So if you aren't willing to try any other exercise, what exactly is the point of your post? Trolling?

My highest weight was 230. I started exercising at around 214 or so. I signed up for a 5k walk and followed a 3-4 day a week walking regimen. Now I don't have a routine, exactly, but I have been going to horseback riding lessons every other week and trying to hit the elliptical or treadmill for 2-3 other days. Notice I say…

Why don't you try some youtube workouts in your living room until the treadmill arrives? You might find something you like.

I am not so worried about the day itself, but I am hosting family for almost a week during the holiday. I think for me I will eat what I want, try to keep portions reasonable, and hit the gym after. I will not track that day, but I am going to try to track the rest of that week, even when we are going out to eat and have…

2. The wrist test tells you how big your bone frame is (coupled with many other measurements of course) Measuring your wrist with a tape measure will tell you what your frame size is. Using your finger is meaningless, since they are probably proportional to your size. My fingers overlap, but my wrists are so big I can't…

I was put on it while pregnant. I had gestational diabetes, and it made by blood sugar levels go crazy, so I would think it would affect weight as well. Just keep on keepin on, and realize that your WIs while on it have an *

I would like to join and hope it is ok that I am only going for 20. Last month I only logged 7 :blushing: and for September 17 mi; so it would be an improvement! (And ftr, walking/elliptical isn't the only exercise I do). Thanks!

I have almost the same stats and goals as you--5'7", currently 198. My right now goal is 160, but I hope to revise that lower when I get there. I have been battling weight for a long time, and have lost 32 lbs total. For workouts, I do elliptical, horseback riding, and yoga, although I am looking to add some weightlifting.…

Fantastic post! I kind of "knew" this already from my daily WIs, but I love seeing it in black and white.

Thank you for posting. You give me hope, as my starting stats are similar to yours. I am around halfway to my goal (I haven't set a firm number yet). Keep going--I can't wait to read your post when you reach goal!!

I highly recommend that you see a nutritionist. I was put on a carb restrictive diet due to gestational diabetes, and I only gained 17 lbs for my pregnancy. Which is the healthy range for an obese mother. I weighed 5 lbs less when I left the hospital than I did when I got pregnant.

Nope, no difference. Pretty sure that the medical studies back that up, too (with the exception of Depo-Provera).

If it's not too late, I want in too. My goal is more modest than some--9 lbs. But I think that is realistic for me (1 lb per week) considering Halloween and Thanksgiving in there.

I second the talk to a dr or counselor advice. I also recommend the book Beck Diet Solution--it isn't really a diet, it is a way to change your thinking. I am an emotional eater, and it has helped me deal with all of those negative emotions. It is a spiral--eat because you are stressed, depressed, etc., gain weight from…

Congrats! I just got there myself recently, and I never want to see 2xx on the scale again!!

Thank you for sharing--I related to so many parts of your post. I too am avoiding a set goal, and the part about exercising 6 days a week is so true. I just realized this week that I need to make exercise every day a habit, even if it is only a little walk.

For two months post-partum, you are doing really well. Your stomach stretched over a course of 9 mos, it is going to snap back like a rubber band. Eat healthy (particularly if you are nursing), ease back into exercise (with your doctor's approval), and don't expect too much too soon.
-
Mine is also open to friends--I am brutally honest. And about as far from a clean eater as you can get (so you are forewarned)!
-
If you aren't seeking help from a counselor or support group (or maybe even if you are), I highly recommend the Beck Diet Solution book. Despite the name, it isn't a diet, it is cognitive behavioral therapy (changing the way you think) geared toward food. I am an emotional eater, and it has helped me immensely. You can…

Bravo. I need to send this to my hubs, whose coworkers were reading Wheat Belly.

I have done WW online (off and on) for the past 5 yrs, somewhat successfully (30 lbs lost, with two pregnancies during that time period). I am considering switching over to MFP only for cost--online is $18/mo. I find WW tracking easier, b/c I don't have to track fruits and veg. And WW new points plus seems to be really…
