  • I have had an amusing day today, but this ^^ is, by far, my favorite thing that's made me laugh!!
  • Thanks so much for all of the great feedback! I have a small single serving personal blender I "won" during a holiday gift exchange at my office & that works just fine for smaller, simple jobs. However, I only have a very small food processor, which is really tough on the rare occasion I make my favorite pumpkin soup. So I…
  • Vitamix is a little out of my price range, unfortunately!
  • Does your gym have any strength-training group fitness classes? My gym offers Les Mills Body Pump, and it really is a great full-body workout. Between the great music, the instructor motivation, and even some friendly competition with the other participants, it really does make the time go much faster. I push through…
  • I don't have an answer, but I'm curious, as well. I've recently gotten a Fitbit and have wondered the exact same thing! Hopefully there is an answer to the discrepancy...
  • I am the same way! I can't start eating almonds or other small snacks, because I when I am in my "hungry mode", I simply CANNOT stop at just a small handful. My favorite go-to foods during these times are: 1) Smoothies, which I can bulk up with a little protein powder, frozen fruit, almond milk or greek yogurt, water, and…
  • I came across this link to an older thread yesterday, I think it may be very helpful to you in understanding why you need you eat more, how to do so, and what to expect as your body adjusts: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/3047-700-calories-a-day-and-not-losing Good luck!
  • As a woman, I can tell you that 2500-3000 is not the BMR for "most" people! (Maybe for most men, I don't really know...) Oh, how I wish it were, though... That would make this journey SO much easier for me.
  • Well, you definitely burn calories when you sleep. It's part of your BMR, the calories your body burns just by functioning (breathing, digestion, etc.). However, 2000 seems like way too much to be accurate! I use a BodyBugg to measure my caloric burn & I average around 0.8 to 1.1 calories per minute when I'm sleeping. Do…
  • This looks delicious!! I've eaten so much unhealthy food the past couple of weeks, but I think this shall be my "reward" in say, February, for getting (& staying) back on task in the New Year. I bet my family doesn't even notice it's a healthier version!
  • I log all of my wine & usually measure it, too! Some days, it's the only motivation to work out, so I can enjoy a glass afterwards. However, this got me thinking... I don't log the calories in my supplements (fish oil, gummy fiber & gummy calcium), and they've all got caloric values, which add up. Hmmmm....
  • First off, congratulations on such an AMAZING transformation!! Have you checked around for a local consignment shop? This may have similar clothes to the Goodwill, but the plus side is you may be able to sell your bigger clothes for a small commission. This could help offset the cost of buying newer, smaller items.
  • I feel your pain! My workplace is very social and food is a super big deal. We work in a "pod" environment, so I don't even have to go to a break room to be tempted - it's right there next to my desk! I work with men who are all very big eaters, and they will go out for ice cream in the afternoon and occasionally order…
  • Hi all! I've been looking for a group to join and this seemed like the logical place to start. I've worked in IS/IT under many different roles over the years and I'm currently focused on Business Intelligence under the finance organization. While not technically "IT", I still associate it as such, since it's a very…
  • This isn't really a direct response to your question, but might be related. In addition to all of these (GREAT) suggestions, I'd like to suggest that perhaps you should talk to your doctor to rule out anemia. I found out that I was severely anemic a few months back, and that drains my energy, even when I've had a good,…
  • Great job in adding variety to your workouts! You may not burn as many calories - minute per minute - lifting weights, as you would with cardio. However, the increase in your metabolism lasts longer. You are burning more calories in the hours that follow strength training - this is something you don't get with straight…
  • I took my first Flirty Girl Fitness class almost a year ago, I had never even seen the DVD's. I was hooked immediately! It's similar to Zumba, but I prefer Flirty Girl. I liked the music the instructor played (very modern dance/club music, which is very different from the DVD's), and the moves are more hip-hop dance than…
