera and teach him how to make his own stop-motion animations. My son had hours of fun doing this, with pretty impressive results (of course you do need a computer to edit the movies as well).

Just a small suggestion that's probably irrelevant, but if you used to be losing weight and aren't anymore it may be that you haven't recalibrated your HRM to your new weight. I suddenly realised that I had made this mistake myself the other day. I set my HRM with my weight when I got it and never went back to the settings…

I also like traditional names, my boys are David and Sam. not that I'm religious or anything. Interestingly I think they are pretty much the only David and Sam in the school. Fiona was a very common name when I was young (in Scotland), in my own group of friends there were about six of them. I did nearly call my son…

I love my diet coke, though can't keep it in the house for long with two teenage boys drinking it. I do get caffeine free coke, but that's not because of the diuretic problems, more as I have a high heart rate and it doesn't help and my son can't sleep if he has any caffeine.

Yes thats right

In my case I bought an HRM and have used it for some of my exercises, just to see if I'm using as much calories as MFP states, and have found that the information in MFP tallys pretty well with the information my HRM is giving out. Thus now I usually just put in the exercise type and time in MFP and I'm happy to accept the…

and the ones who say loose when they mean lose :)

I've been on depo for several years now and had a mirena coil for 10 years before that and my weight slowly climbed. However since I've started logging what I eat and exercising a bit more and sticking to my net calories as recommended by MFP I have lost weight nearly exactly as predicted actually a little faster ( 1.3 lb…

I've never been able to diet before, never really started. But the day a friend introduced me to MFP it sucked me in. I'm a Data Analyst by profession, so it speaks to something deep within me. I love data and analysing data and this App feeds me all the data I need to make the right choices. I use the defaults for…

I use Abvios Walkmeter to track and map my walks. It helps to gauge your pace so you can choose the appropriate walk speed in MFP. The calories it says I'm using per walk are in the same ball park as what MFP calculates.

The vitamins in most fruit is overrated, most only have Vit C and you can get all the body needs in a day from one fifth of a red pepper. Fruit has evolved to be attractive to animals as a way for plants distributing their seeds. They are all about advertising, a bright colour and bit of sugar to sweeten the deal, but…

I've tried a couple of times to get in to running. Starting simple and running a short distance then walking then running again, just as I see C25k recommends unfortunately both times I've tried I've ended up injured. First time pulling the muscles in my inner knee which left me crippled for over a month. And this last…

I found my HRM tends to give slightly higher values than the MFP basic, but figure I should take off 75 cals per hour from the HRM measure as that is what I would have used if I'd sat on my bottom instead. Usually for me the MFP and the HRM agree well enough that if I don't use the HRM I'm happy to take the MFP figure. The…

I would think wearing an HRM might actually act as an added incentive to being more adventurous and athletic so your partner is unlikely to complain :)

The way I look at it is sugar is sugar, however there is a difference between intrinsic sugar and extrinsic sugar (as defined by the WHO). Intrinsic sugar is that sugar which is bound up into the fibre of the fruit/vegetable and thus for your body to access the sugar it has to first digest it's way through the fibre which…

I got it for Xmas and performed the 9 week challenge for 5 weeks. I had to stop as I sprained my ankle doing all the side lunges. Problem was doing it in bare feet rather than using trainers. As I was incorporating the wii fit board I needed bare feet for those exercises. Any way you live and learn. I had a few proble ms…

Thanks Rice cakes do look like a good option for an end of the day filler. I actually quite like eating them plain so I'll make sure I have a packet or two in the cupboard. Might consider marmite on them but that tends to be too salty.

Baby Mine song in Dumbo and the Valse Triste from Allegro Non Troppo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8Oc_J1Lu-o) I dare any of you to watch it and not cry.

I ordered an FT7 the other day from amazon, should arrive tomorrow. Just noticed however it is an FT7M which I guess means it's the male version, as far as I can tell the only difference between FT7F and FT7M is the F has a gold stripe and the M a silver one. Anyone know if there is any more fundamental difference that…
