  • I quit smoking 4 years ago and have lost weight (about 115-120 pounds). Smoking was holding me back from losing weight because I didn't see the point in exercising or getting healthy when I was doing something so unhealthy. It's possible, you just have to get your mind right and not expect to always be perfect. I have…
  • I'm new to this group so this is my first time posting but I've been doing SL for a while. Just got done with my workout - Squats -- 5x5 @ 130 OHP -- 3x5 @ 45, 1X5 @ 50 1X3 @ 45 -- I struggle with OHP....not making much progress on upper body for some reason. Deadlift -- 2X5 @ 135. Did one set and then did a second to show…
  • I do this too sometimes and I think it's because the weights are too heavy. If I struggle and lift my hips I take a longer rest, and try to concentrate on my form. If you don't want to lower your weight maybe just do 2 or 3 reps in the last sets until you build up that strength. I am stubborn though, and always try to push…
  • I gave up smoking and got serious about getting healthy 2 years ago (september 2010). I read a book called the Easy Way to Stop Smoking. • Don't get discouraged - remember that you are doing this for yourself and it is a process that takes time! No one noticed mine or my husby's weight loss until we lost 40 pounds.
  • This book worked for me too. It helps cut through all the bull**** that we tell ourselves...I thought I enjoyed smoking too but really, that was just the addiction talking.
  • love her blog too!
  • I'm working on some of those issues as well and I'm reading some Geneen Roth books about compulsive eating. Worth checking out if you haven't already : )
  • I read in a magazine that your metabolism is higher during your period and you may be burning extra calories because of it. I am hungry all the time during my period but I try to eat healthy foods and reap the benefits of having a higher metabolism for those days. :)
  • I only drink on one or two nights a week. You need to make changes that you can live with and that is what happens to work for me. I've lost 100 pounds over the past 1 1/2 years - it's been slow progress but I feel like I've found a balanced lifestyle I can maintain for the rest of my life.
  • I've lost 100 pounds over the course of almost 2 years and I'm still losing...and I don't have any noticeable saggy skin. Here are my tips - lose the weight slowly, strength train and drink plenty of water. You're so young your skin will tighten up after losing weight. I used to worry about saggy skin but not any more,…
