  • It's very sweet of you to want to provide vegetarian options. You've gotten some great ideas. I love grilled portabellos (on or off a bun); veggie kabobs (Trader Joe's even sells these on the sticks); veggie hot dogs (Smart Dogs are my favorite) on buns; even just a grilled Griller or Boca Burger (veggie burger). Ooh, and…
  • I'm in a similar boat. I'm 5'0 (almost, anyway) and I'm bouncing between 132-134. It's been driving me nuts, but I've also been measuring and I've lost inches (2 off thighs, 1 off hips, 1.5 off waist and .5 off arms). I'm burning between 200-350 just about daily (sometimes, sometimes less) with a workout dvd or…
  • I love all sorts of salads... the most important part is planning because no one wants shredded ice burg for lunch! One simple salad is arugula with grated parmesan (I use soy) cheese and a little drizzle of olive oil. Delicious! Another mix I like is mixed greens with mandarin oranges, cucumber, chick peas, and black…
  • Most of these are pretty big dogs... I'll represent for the smaller size. Starbuck is a three year old crazy, fun loving, spoiled pembroke welsh corgi. She's a rock star, for sure, who loves to play with her ferrets and sport tutus and dresses on long walks around the neighborhood. And, no, she's not named after coffee.…
  • Zucchini, squash, tomato (and mix those together with a quick vinaigrette= yummy), cucumber, bell peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, green beans... lots. I like a lot of veggies to snack on with hummus.
  • The shake weight really tones your arms. I know it's hard to believe, but the 6 minute workout (yes, it's really 10) is really awesome, and you do feel the burn. It's a quick mini-workout to start the day or pair it with a morning run.
  • One of the things I've learned throughout my 17 years as a vegetarian (13 of those vegan) is that I don't have to explain myself or my choices to anyone. Frankly, you don't understand my veganism any more than I understand your eating dead animals. And there isn't common ground for some. Your extreme aversion to tofu…
  • I know nuts shouldn't be considered a protein source because of their high calorie and fat content, but peanut butter and apple slices have saved the day several times! I find the combination incredibly filling and tasty too. It makes a great pick me up snack or after workout snack. Also, I'm vegan and I snack on Smartdog…
  • I use a plant-based (no soy) protein shake with almond milk. Admittedly, it took a week or so to get used to the taste, but now it really hits the spot.
  • Had to comment because I love your use of "deleted!" You can definitely see all your hard work has paid off in the photos! Congrats!
  • It seems I'm too short to have a twin, but if you're out there, add me! Age: 25 5'0 (okaay, 4'11) SW: 137 CW: 132 GW: 115-120 I'm a newlywed with three fur-kids, and I work full time.
  • As first, I was also really confused/frustrated by this, but, as has been stated, you're burning more calories in the "fitness zone." I ignore this, quite honestly-- which is disappointing because I thought it would be a cool feature.
  • I'm vegan, too. It's nice to see others :) I've been for about 13 years and was vegetarian for four years before that. ...I was a young vegetarian.

  • I became vegetarian when I was 8 years old because I loved animals. My dad and brother were vegetarian, but my mother ate animals, so I was exposed to both lifestyles. I chose vegetarianism once I really understood what I was eating and was able to ignore my mother's pressure to eat animals. When I was 12, I became vegan.…
  • Brazil Butt Lift (the DVD workouts) :) Yes, squats, lunges, thigh work with the resistance band...
  • I've been vegan for 13 years and was vegetarian for four years before that. I have to say, I get rather frustrated when folks claim "Well, I'm almost vegetarian," or "I'm vegetarian, but I eat fish and chicken every once in a while.' ...that means you're an omnivore who prefers vegetables to meat. That said, my husband is…
  • I'm right there with you-- I'd just like to be a smaller pear!
  • I'm in a similar boat. I have to admit, I do appease the uterus. If she's unhappy, we all are. I still end up within my calories, though-- just perhaps not with the best food choices. Remember, it's just a couple days, then things go back to normal.
  • I do sweat quite a lot with Bum Bum, and I'm surprised that they burn pretty similar calories (according to my HRM)-- Cardio Axe does burn a little more, though. I think once you get the hang of Cardio Axe, it really is more cardio, but you have to give yourself a chance to learn the combos. Keep it up and feel the bum bum…
  • There are lots of vegan breakfast foods! Try fruit and soy yogurt; bagel thin and peanut butter; toast with fruit; tofu scramble; homemade pancakes; homemade muffins; cereal; oatmeal... there are tons of options!

  • I use a protein powder, and it gets me almost halfway to my goal. Then I throw in tofu, crumbles, meatlessballs, tofurkey, or soy milk... any number of things. I would really look into a protein powder, though.
  • Happy to help :)
  • MFP calculates your calories with a 500 calorie deficit already in place-- so 1200 is the minimum you should eat and already includes a deficit. When you exercise, you're burning those calories and can "eat them back" to ensure that you net 1200.
  • If you are logging exercise, the site will say, "You've earned X calories from exercising, " or something similar, and it adds that total to your base allowance. That causes a daily fluctuation.
  • I'm in northern Virginia.
  • I'm a long-time vegan (13 years) and was vegetarian for 4 years before... I'm 25. I do a mix of all natural fruits and veggies and tofu and "meat substitutes" for protein. I also drink a protein shake on exercise days (or if I'm just low protein). I love Morning Star Crumbles and Chicken Strips for taco salad and ranch…
  • Tofu scramble with spinach, mushrooms and garlic is my absolute fave. I also make peanut butter banana pancakes... but they aren't low cal... just highly yummy. I have to be honest, I'm not much of a breakfast fan- I grab a banana and call it done.
  • I'm doing it, too. It's pretty fun, and I've lost a few inches since starting. Feel free to add me :)
  • How was everyone's weekend? Which workouts did you guys do? I did High and Tight and Cardio Axe and then Sculpt. I just don't like Sculpt, but High and Tight has grown on me. Thank god for the timers in the corner of the screen-- it motivates me to follow through and complete each move. It's Sculpt again today. Joy.

  • My favorite tofu recipe is manicotti made with firm tofu, spinach and Parmesan cheese. It's delicious! I also stir fry tofu, bake crispy tofu, and yes, I use tofu in desserts. Ooh, it's also great in soup-- non-chicken stock; spinach, cubed extra firm tofu, soy sauce and sesame oil= heaven! You can add other veggies, too.
