I find that as I lose I hit awkward stages, and these sometimes make me question whether I will look any better when I hit goal. But I am concentrating more on fitness goals and feeling healthier/stronger/better. THAT is worth it to me, even if I don't look like a model when I lose 20ish more pounds.

It is ok to put yourself first sometimes. Really. And a dirty house or eating out once in a while never killed anyone.

I recommend the book Beck Diet Solution. It helped me change my relationship with food. I still struggle some, but it has gotten better.

This. I finally started doing some resistance training, and no longer look quite so pear shaped. I am actually liking how my shoulders look for the first time in my life!

I think that was about the point where I slowed down. There is no shame in slowing down--might make it easier for you to push through rather than repeat.

I have never done a tri, I am in more for responses as I am thinking of working up to one next year. But, have you considered safety pins? They seem to solve a multitude of wardrobe malfunctions, and wouldn't be affected by the swim.

Oh, sorry, missed the other questions-- Currently I ride one to two times per week, one of those a lesson I do a body pump class (with barbells/weights) once a week Run whenever I can fit it in--usually twice a week, but I hope to up it to three starting in June (scheduling issues) Eating--IIFYM; goal is 1 lb per week, but…

Yeah!! So glad you are still at it! We had crap weather this weekend so I didn't run in the 5k I signed up for, but I ran for 31 minutes straight on the treadmill, took a little break and ran some more! Honestly, if I can do this, anybody can. I totally agree with Varda that it is almost miraculous how you are ready for…

Short term: Compete in a horse show Run a 5k Start and complete 5 to 10k running program Continue weight loss--hopefully make goal this year (20 more pounds) Long term: Compete in show jumping--3' plus fences Run a half marathon Increase strength and stamina

So I wimped out and didn't run in the 5k I signed up for Saturday because it was cold and rainy. But I ran a virtual 5k at the gym on the treadmill in 44 minutes!! My goal was to be under 45. I ran 2.75 miles which is the furthest I've gone. I posted in the graduation thread but plan to stick around here for a bit. Trying…

Lol, this is the most awesome bump I have ever seen. Can't wait to try the recipe---yum!

I guess I have finally graduated--I have been hesitant to post an announcement here, too. I started the program way back on December 8. I have missed some runs, struggled to get three in a week, etc. But I have kept running, very very slowly. I was signed up to do a 5k with my family on Saturday, but had to cancel due to…

Good for you! You will be amazed at what you can accomplish in 10 weeks! I am doing things I never dreamed possible--I am learning to jump (on horseback), running (which I couldn't even do 20 lbs and 20 years ago), lifting weights. I am stronger and fitter than I have been in years (maybe ever), and I am just getting…

Well, I would hope that if refills are no longer free they will stop charging $2 for a coke, but that is probably a pipe dream on my part. The free refill schtick helps restaurants justify ridiculous mark-ups on sodas.

According to your second source, 17% for a woman is just fine, unless the OP is over 50, which I seriously doubt.

So glad you are hanging in there! I repeated several days, had weeks where I didn't get three (sometimes not even two in), etc. And I listened to my body and took as many rest days as I needed (especially before I realized my achy knees were bad shoes rather than old age!) But I have done a 30 minute run! I don't consider…

Thank you for sharing--you are inspiring. :flowerforyou:

Set exercise goals and focus on them. Concentrate on why you want to lose and how great it will fell. I am in a slump, too, and looking back I seem to hit one every three months or so, so I am taking a maintenance break for a couple weeks.
-
That is so true and so hysterical. Thanks for posting it!! Somebody should make it into a tshirt.
-
My mental response to your pics was "holy c*rap!" Your progress is awesome! Having a down day, so thanks for posting your story.

I totally agree! My DH was on a "plateau" because he had his goal set too low. So he would hit it a few days, go way over b/c he was really hungry other days, and just couldn't get consistent. I told him to up it and be more consistent, and I think it worked. If your goal isn't realistic (too aggressive a deficit), you are…

I love this!

Last night: I was having a pity party and face planted into birthday cake flavored ice cream. 500+ calories, straight from the carton. On the plus side, I weighed it, logged it, and only went 30 calories over. The negative side--I have only lost 0.2 lbs in the last two weeks, which is pitiful.

So, so much this. How can this not be throwing you out of whack? Plan B is just birth control pills--it acts the same way to prevent ovulation. Please let this be a troll. Please.

I am no help with the heart rate thing, but I just want to say that I couldn't even do 10 min on the elliptical when I started. And I think you are on the right track--the elliptical is easier on your joints starting out, while you are losing. I can now run on the treadmill for 30 minutes and do the elliptical for longer…

Great job, Sara! You are amazing, and inspire me to keep going.
-
You can do it! I probably hold the record for taking the longest to complete it--I started at the beginning of December and just did my 30 minute run last week!! And I run so slow. But I'm running, which I never ever thought I could do, and it is a great workout.

So should we be setting some new goals? edited because I can't seem to figure out this quote thing...

I truly, truly hate you for informing me of its existence. I was just mourning the lack of the flake mcflurry here in the states. I may have to road trip to Canada this month--and I live in Georgia.

Ooops, just saw you already posted your routine! How often do you increase the weights? I figure I will hold steady until I make it all the way through a class without failures--currently I still can't get all my reps in with the tiny weights I'm using.
