Oh thank you so much for sharing that. That video is absolutely beautiful!

I love this thread so much. Pardon me for interrupting, but my main sport isn't on here yet...

I'm not sure exactly when, but I agree with the PP about setting a goal. If I don't have a goal and see measurable progress toward it (i.e. run farther and/or faster than last time, able to jump higher with my horse, etc.) then exercise seems pointless drudgery to me. I also agree that it was probably about 3 mos of…

ITA with this. I started and stopped working out a million times, before I finally set a goal--do the Couch 2 5K. Once I started seeing progress, that was an additional reward beyond progressing to my goal. I was raised on a farm, and you didn't waste energy on pointless tasks because you never knew when you were going to…

I should feel ashamed for posting this, but I am not. My DH and I have looked forward to this splurge all week long. Bacon wrapped pizza...

You are looking fantastic!! Way to go!!! We will both get to those 150's, no worries.
-
Great job! Did you use a specific training program? If not, do you mind sharing what your workout regimen is?

It doesn't sound to me like you are lazy, it sounds like you are clinically depressed. Have you thought of going to counseling and possibly taking anti-depressants? Not sure if that is possible with your neurological condition, but I would think counseling could help you regain the feeling of control over your life, at the…

I could have written your post a couple years ago. I lost 30 pounds, gained 15 back, yo-yo'd for a while, and gave up (had two babies in that time frame, so it was a while). Happy to say that I recommitted, lost the 15 plus 35 more. About 10 pounds from goal now. I did it, and so can you! Recommit, take it a step at a…

Welcome! Yes, we've been a little slow lately. I don't have any experience dealing with knee issues, so not much help there. Hope you are recovering well. I grew up riding walking horses, then quit for seven years due to kids/work/money/weight gain. I decided to start taking lessons again after losing some weight, and here…

Almost 65 pounds gone, super slow but steady. Went from a size 18 to a size 8/10. Have changed my eating and exercising habits and don't ever want to go back. Still 5-10 pounds to lose, but taking my sweet time about it as I am more focused on health goals now.

Way to go--doing all that, and on maternity leave? You definitely "won," no matter what!

I came to the realization that, by having "treats" every day, I no longer really enjoyed them. They were no longer special. So I decided that I would stick to my diet, work in treats as I could, and when I couldn't, realize that not having dessert one night would help it to really seem special when I could spare the…

Shakes are definitely shocking, especially the good ones. And I still can't fathom how Cheesecake Factory fits so many calories in such a small slice of cheesecake. It defies the laws of nature.

I am wearing size 8 jeans today!!! I have not fit into single digits since high school (22 years ago!) Down from size 18 at my highest.

That is so awesome! I was just despairing as I have lost momentum (yet again) due to weather and a cold. I still want to do a half, so it is nice to see someone who has accomplished it. Do you plan to do another? Or a full?

Ditto walking, as that gets easier, add jogging, stair climbing. I also use the You are Your Own Gym app and really like it.
-
Congrats! I still remember how thrilled I was to hit that milestone, too.

Mine is 7 lbs more than my actual weight!! I guess I will change it next time I renew (and it will hopefully be even lower than now).

FWIW, I used the Army Body Fat Calculator and got dunked, and they both were within 0.5% of each other. I know that sometimes the Army formula is wrong, but I think it is probably fairly accurate for the vast majority of people, and seems pretty easy to be consistent in your measuring.

I don't really have an answer for you, but this happens to me, too. I get a terrible abdominal cramp that actually feels like I am in labor. I suspect I might be lacking in magnesium, so I may try to up that and see.

Don't diet. Change your life. If that sounds scary, realize you can do it in little steps. Today's baby step is a good one--keep it up until it becomes a habit. Then try another habit. I can't cut out foods--the minute I tell myself I can't have something, I want it. You don't have to cut out foods. You can eat jelly…

Way to go! I was so excited to get out of the obese category--it is a fantastic feeling. Sounds like you are on-track for long term success.

I have asthma. I have run/walked two 5ks and aiming to do a half marathon this year. My tips--make sure you have a rescue inhaler. Use it prior to working out at first, it really does help with the feeling of an elephant sitting on your chest. Do a progressive walking routine prior to c25k. I found one at kaiser…

Oatmeal and one dark beer (at night, when it had time to get out of my seystem before the next feeding) helped a bunch. Definitely stay hydrated. I also took a hit right before my period came back; not sure if yours has or not but that can affect it, too.

Way to go! I knew you were rocking it from my news feeds, but nice to see the visual! And you totally have me beat on pushups--last try I could only do 20.

Hi! I'm Heather, 39, and been running off and on for a year (but more off than on). I've only done two 5Ks, but decided to commit to running the Diva Half in September this year (the day after my 40th birthday). I talked my hubby into trying couch to 5k, and he has blown past me and runs regularly--just did his first 15k…

I am still a newbie, but I horseback ride twice a week for cross training. Well, actually that is my first love, so maybe the running is my cross training. I also try to fit yoga in, but I am admittedly not consistent with it.

Isn't there a minimum age limit on this site?
-
Way to go! I haven't yet been able to run a 5K without stopping. I'm planning for a March 10K and a September half (which is probably a little ambitious, but that's also my 40th birthday!) Add me if you are looking for more running friends!
