Been LCHF since May of 2012... haven't looked back, and I'm in it for life! Add me if you like. :) As for the no chocolate or sugar... there are plenty of ways to make low-carb substitutes for sweet things that'll satisfy your cravings using healthy ingredients. Just gotta be a little adventurous in the kitchen. ;)

If you're cutting out the 'bad' carbs, don't cut out on fats as much. I stopped eating refined carbs last May and it has only done well for me, but I still eat plenty of beef and pork and other sources of healthy fats, like cheese. Eating low fat while doing low carb can be really bad for your body because your body has…

More of a problem than a bug: There doesn't seem to be any way to turn off the "Diet with friends and lose up to 3x more" notice in the news feed. I tried "Maybe later" but there's no way to get rid of it completely. I've already added all my friends from FB and contacts; I don't need this anymore. :D

Love the improved design and slide-out tray menu on the left. That's a huge improvement over the last UI. The new blue is more in-tune with the site's blue, and the flat UI design looks better than the beveled one. I also love that I can turn off the 'complete day' option as I never use that feature. I've received some…

I cut carbs a year ago and here's what happened: - Lost over 100lbs and counting - Blood pressure is great (110 / 73) - Bloodwork and cholesterol are perfect - Asthma went away after 20 years (though the weight loss is likely what caused that) - Have more energy, and I require less sleep - No longer hungry 24/7 - No more…

I've been living a keto lifestyle for a year now, and I'll never go back to carbs. You can still have some fruit in moderation, as long as you stay under your carb limits. I've never experienced any of the lethargy and fuzzy head stuff people talk about; I think it's just a matter of getting the right nutrients (and…

I've been doing low carb for a year now, and I've found that whenever I'm craving something carby, I just make the low-carb equivalent of it. You can adapt just about anything to low-carb, from pizzas to desserts. It requires a little more legwork than just picking up the phone and ordering in, of course, but I've found…

Let's go Habs!

Nope, no invite here. :(

Way to go, fellow canuck. Incredible transformation. Forget what those people said-- you look great!

I played throughout the entire beta content over the weekend, and thought it was pretty decent. Gameplay mechanics were fun, graphics are good enough even with the textures being kinda low-res, but that's expected with multi-platform games, not to mention MMOs. It's refreshing to see a non-fantasy setting in an MMO these…

If you can find it, Zevia are stevia-based sodas. They have a bunch of types. I've found them at Whole Foods; they're quite good! Someone also mentioned sugar-free Rockstar-- love it! But they're pretty expensive compared to most sodas so I try to limit that to one a day max.

Eat when you feel hungry. Simple as that!

Your story is so inspiring, LCNY! You look incredible, younger and most of all - healthier and happier.

Cutting out sugars and starches.

I so cannot wait for ESO! I was wary when they first mentioned they were going to use the Hero Engine (same engine as SWTOR), but then they recanted on that, after the huge outcry from fans. They said they were building their own in-house engine and only used Hero as a testbed. Thank goodness. :D

I got it and kinda wish I hadn't. The game itself is fun, but the server issues have been awful... not to mention the multiplayer doesn't really feel like multiplayer. The few hours I did manage to play with friends, it more or less felt like a single player game, apart from sending resources and whatnot to neighboring…

Had to do this, too. I got a small memory foam pillow that I use when sleeping on my side and it works wonderfully! Grats on your NSV, OP!

No, don't bother. Everyone that I know who've tried these gimmicks just wind up failing. Lead a healthy lifestyle via proper eating and exercise -- that's the only thing you need.

This is something that I think about everyday. Every single day that goes by is another day toward your goal. I remember thinking I was just destined to be a fat girl, and there was nothing to be done about it. I keep thinking if I had given up at any point during my journey, where would I be? I was 253lbs when I started,…

lmao! That's quite the coincidence xD

Pretty much anything on these websites: http://yourlighterside.com/ http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/

I always shred the crust cheese myself since there's so much, though sometimes for the toppings I just throw on pre-shredded mozzarella and call it good. The pre-shredded stuff almost always has a couple of carbs from the potato starches. The one I made last night came to about 4g net carbs per slice, with toppings. Enjoy!

This is the almond flour/cheddar bread recipe I used for the breakfast biscuit. I replace the flaxseed meal with almond flour, I find it comes out less grainy and more yum that way. :) http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=376814 I used a round, flat tupperware to get that shape, it was perfect! And this…

New to the group but not to low carb... here are a couple of meals I made recently! Sausage, bacon, egg and cheese muffin with almond flour minute-biscuit. Holy grail pizza - almond flour + cheese crust with loads of cheese and pepperoni.

Going low-carb was the best decision I ever made. I tried losing doing low fat/low cal and I found I was scraping the bottom of my Lean Cuisine dishes and just wound up frustrated and hungry all the time. Since switching to low-carb, I'm rarely hungry, get to eat delicious food all the time, am more clear-headed and…

I've tried the spaghetti noodles a few times, but they always seem to come out kinda rubbery. Not sure how to counter that. I could see it working better maybe if they're sauteed or baked. Most of the time I just figure out a noodle substitute with some kinda veggie, like thin-sliced eggplant or zucchini. Deli-sliced meat…
-
Same here, I tried for a while but they're just too rubbery. I just use veggies like spaghetti squash or zucchini now as noodle substitutes. Also, fresh deli meat like ham or turkey works well in a pinch as a lasagna noodle replacement... but yeah, can't really find anything exactly like noodles. Ah, well! ;)

It's not low-carb. There are lots of different results on Google about this and it seems to generate huge blood sugar spikes for several hours after eating this stuff. The 5g of digestible carbs is absolutely incorrect. I'd suggest shirataki noodles if you want actual low-carb noodles (if you can stomach the texture).

This is a great idea! I was just thinking that it'd be nice if there was a keto forum, since LCF is so broad. Totally signing up. I'll be sure to pass this on!
