  • Yep, dark beer and oatmeal really help. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids. If your period has returned, the hormones can cause a drop in supply, too.
  • Hey where is everybody? I finally caught up--enjoyed sun salutations so much I did the extra stretching after my long run yesterday. And I'm pretty sure y'all are going to kill me with the planks, but I managed 40 seconds. Not sure my form was all that good though. Helped not to watch my stopwatch the whole time. Headed…
  • Good morning! Greatly enjoyed the sun salutations this morning. My dog tried to help, which meant he was in my face for all the floor work until he flopped over on top of my hand. Didn't realize how stiff I was from running yesterday--need to stretch more!
  • Thanks for all the advice, y'all are great! I ran 3.1 this morning (we won't mention time) outside rather than the treadmill--soo much nicer! And had a fantastic NSV--there is a monster hill in my neighborhood that I have never been able to run, always have to drop back to a walk near the top no matter how fast or slow I…
  • This. I struggled off and on the fitness train for years, until I finally picked a couple goals and started working towards them. Once I started making measurable progress, it kept me motivated. I lose steam fast if I am just doing random cardio videos or pushup challenges or whatever.
  • Isn't it an awesome feeling when you don't let something unexpected derail you?! And Michelle, I can' wait until I can just do a 6 mile run, way to go for doing cardio fix too!
  • That's what she said (I have the maturity of a 10 year old). I managed 20 on my knees (barely). Was too sore to do the full ones probably from planking--at least that's my excuse. Been enjoying the mantra so far today--mine is "take pride in how far you have come and have faith in how far you can go." Planning for sun…
  • Your over sleeping is my getting up early. Way to go! And good job, Muery! Need to walk my dog more often. I'm so proud that I got up and ran 3.1 miles this morning. Actually went outside and was much more enjoyable than the treadmill. But my knuckle light was dead so it was a little dodgy not seeing the footing in a few…
  • So today was my one chance to sleep in, and one of my kids woke me at 6 to clean up an accident. Yucky start to the day. Looking forward to push ups until I drop tonight. If I'm not totally exhausted will do a light elliptical and the 10-15 minutes of stretching. Don't want to overdo though since I'm planning an early…
  • Ok all of you are very impressive! I only managed 30 seconds and was shaking the entire time. I clearly need to do planks more often! I had to push my walk from lunch to dinner--wasn't a long one, but better than sitting which is what I normally would've done. Will do the push-ups tonight, and hopefully have time for some…
  • Ditto, I can't imagine having the energy to run during pregnancy. And you will do great, FireStorm, those race day endorphins will kick in. I bet you surprise yourself. Ceci, I've been looking at a glow run, too, they sound fun! I can't do a color run (the powder would aggravate my asthma), so I might give one a whirl as I…
  • Oh, good luck with the surgery! One of the trainers I used to ride with had a double knee replacement and she is back in the saddle and thrilled she had it done. I will send you a friend request so I see when you post!
  • Wow, y'all are doing great. I can't imagine getting up at 4 am, that's fantastic! I got up at 5 (which is a struggle for me) and ran three miles on the treadmill (well, ran/walked). I just saw the challenges, so I'm going to catch up on those today and tomorrow--luckily I had already laid my clothes out last night. And it…
  • As usual I am a day (or 3) late and a dollar short. But I did lay my workout clothes out last night, and I did my run this morning! Yay! I will also do the walk at lunch and a plank tonight to catch up. Great ideas, Amee!
  • Tilapia or shrimp--high protein, low cal. I keep both in the freezer, so quick thaw in cold water. Add some broccoli or green beans and done.
  • No time to read the whole thread, and missed the earlier one. But my two cents--I will always want to eat to excess. I still have a desire to face plant into something high calorie, particularly on bad or stressful days. But when I actually go to do it, I don't. Oh sure, I go over my calories (sometimes way over). But then…
  • I love the pineapple coconut flavored with a shot of pineapple flavored rum--yummy.
  • Hi! I am not officially starting morning workouts until next week, but thought I'd stop in and say hi anyway. I forced myself to run on the treadmill last night; it was brutal but I managed it. Planning to run again this weekend (in the morning!) and hopefully ride my horse if the weather will cooperate. WTG Amee,…
  • I'm up for a challenge, but I don't work out every day. I like the idea of a to-do list! I am restarting bridge to 10K, so I will be doing 3 runs a week (in the am), and horseback riding 1-2 days a week in the afternoons. I guess I could add strength training and walking if every day is a must, but those will most likely…
  • You might want to check out the website for the beck diet solution. It really isn't a diet--she is a cognitive behavioral therapist. There are some really good (and free) tips on the site about how to change your reactions to triggers. It has helped me a lot, but I think that I will always struggle with emotional eating.…
  • Ok, so I am just starting to get serious about training (my half is in September), so I was wondering what plans y'all are using? I have been starting and stopping and restarting the bridge to 10K for what feels like forever, I think I have a mental block at this point on going further. I creeped the Hal Higdon beginner…
  • That is so me right now! I have done a couple 5ks, and keep starting and stopping the bridge to 10k to increase distance. I only manage to run one or two times a week, and am making super lame excuses for not going out more.
  • Hi, I'm Heather, and I hate morning workouts. Despise. Why am I here? Because after weeks and weeks of excuses, I have to accept the reality that afternoon workouts don't fit my schedule any more, and if I actually want to run a half marathon in September (my first!), I have got to find a way to fit my runs in. I am 39,…
  • I don't have a lot to add to the relationship or AA advice, but I just wanted to say--being a lawyer sucks sometimes. It is hard, other lawyers make it harder, and unfortunately getting a raw deal at work isn't unheard of. Often you will feel like you aren't good enough, beat yourself up over what you could have done…
  • All of the advice you have gotten is solid. I just want to say--you feel silly? Would you feel silly using a cane if you had something wrong with your leg? Asthma has zero to do with how "fit and healthy" you are.
  • Yep. And if I was eating the apple instead of the Oreos I was craving, I'm likely to then eat the Oreos too. Which is how I got fat. OP, the free fruits and veggies thing didn't work for me, my husband, and a lot of folks who were previously successful with WW. However, the suggestion above for allotting a set amount of…
  • I am not able to cook during the week due to work too. So I plan out a couple meals to cook on the weekends, then nuke leftovers during the week to feed me and the kids. Bonus points if you can "repurpose" leftovers into something new: chicken breasts one night, chicken tacos or chicken salad another, etc. Just takes a…
  • I'm in! (Which you probably already knew, but I'm bumping in hopes others will join in).
  • Do I? Yes. On my birthday, on my coworkers' birthdays, my sons' birthdays, my husband's birthday, and sometimes just cause I feel like it. If you like cake, make it fit in your day. If you don't like cake, have something else you enjoy.
  • Ditto on the genetics thing. I actually read these threads periodically and have yet to find anyone whose calves are bigger than mine--17". After 60+ lbs, I think I lost a quarter inch. What really sucks is finding riding boots to fit (I usually am able to find fashion boots without too much trouble).
